    Cross sections for elastic and inelastic scattering of the weakly bound Be9 nucleus on a Sn120 target have been measured at seven bombarding energies around and above the Coulomb barrier. The elastic angular distributions are analyzed with a four-body continuum-discretized coupled-channels (CDCC) calculation, which considers Be9 as a three-body projectile (α+α+n). An optical model analysis using the São Paulo potential is also shown for comparison. The CDCC analysis shows that the coupling to the continuum part of the spectrum is important for the agreement with experimental data even at energies around the Coulomb barrier, suggesting that breakup is an important process at low energies. At the highest incident energies, two inelastic peaks are observed at 1.19(5) and 2.41(5) MeV. Coupled-channels (CC) calculations using a rotational model confirm that the first inelastic peak corresponds to the excitation of the 21+ state in Sn120, while the second one likely corresponds to the excitation of the 31- state.     A realisation of coordinates and momenta in the algebraic space to describe vibrational excitations of ν-equivalent oscillators is obtained. The connection between algebraic and configuration spaces is carried out using the approach recently proposed [Mol. Phys. (2017), doi:10.1080/00268976.2017.1358829]. The realisation consists in an expansion in terms of the dynamical algebra generators with coefficients determined through a minimisation procedure and given in terms of matrix elements defined in configuration space. Two realisations are presented: one through an isomorphism with a harmonic oscillators basis and the second one using a mapping to Morse oscillators. In the case of the harmonic oscillator mapping, two chains associated with coordinate and momentum representation have been identified. Our approach allows us to establish the algebraic representation of any interaction and, consequently, of the Hamiltonian associated with ν-interacting oscillators, providing a formal approach to estimate the potential energy surface.     It is shown that the use of a proper form factor in the study of the pygmy dipole resonance (PDR) is of paramount importance in order to determine the correct values for the relevant quantities characterizing these new modes. Form factors calculated within a microscopic model are compared with those provided by different macroscopic collective models. Their differences, shown in the shape and magnitude, are reflected on the calculated cross section and therefore jeopardize the extracted physical quantities.     Radiative capture reaction rates for $^6$He, $^9$Be and $^{17}$Ne formation at astrophysical conditions are studied within a three-body model using the analytical transformed harmonic oscillator method to calculate their states.     The elastic and inelastic scattering of 7Be from 12C have been measured at an incident energy of 35 MeV. The inelastic scattering leading to the 4.439 MeV excited state of 12C has been measured for the first time. The experimental data cover an angular range of θcm = 15∘-120∘. Optical model analyses were carried out with Woods-Saxon and double-folding potential using the density dependent M3Y (DDM3Y) effective interaction. The microscopic analysis of the elastic data indicates breakup channel coupling effect. A coupled-channel analysis of the inelastic scattering, based on collective form factors, shows that mutual excitation of both 7Be and 12C is significantly smaller than the single excitation of 12C. The larger deformation length obtained from the DWBA analysis could be explained by including the excitation of 7Be in a coupled-channel analysis. The breakup cross section of 7Be is estimated to be less than 10% of the reaction cross section. The intrinsic deformation length obtained for the 12C⁎ (4.439 MeV) state is δ2 = 1.37 fm. The total reaction cross section deduced from the analysis agrees very well with Wong's calculations for similar weakly bound light nuclei on 12C target.     We present a disposable optical sensor for Ascorbic Acid (AA). It uses a polyaniline based electrochromic sensing film that undergoes a color change when exposed to solutions of ascorbic acid at pH 3.0. The color is monitored by a conventional digital camera working with the hue (H) color coordinate. The electrochromic film was deposited on an Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) electrode by cyclic voltammetry and then characterized by atomic force microscopy, electrochemical and spectroscopic techniques. An estimation of the initial rate of H, as ΔH/Δt, is used as the analytical parameter and resulted in the following logarithmic relationship: ΔH/Δt = 0.029 log[AA] + 0.14, with a limit of detection of 17 μM. The relative standard deviation when using the same membrane 5 times was 7.4% for the blank, and 2.6% (for n = 3) on exposure to ascorbic acid in 160 μM concentration. The sensor is disposable and its applicability to pharmaceutical analysis was demonstrated. This configuration can be extended for future handheld configurations.     We propose a kinematical enhancement of the tt charge asymmetry at the LHC by selecting events with the tt centre of mass frame highly boosted along the beam axis. This kinematical selection increases the asymmetries and their significance up to a factor of two in a rather model-independent fashion. Hence, it can be a perfect complement to enhance model discrimination at the LHC.     A beyond mean-field study of the Tavis-Cummings (TC) model is developed. This is the simplest model for describing the interaction of a radiation field with a system composed by an array of two-level atoms. The first correction to the mean-field ground state energy and the energy gap between the ground and the first excited states are computed. For the ground-state energy our result improves the mean-field calculation, as expected. For the gap, that cannot be calculated at mean-field level, a drop down to zero is obtained at the critical point where the system undergoes a second-order quantum phase transition.     The mapping of the single fermion creation operator (ci†) onto the Interacting Boson-Fermion space (IBFM) is revisited within the Generalized Seniority scheme.     In this paper, we studied the knowledge on didactic contents reflected by future elementary teachers when answering questions related to teaching and learning fractions. Following a qualitative methodology, specifically a case study, 9 senior pre-service elementary teachers were interviewed using a structured approach. The topic was presented to the subjects using a narrative they had previously written on how to initiate the concept of fractions with school children. After reading it, they were asked questions regarding task design, learning objectives, and mistakes and difficulties. Results identified two trends in the participants’ knowledge: a procedural or technical trend in which the stated knowledge emphasizes procedures, processes, or action modes, and a conceptual or cognitive trend in which the stated knowledge emphasizes the functional understanding of fractions and their relationships. As a conclusion, it is essential that initial teacher training emphasizes mathematical as well as didactic contents.

    Cross sections for elastic and inelastic scattering of the weakly bound Be9 nucleus on a Sn120 target have been measured at seven bombarding energies around and above the Coulomb barrier. The elastic angular distributions are analyzed with a four-body continuum-discretized coupled-channels (CDCC) calculation, which considers Be9 as a three-body projectile (α+α+n). An optical model analysis using the São Paulo potential is also shown for comparison. The CDCC analysis shows that the coupling to the continuum part of the spectrum is important for the agreement with experimental data even at energies around the Coulomb barrier, suggesting that breakup is an important process at low energies. At the highest incident energies, two inelastic peaks are observed at 1.19(5) and 2.41(5) MeV. Coupled-channels (CC) calculations using a rotational model confirm that the first inelastic peak corresponds to the excitation of the 21+ state in Sn120, while the second one likely corresponds to the excitation of the 31- state.     A realisation of coordinates and momenta in the algebraic space to describe vibrational excitations of ν-equivalent oscillators is obtained. The connection between algebraic and configuration spaces is carried out using the approach recently proposed [Mol. Phys. (2017), doi:10.1080/00268976.2017.1358829]. The realisation consists in an expansion in terms of the dynamical algebra generators with coefficients determined through a minimisation procedure and given in terms of matrix elements defined in configuration space. Two realisations are presented: one through an isomorphism with a harmonic oscillators basis and the second one using a mapping to Morse oscillators. In the case of the harmonic oscillator mapping, two chains associated with coordinate and momentum representation have been identified. Our approach allows us to establish the algebraic representation of any interaction and, consequently, of the Hamiltonian associated with ν-interacting oscillators, providing a formal approach to estimate the potential energy surface.     It is shown that the use of a proper form factor in the study of the pygmy dipole resonance (PDR) is of paramount importance in order to determine the correct values for the relevant quantities characterizing these new modes. Form factors calculated within a microscopic model are compared with those provided by different macroscopic collective models. Their differences, shown in the shape and magnitude, are reflected on the calculated cross section and therefore jeopardize the extracted physical quantities.
