Research data reflect the fact that there is a discrepancy between different European countries in understandings of what constitutes impairment and what are necessary supports for including students with disability in higher education. According to research data students with disabilities face academic, psychological and social challenges within the higher education environment. The priorities of the project are building inclusive higher education systems, social inclusion and innovative practices in a digital era. The project primary target group is disadvantaged students with disabilities, the secondary target group is an academic staff of the higher education institutions, the tertiary target group is university students of education and affiliate programs, the quaternary target group is teachers and pedagogic staff in general education. The project will develop service systems of digital assistive technologies and incorporate them into higher education processes. It will promote the inclusion of students with disabilities in higher education and address the diversity in education by promoting social inclusion.Surveys in higher education institutions regarding assistive technology deployment practices revealed that digital assistive tools such as screen readers, screen magnification software, optical character recognition /reading solutions, speech recognition, word prediction software, mouse alternatives, hands-free speech input, writing tools (software-based), disabled-friendly navigator, are indicative examples of tools that disabled students rely upon or are keen on. Therefore, there is an emerging and compelling need for assistive technology evaluation and provision in order to determine what digital tool would satisfy the educational needs of a disabled student. It can be provided to students as a service through a corresponding application and software.Assistive Technology (AT) use can enable academic engagement and social participation and be transformative from a psychological perspective. The project aims to develop services for students with disabilities and promote their access to higher education. The project objective is to enable academic engagement and social participation of disabled students in higher education by developing an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) service of available Assistive Technology Programs use in higher education and the development of creative Information and Communication Technology Assistive Technology Programs for disabled students in higher education. The project results will be embedded in university E-course about the use of digital assistive technologies in education. The project is planned in three phases: (1) elaboration of the standards for the assessment and understanding the requirements of disabled students in higher education (2) elaboration of creative technical solution offers of ICT ATP for disabled students in higher education (3) development of the university E-course about use of creative ICT ATP for disabled students in education. The planned innovative intellectual output results for the whole project are (1) digital assessment tool for the requirements of disabled students in higher education, (2) data analyses and publication about the needs of disabled students in higher education, (3) Interactive Information Toolkit about Available Assistive Technologies for Disabled Students in Higher Education, (4) university E-course: Creative Information Communication Technologies and Assistive Technology Programs for Disabled Students in Education. The project will be able to provide the following transferability points: • Freely available training of teaching staff and dissemination at higher education institutions • Establishing a central location for the evaluation, advice and assistance of higher education and businesses for the use of ICT in education • Presentations and demonstrations of the possibilities of using ICT for e-learningThe research results and Intellectual Outputs of the project will be multiplied. Information about the Multiplier Event will be announced six months before the event on EPALE platform and will be open for participants from any European university or higher educational institution.
<< Objectives >>The historical-political project reflecting the time of the National Socialist dictatorship in the two project countries, with regional references to the memorials in Esterwegen & Liepaja, promotes the examination of the culture of remembrance, strengthens common European values and civic engagement, and develops the participants’ digital competencies. The target groups of the digital and analog materials compiled in this project are teachers and adult, immigrant, and disadvantaged participants.<< Implementation >>The project management established guarantees the successful implementation for both partners. The partners meet for the kick-off event, confer and decide on the distribution of tasks as well as the project schedule and agree on which tools are used and work out the first steps. Afterwards, each institution develops four modules from which analog and digital materials are created. After the materials are tested and readjusted, the project is handed over and reflected on in the final meeting.<< Results >>The partners develop concepts for gaining digital basic education and compile methodological cards for teachers. Adult learners and the general public benefit from these analog and digital materials. The examination of the culture of remembrance in both countries demonstrates the current state of the discourse. Civic actions, such as the founding of associations and museums on the topic of remembrance culture, embody the common European values that we want to promote by means of this project.
The overarching goal of the REVISE project is to reduce the fragmentation of the Latvian history research field, endorse its international prominence, establish new benchmarks in public discourse for interpreting the Latvian history of the 20th century, stimulate new conceptual ideas about the development of Latvian statehood and train new history researchers. To reach this multidirectional goal, the project proposes a broad research and communication program and defines four interrelated objectives: critically rereading the Latvian historiography of the 20th century in line with the perspective of social morphogenesis; reinterpreting Latvia’s master narrative of the 20th century in light of microhistory and mnemohistory; remediating Latvia’s history by focusing on the opportunities provided by digital humanities; rejuvenating the interdisciplinary research of Latvian history by providing opportunities for young and emerging scholars. The project results will include seven peer-reviewed monographs, at least 30 peer-reviewed research articles accepted for publishing, and recommendations on how to enhance history education, improve the use of digital resources in Latvian history research, as well as how to use historical knowledge in reducing the risks of disinformation and strengthening Latvia’s international image. The project also envisages diverse community outreach through expertise sharing, publications for the general public, and a citizen science campaign.
Immigrants, especially in their first year of life in the host country, have language problems what makes it difficult to offer them any educational programs (with the exception of language learning) and learning possibilities. Due to this fact, the project has created intellectual product that could provide better educational opportunities. The aim of the project had been to create and to test innovative educational tools based on digital technology for immigrants to acquire basic knowledge and understanding about host country’s sociocultural life: e-Educational Tool migis.eu, which improved and extended the offer of learning opportunities for migrants. Target groups - immigrants (both for the third countries and EU), immigrants' educators. As a result the objective of the project has been primarily directed to the development of the intellectual product, which would improve and extend the offer of learning opportunities for migrants. In other words it is an innovative product like a survival kit for migrants who have just arrived into the host country. This innovative product has been based on digital technologies - created e-platform having an open access at the same time. This material in the e-platform has been based on textual and visual material that has been written in a very simple, easy to understand language, and short sentences. As a result it is easy-to-use and understand for all immigrants and their educators. The project helps immigrants (who are in the first year of life in the host country and usually do not know the language of the country or cultural and social peculiarities of the life) to integrate into the host society more successfully. The creation of the intellectual product consisted of 4 main activities: a study, on the basis of which innovative project product for immigrants was created (theoretical analysis, survey of immigrants (N-1127) and interviews of immigrants educators (N-85); creation and implementation of the e-platform, where the project product was located; the development of educational tools and its final testing, and improvements. Moreover, the training activities for immigrants’ educators were conducted. The final tool was tested and improved with 17 adult immigrants ‘educators and 584 immigrants. Project partners have been NGOs and higher educational institutions from 6 countries, which have had great experience in working with migrants, implementing EU program projects, conducting researches and also employing immigrants’ educators and providing number of courses for immigrants and educators. Since this intellectual product is open and free-accessed the results are useful and beneficial not only for all interested migrants, educators, but also for tourists, visitors and locals. As a result, this project has provided educational opportunity for immigrants involved in the project and non-participating in it in order to gain basic knowledge and understanding of their host country's socio-cultural life. Thus, basic knowledge and understanding of their host country's socio-cultural life helps to understand the country's culture, values and social life of the procedures and features, that is essential for maintaining good mutual relations, cooperation, understanding, tolerance, mutual respect throughout the European Community.
"<< Objectives >>TRAM - Tradition and Modernity is a project linking traditional cultural assets (museum) and modern language learning (German lessons). Both teachers and learners are motivated by new impulses: language support for a cultural institution - to see foreign language teaching as a bridge to cultural mediation. The museum opens itself for new cooperations and improves the addressee reference, the university teaches and researches on concrete teaching concepts.<< Implementation >>In schools: preparation of material and lessons / giving lessons / solving tasks - and small competitions if necessary); in the museum: expansion of the information material; in the university: thematic seminars, students work on content and research on concrete ""case studies"";the team creates a training course with the language and culture materials.Regular meetings during the working phases, setup of a website with new material of foreign language learning.<< Results >>Material for German lessons are developed, the preparation of a museum visit, a (foreign) language appropriate information in the museum, further developments ""extracurricular learning places"" are developed.
