Writing is still considered as a difficult skill in language learning by Indonesian students. For that reason, it is urgent for teacher to seek for interesting ways to teach writing in the classroom. This study examines the effectiveness of the use of peer feedback technique to improve students’ skill in writing descriptive paragraph. Some studies have proved the effectiveness of the technique to improve students’ writing skill. The study employs experimental research in which one class of 20 students is taught to write narrative paragraph and correct their paragraph using peer feedback technique. The result of the study shows that the technique improves the students writing skill in narrative writing, however the scores are not significant. This suggests that there is a factor that affects the result of the teaching using peer feedback, and it is the less time of treatment which is indicated as the factor.

This research deals with the placing of the singular in the meaning of the plural in the Quranic verses and the words of the Arabs. Hence, the problem of research is as follows: How did the linguists view the singular status of the plural? Was the use of singular in the meaning of the plural valid for all single words? The type of research used in this field is descriptive qualitative research, using the analytical method of grammar, and the technique of a collection consists of the library method. The result of the study answers this problem and that the advent of the singular in the meaning of the plural is not denounced by the Arabs if the speech is evidence of its collection. This method is mentioned in the Holy Quran and the words of the Arabs. However, not every single word is valid for the meaning of the plural without evidence.

This study aims to investigate the role of moderate Islamic education in enhancing nationalism among Indonesian Islamic student organizations in the era of Society 5.0. The research design took a qualitative approach, and the location for the research was IAIN Parepare, Southeast Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. Some 21 people participated in the study, including 18 students who belonged to an Islamic student organization and three lecturers who taught Islamic religious education courses. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation that focused on three themes, namely moderate Islamic education, Islamic student organizations, and nationalism. The findings revealed that the process for internalizing moderate Islamic values through Islamic religious education courses can foster a spirit of nationalism that manifests in the attitudes and behaviors of students in the community. Unfortunately, moderate Islamic education at IAIN Parepare has not been optimally applied, with observations showing that promotion of the moderate Islamic movement through seminars and workshops is still limited. In addition, students who belong to the Islamic student organization have not fully enhanced their moderate Islamic literacy on campus. In reality, moderate Islamic values are very important for improving students’ moral and intellectual capacity and instilling a broad sense of nationalism. Stakeholders should therefore support campus activities for moderate Islamic education as a way of preventing radicalism and improving the intellectual and moral capacities of Islamic college graduates. It is hoped that through moderate Islamic education and a strong sense of nationalism, Islamic student organizations throughout Indonesia can help support national development and realize a peaceful life for everyone.

Abstract: This research aims to find out (1) the neglected variables of characteristics of a good test which is done by lecturers in developing their test, and (2) the ways the lecturers develop their own test in relation to the neglected variables. This research is explanatory mix method design. There are two variables in this research. They are lecturers’ consideration and test development. The population of this research is 33 lecturers in which 18 from IAIN Parepare and 15 from UMPAR. The samples are taken by random technique in which 30 samples. The instruments of this research are questionnaire, interview and documentation. This research uses percentage technique to analyze the data. The results of this research show that (1) here are the sequences of the neglected variables in developing language test: reliability, appropriateness in difficulty, clarity, comprehensiveness, validity, transparency, appropriateness in time, and economic, and (2) From three interview sections, this research finds differences of the way lecturers develop their test. They develop their test through challenging, creative and spontaneous test.
