International audience; Globalization through individualization together with an increase of translocal relations has opened up new ways of identification. Music as a set of symbolic elements enables this identification process. Indie rock as a globalized musical genre is a fruitful field that gives insight into understanding how individuals adopt and adapt a musical style. The aim of this research is to describe how indie rock bands are situated in Switzerland within the indie rock genre, and how they get in contact and identify with it. This research is based on 15 individual interviews conducted with members of six different Swiss indie bands. The results show that these bands uphold translocal identification with the international musical genre through, among others, the generalized use of English as the language of indie rock. However, since only few of them have connections abroad, this translocal identification is mainly mediated through the consumption of both live and recorded music from international artists. Due to this peripheral position, these bands are unable to play a significant role within the indie rock scene. Their music is, so to say, internationally inspired but locally produced. In this context, they are still very dependent on their geographical environment considered as a space of experience and resource. Yet, local identity does not seem to be claimed neither is the feeling of belonging to a local scene. This research shows that indie rock has to be understood through the lense of a rhizomic phenomenon, which is being constantly adapted by individuals through a variety of mediators. Moreover it challenges the idea of a local scene by showing how it is socially constructed.

The French experience of validating the knowledge, skills and competences acquired through informal and non-formal learning is unique in the world. In this chapter, we argue for the singularity of this experience in France. We first review the beginnings of accreditation of prior learning (APL) movement, from the early experiments until its current modes of functioning. We show in particular how the implementation of APL introduced a significant break in the French educational model that attaches great importance to diplomas obtained within the school system. APL radically transformed the landscape of classic means of certification. It established a strong distinction between diplomas and other pathways to gain certification, by recognising the formative dimension of work experience. The issue which then arises is not so much the recognition of knowledge, skills and competences that have been acquired at work, but the means by which the recognition can be operationalised. We focus, therefore, on the methodological resources provided to support candidates and to assist the complex process by which they are expected to put into words their work experience. To do so, we discuss recent research conducted in France in the field of psychology and educational sciences that investigate the counsellors' activities. This research, we argue, opens up interesting perspectives in terms of training and professionalisation in the field of APL.

La réflexion ici développée est tournée vers une analyse approfondie du profil artistique de Perréal par laquelle on cherchera à délimiter l'environnement historique dans lequel son expérience culturelle s'enracine et à montrer ainsi l'importance de sa production dans le portrait privé. Avec certitude, on sait qu'il se rend à Milan en 1499, pour l'entrée solennelle de Louis XII; visite historique durant laquelle il entre en contact avec Léonard désireux d'apprendre la technique de la couleur « a secco ». Les motivations exprimées dans l'art de ce dernier sont plutôt à rechercher dans la combinaison d'influences diverses dont il prit l'essence dans un exercice de réélaboration de modèles nordiques vers une direction lombarde où l'artiste démontra sa capacité à dominer la double origine de son style. Des rapports entre l'artiste lyonnais et les Flandres, il en est fait mention même dans l'historiographie du XIXe siècle, où l'hypothèse d'un séjour à Bruges de Perréal pour se perfectionner dans la peinture à l'huile a été émise.

International audience; We study how elementary school pupils give sense to the moves of a mobile robot in a mathematical game. The game consists in choosing 3 numbers out of 6, whose sum is a given target number. The robot moves on a game board have been implemented to provide pupils with a tangible feedback about their answer. We have studied strategies of pupils to solve the problem and their evolution. Our methodology included interviews, aloud verbalization and video observations of 28 pupils in grade 1 and 2 while they are playing. The pursuit of a mastery goal encourages a trial and error strategy for only some of the pupils. We conclude that some aspects of the moves of the robot, like its position, are perceived as a form of help and not as a threat, even if they are only partially understood.

We consider a mix transportation problem, which allows to combine a multi-modal public and a ride-sharing transports, in a dynamic environment. The main idea of our approach consists in labelling interesting nodes of a geographical map with information about either riders or drivers, in so-called buckets. Based on the information contained in these buckets, we compute admissible ride-sharing possibilities. To restrict the needed amount of memory, among the different stops along a public transportation path, we only consider the transshipment nodes, where travellers have to make a change between two modes. Each of those stops are potential pick-up or drop-off stops for ride-sharing. We consider a drivers’ maximal waiting time, as well as the maximal driving detour time depending on the actual drive. Each new drive activates a search for new ride-sharing of existing riders. Each new ride activates another process which searches for potential drivers. Among all admissible ride-sharing possibilities, only those which best improve the earliest arrival time are selected. We provide numerical results using real road network of the Lorraine region (FR) and real data provided by a local company. Our numerical experiment shows a running time of a few seconds, suitable for a new real-time transportation application.

Dans le cadre de la « Conférence internationale des Humanités Numériques » qui s’est tenue en 2014 à Lausanne, nous avons réalisé une représentation. Celle-ci est une cartographie en réseau des auteurs et des mots-clés de la conférence. Les cartes résultantes sont reproduites sur divers objets : bâche, tapis, ouvrages, posters, tasses. Ces derniers avaient pour fonction de susciter l'intérêt des auteurs et leur identi cation au champ des humanités numériques. La qualité de la car- tographie en réseau est qu'elle exclut peu d'acteurs et dans notre cas peu de participants. De ce fait un grand nombre de participants à la conférence a pu se trouver sur la représentation et par là prendre part au collectif suggéré par les liens de la cartographie. Par ces reproductions, qui ne sont jamais vraiment mécaniques, la représentation a circulé en alimentant des interprétations qui tracent les contours d'un collectif propre à la conférence. Les traces fabriquées par les participants - commentaires de la cartographie, photos, souvenirs, tweets, etc. -, permettent de suivre la trajectoire de la représentation. Par conséquent, savoir si la représentation a réussi revient à enquêter sur l’étendue et la qualité de sa trajectoire entre les épreuves. L’enjeu de cet article est donc d’enquêter sur le design cartographique en tant qu’art du rassemblement, grâce aux outils du design cartographique.

International audience; Les auteurs explorent les politiques de différenciation des parcours scolaires conduisant à l’enseignement supérieur et ses effets sur l’égalité des chances et la mobilité sociale en France et en Suisse. Ainsi, le parcours professionnel réussit à compenser les inégalités sociales dans l’accès aux études postsecondaires, encore plus pour la population féminine, avant tout en France.

Etudes & documents; This study documents the implications of financial vulnerability for export diversification in developing economies. Financial crises, by increasing the incidence of sunk costs of entry into exporting, reduce firm export dynamics. Financially-vulnerable exporters are not able to fully realize economies of scale in production and access better-sophisticated technologies. The number of products and destinations per exporter are therefore likely to decrease in times of crisis. We use a comprehensive cross-country dataset on export dynamics, with data covering the 1997-2011 period for 34 developing countries to investigate this issue. Building on the generalized difference-in-differences procedure proposed by Rajan & Zingales (1998) to remove any endogeneity bias, the results point to a negative and economically large effect of financial vulnerability on export diversification.Financial crises reduce export dynamics disproportionately more in financially dependent industries. This effect is less pronounced in countries with initially more open capital account, suggesting that portfolio inflows are good substitutes for underdeveloped domestic financial markets.

Jacques Wallet et Hervé Daguet quant à eux précisent de manière rigoureuse cette description de la situation actuelle en présentant une description despratiques médiatiques de collégien-ne-s français-e-s. Leur analyse les conduit àprésenter un débat au cœur du thème de l'élève connecté : l'école doit être ouverteou fermée ?...... À travers leur texte, Jacques Wallet et Hervé Daguet répondent à la deuxième question sur l’intégration de cette nouvelle réalité dans la formation desjeunes générations. Ainsi, ils présentent deux enquêtes menées en région parisienne dans des établissements scolaires qui ont permis de cerner des évolutions rapides dans les équipements mais surtout dans les pratiques en ligne desadolescents au sein des réseaux sociaux du Web. Le texte interroge une possibleréponse de l’école et des pédagogues face à ces évolutions sociétales. Les résultats révèlent que les plus âgés sont davantage équipés que les plus jeunes. Cependant, les plus jeunes seraient de plus grands utilisateurs d’Internet pour jouer,alors que les plus âgés seraient davantage tournés vers les messageries instantanées et les réseaux sociaux. Ils émettent l’hypothèse d’une évolution en troisphases : MSN; blog; réseaux sociaux. Les plus âgés utilisent davantage Facebookque les plus jeunes. En conclusion, ils évoquent des binômes en tension: enseigner/communiquer, savoir/information; savoirs scolaires/savoirs de référence.Ils parlent de l’idée de communauté « adolescente et péri-scolaire ». Selon lesauteurs, les jeunes utilisent de plus en plus les réseaux sociaux et communiquentdavantage. Cet article repose sur les conclusions de trois études réalisées au sein du laboratoire CIVIIC. Deux menées depuis 2007 auprès d’élèves de 11 à 17 ans, l’autre,plus récente en 2010, auprès d’étudiants en sciences de l’éducation qui pour la plupart se destinent au professorat.Dans une première partie, nous confirmerons en le quantifiant ce que lavie courante nous enseigne déjà : la généralisation de l’équipement numérique etl’évolution rapide des pratiques des jeunes et des adolescents.Dans une seconde partie, nous évoquerons les « réponses » possibles del’institution scolaire.

The consequences of flash floods can be dramatic in terms of casualties or economic losses. Jonkman (2005), in a global assessment of flood-related casualties, showed that flash floods lead to the highest mortality (number of fatalities divided by the number of affected people). For example, in the recent flash flood that occurred in the French Riviera around Cannes on 3 October 2015, 20 casualties and 650 billion euros of insured damage (source: http://www.ccr.fr/) were reported. Flash flood forecasting systems are critically needed to better organize crisis management and rescue operations.As mentioned in chapter 1.3.4 (Gaume et al. 2016), flash floods are characterized by a rapid increase of river water levels. They often affect small watersheds, generally ungauged. The spatial and temporal variability of rainfall, landscape characteristics and pre-event catchment wetness are important influential factors in flash flood generation, contributing to the large space-time variability of hydrological responses (Borga et al. 2011).Forecasting flash floods is therefore a complex task. It necessitates the monitoring of large areas, where each small watershed of a few square kilometres can possibly be affected. Real-time observation networks and models must run at small temporal and spatial scales, on the order of a few minutes and kilometres. Furthermore, discharge time series are not available for the majority of the possibly affected watersheds, posing a real challenge for model calibration and evaluation. In this context, radar based precipitation products and/or meteorological forecasts with a high resolution (typically 1 km2 grid size) are crucial (Creutin and Borga, 2003). Slight misplacements of the precipitation may for instance lead towarnings attributed to the wrong river network and to inappropriate flood management decisions.
