Objects that can be stored in institutional repository are students' B.A. and M.A. theses, dissertations, pre-print papers, peer-reviewed articles, conference papers, research data, books, teaching materials, images, video and audio files, and presentations. To improve searchability, all materials have to be described with predetermined set of metadata. Authors store their materials independently, while repository administrator validates the materials and updates incomplete metadata records.
