This study aimed to determine the success factors of technology program graduates in selected State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) of the Philippines. The independent variables are respondents’ demographics, accreditation status of the technology programs, the morale of respondent, and the practices in the curricular, teaching-learning and assessment, facilities and learning resources, student affairs services, and the organization and management aspects of the technology program while the dependent variables are the graduation rate, graduates’ employment rate, employment status, length of time in acquiring the first job, and monthly income/salary. Findings revealed that the longer the length of service of the faculty, the higher is the graduation rate of the SUCs; State Universities and Colleges with more female faculty generated more graduates than those with more male faculty; the more the SUCs implement the practices in the organization and management of the technology programs, the better the employment rate and higher employment status of their graduates; and State Universities and Colleges with faculty having a shorter length of service generated more graduates with higher employment status and less waiting time before acquiring the first job. Besides, the respondents’ sex and length of service predict the graduation rate while the length of service predicts the graduation status and the length of time of the graduates in acquiring the first job. Moreover, the organization and management significantly predict the employment rate and employment status of graduates.

Basal stem rot caused by Ganoderma boninense is the main disease of oil palm plantations. The disease decreases yield, causes plant death, shortens economic life, and accelerates replanting. The purpose of this study is to compare the development of this disease in third-generation oil palm plantations in peat soil and mineral soils. Observations were made to verify secondary census data for 4 years on affected (endemic) rotten stems. Observations were made on each of the 3 blocks for peat soil and mineral soil with palm oil planting year 2011-2012. The results showed that stem base rot develops faster with a higher severity in peat soil than yellow-red podsolic soil. The availability of organic matter in both soil and oil palm plant residues becomes an important source of nutrients for pathogenic fungi in completing the cycle of disease in plantations.

Frond base fracture is an increasingly common phenomenon in oil palm plantations caused by various stress factors. This study aimed to determine the incidence of frond base fracture in the plantation where different nutrient sources were applied (palm oil mill effluent, oil palm EFB, and organic fertilizers) in relation to the dynamics of oil palm inflorescence. The incidence of frond base fracture and the production of male and female inflorescences were observed in 30 sample trees for each nutrient source. Observations were made three times with an interval monthly. To reveal the research objectives, it used descriptive analysis. The results showed that the routine application of POME increased the susceptibility of oil palms to fractured fronds and the sex ratio was higher other than that of EFB; the lowest incidence was found in the palm that was given inorganic fertilizers. frond base fracture trees produced fewer female inflorescence, although the number of male ones did not differ between frond base fracture palm and healthy ones.

This research aims to perform the techno-economic feasibility of the applied hybrid biomass stove to produce hot water for serving Child Development Center (CDC) in Omkoi District, Chiang Mai, Thailand. The hot water generated from the stove could help to decrease LPG usage and enhance household economics. Many activities in CDC (i.e., children showering during the winter season, cloth washing, and utensils cleaning among others) require hot water to prevent the contamination of harmful germs which could cause many diseases such as diarrhea in young children. Presently, Asian Development College for Community Economy and Technology, Chiang Mai Rajabhat University (adiCET) has installed the hybrid stove to the in Omkoi district. The biomass stove could generate 90 °C hot water using plant/agriculture waste as the fuel. However, the economical parameters (i.e., Payback Period, Net Present Value and Internal Rate of Return) could strengthen the technology. The results from this study could be used as one of the guidelines for policymakers to design the appropriate programs for enhancing the CDC using the waste-to-energy concept.

In recent years, wastes have been reprocessed into useful products, such as organic fertilizer. The application of organic fertilizers in farming practices can produce agricultural products that are safe for human health and the environment. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of liquid organic fertilizer made from fish waste on the growth of Bali red rice seedlings. A Complete Randomized Design (CRD) consisted of 8 treatments with 5 replications was applied in this experiment. These included immersing of rice seeds in fish waste fertilizer with concentrations of 0.5% = P1, 1% = P2, 1.5% = P3, 2% = P4, 2.5% = P5 and 3% = P6 with volume/volume ratio (v/v), prior to soaking. Rice seeds without immersion in this fertilizer (C0) and those immersed in PGPR bacterial suspension only (C1) served as nil control and control treatments, respectively. The results showed that the application of 2.5% fish waste fertilizer produced the highest results, following measurement of parameters, including the percentage of germination (88.18%), plant height (28.78 cm), and root length (20, 74 cm) on day 15 after sowing.

The ground-mounted solar farms are the most common type of Thailand solar power plant. Presently, the area under the solar panels in Thailand had not been utilized. This work was to investigate a suitable configuration for space utilization under the PV panels which could promote power production. The effect of space utilization was investigated for 3 configurations: a water pond, chili cultivation, and a grass plantation. Under the first PV string, the pond sizing 2.4 × 15 meter was created. Under the 2nd PV string, 60 chilies samples were planted. Moreover, the grass was planted under the third string. The intensity of solar radiation (W/m2), temperature, voltage and current of solar panels were also monitoring. The impact of all configurations on the power generation was evaluated and compared with a control. Results indicated that the space utilization of the first string (the pond) and of the second string (the chili cultivation) generated electricity at 1.6 kW. Both configurations could generate more power than control. The pond and the vegetable plantation were suitable configurations for promoting power production.

The objectives of this research were to evaluate risk factors and assess flood risk areas, including analyzing guidelines for flood risk area management in Patong Municipality, Kathu District, Phuket Province. Factors affecting flood were rainfall, slope gradient, soil permeability, land use, and water barrier. Weighting factors and rating factors were indicated and geographic information system for potential surface analysis and overlay analysis were applied. The results revealed that Patong Municipality had high risk area as 2.17 km2 (11.39%). Flood risk area for moderate level accounted for 4.00 km2 (20.99%) and low flood risk area accounted for 12.89 km2 (67.62%). Guidelines for flood risk area management in Patong Municipality should focus on the principles of soil and water conservation, forest restoration and preservation in the upstream area, flow path and stream are management, land use management, ground cover planting to prevent soil erosion and maintain soil moisture.
