This finding is contrary to the importance of international journal rankings, such as the SCOPUS Scimago journal ranking or the Web of Science Impact Factor. We found inconsistencies between international and domestic standards and differences between the eight committees of the academic department. Based on an exploratory empirical analysis of 4213 journals spanning eight different scientific committees of social science areas (business, law, demography, sociology, regional studies, world economics, military science and political science), we prove that a key reason for Hungary’s decreasing rank in international visibility is the inconsistently strong bias for domestic journals. We show that inconsistency of ranking fairness determines the behavior of researchers; this motivational effect is especially important in small countries in which local relevance often offsets the importance of mainstream international discourses. This problem is attenuated with the digital transformation of science; online repositories, indexing systems and online visibility have become key enablers of evidence-based assessments of publication performance.

description Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Conference object 2023 EnglishZenodo Authors: Čolakovac, Ivan; Barković, Iva;Čolakovac, Ivan; Barković, Iva;Purpose - The study aims to emphasize the development of institutional repositories' conceptual framework as well as how it has affected academic and scholarly communities in terms of increased exposure, a broader audience, and quicker dissemination of research. In the community of open access academic platforms, the characteristics of institutional repositories that set them apart from the competitors, are highlighted. This study aims to evaluate academic institutional repositories in Croatia in the field of social sciences at the University of Zagreb. Methodology/approach - Data were collected by examining digital repositories of nine academic institutional repositories (Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences, Faculty of Kinesiology, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Organization and Informatics, Faculty of Political Science, Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Teacher Education with Faculty of Croatian Studies and Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, both of which belong to social sciences and humanities). Findings - The University of Zagreb has a total of 80,308 digital objects, out of which 29,592 objects are stored in Social Sciences digital repositories (36.85%). A total of 12,426 digital objects (41.99%) are in open access. The Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences has the fewest stored digital objects, 956 (3.54% of the total number of digital objects in the field of social sciences), but it has the most objects stored in open access (1,050; 90.8 %). The Faculty of Law has the fewest objects in open access, out of 4,307 digital objects, only 11.1%. Most of the objects are, as expected, in Croatian (27,900, 94.28%) followed by the ones in English (1,089; 3.68%). The most prevalent kind of academic materials to be found in institutional repositories are theses and dissertations, followed by journal articles and conference papers. A total of 28,601 (96.65%) graduation theses and final theses are stored in the repositories. Originality/value - The benefits associated with institutional repositories are manifold. Repositories provide users with information that would not otherwise be accessible for a variety of reasons, such as the absence of supplemental data (unpublished reports and working papers, audio-visual items and multimedia, learning objects, bibliographic references, datasets, lecture notes, other special item types, and so forth) or the paywall/subscription models used by commercial channels of scholarly communication. The findings demonstrate that the University of Zagreb is seeing a wave-like development of institutional repositories. The results from the study provide insight into the development of institutional repositories in the scientific field of social sciences and offer suggestions for higher education librarians and management teams.

Melnyk;Yu. B. Melnyk;Dear Readers, We are honored to publish the International Journal of Education and Science (IJES), Vol. 3, No. 3, 2020. IJES is an academic periodical peer-reviewed indexed Journal that provides a scientific platform for presenting and discussing new trends and issues in Social and Behavioral Sciences. Since 2018, the Journal has published more than 200 manuscripts, including: Original Research, Review Articles, Brief Reports, Conference Abstracts, Reviews, Letters to the Editor. IJES Editorial Board includes the most authoritative scientists from 14 countries, 5 continents in the fields of Education, Psychology, Economics, Medicine. IJES is presented in 15 international scientometric databases, repositories and search engines: Crossref System, Google Scholar, Kopernio (USA); Publons (New Zealand); Scilit (Switzerland); ROAD (France); Index Copernicus International (Poland), etc. Indexed in the ICI Journals Master List ICV 2019: 80.33. From the second half of 2020, the IJES Editorial Board decided to replace one of the scientific directions of the Journal with another more specialized one (Medicine for Law). This is due, on the one hand, to the need for a certain specialization of the Journal, on the other – allows us to discuss new trends in interdependent areas: Pedagogy – Psychology, Economics – Law, which are included in the Social and Behavioral Sciences. So, from 2021 this international Journal is intended for professionals and researchers in scientific fields: Education, Psychology, Economics, Law. On behalf of the IJES Editorial Board, I personally would like to thank all the members of the Editorial Board who represented the Journal in the field of Medicine during these years. As the Publisher of the IJES, KRPOCH Publishing invited these members of the Editorial Board to continue their cooperation as members of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Science Annals. IJES provides immediate Open Access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. All Articles apply under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0). The Journal publishes Review Articles and Original Research, Letters to the Editor, and Reviews. A total of fourty five manuscripts were submitted for this issue, and each article was subjected to a doubleblind peer review process by reviewers specializing in the relevant field. At the end of the review process, five high quality research papers were selected and accepted for publication in this issue. Accordingly, the purpose of this issue is to enable researchers to share the results of their academic research. The articles discuss various research topics. We would like to thank all the Authors who submitted their manuscripts and to the IJES Editorial Board, which worked on this issue.

This increase is followed by both positive and negative outcomes. One of its negative aspects is internet dependency. The scope of this research is the study of internet dependency and its impact on academic performance. Quantitative research was utilized in this study, while questionnaires were used as the research instrument. The study sample consists of 90 Albanian university students. The data were analyzed with SPSS 20 and JASP-0.8.1.2. The study employed the following statistical analyses: frequency tables, crossed tabulation, Pearson correlation coefficient, regression analysis, Bayesian Pearson Correlation. The study concluded that time spent on the internet has a positive impact on internet dependence. Internet dependence does not have a significant statistical correlation to academic performance. Another conclusion of the study is that most students nowadays are internet dependent.
