This paper explores and analyses the impact that the COVID-19 pandemicexerted on the well-being of workers in a Danish company - Hobbii. As a means ofachieving the specified end, we took an interpretivist approach towards thequalitative data we collected through employing semi-structured interviews amongthe current and former workers of Hobbii’s distribution centre, which revolved aroundinvestigating their group affective tones during various phases of the pandemic. Ourfindings showed a crucial and significant change, with the group affective tone ofworkers shifting from very positive to very negative in a blink of an eye, right uponthe emergence of the virus in Denmark. This phenomenon was moreover reinforcedin time by the economic boom that the company experienced due to COVID-19,which initiated substantial alterations of the corporate politics. The warehousetherefore metamorphosed unrecognisably.

In 2012 the first wolf was seen back in Denmark. Since then, more wolves have arrived and had litters of pups. The number of wolves being able to live in Denmark can have an impact on regulation of deer population. In this project we seek to make an estimate of how many wolves can exist in Denmark based on area size and prey abundance and whether they could regulate deer population based on the possible numbers. Which lead us to the research question “Are the conditions of the Danish environment allowing for the wolves to reach a population where they regulate deer population?” We concluded that the possible number of wolves can regulate deer populations.

In this problem-oriented project we seek to analyze Chinese foreign policy regarding the South China Sea. This is based on an interest in the ongoing territorial dispute, which marks the potential for major regional conflict. This conflict has been studied by various authors from various perspectives, which have been synthesized and presented through a state-of-the-art review. Using the Copenhagen School of Securitization Theory combined with Hurd’s Legitimization Theory to set a theoretical foundation, we delve into the discursive landscape of Chinese foreign policy. The project seeks to analyze how the securitization efforts of the People’s Republic of China and its legitimacy as an international actor are intertwined. We conclude thus: The People’s Republic of China actively seeks to securitize their assertive policy by utilizing the legitimate discourse. This effort has not convinced their targeted audience because of the disingenuous nature of their political identity stemming from a political ambiguity combining assertiveness and cooperation.

This project is about evaluating the user experience of news websites, and the goal is to create a methodology that researchers, developers and site owners can use to find the heuristic strengths and weaknesses of their site. The set of heuristics is also meant to help uncover problems for usability and thereby the user experience of the site. When it comes to research regarding news websites, most of the modern research is about how to create a trustworthy website that delivers factual and correct news, rather than “fake news”. An area of the field which is somewhat overlooked, is the actual user experience of these news websites. In this project we have created a methodology for the evaluation of news websites in regards to their user experience. For this purpose we have made a set of heuristics from an integrative literature review, where we have concatenated some of the most modern best practices, standards and design patterns and trends, when it comes to the design of news websites, and rewritten these into heuristics. Then we have made an analysis using our set of heuristics, and an analysis using Jakob Nielsen’s: the ten usability heuristics[15], of the news website www.ing.dk and discussed the results.

This master thesis addresses normative control mechanisms in Ugandan society that are affecting adolescents in their pursuit of sexual health (SH), and why these are causing a struggle for them in terms of mental health. This study uses anthropological methods in collecting empirical data; participant observational studies, interviews and focus group discussions with Ugandan adolescents, facilitated through the local NGO Reach A Hand Uganda. Furthermore, we have incorporated document analysis of the National Sexuality Education Framework (NSEF).The research design was built on the African concept of Ubuntu in order to decolonise our knowledge production and create space for Indigenous epistemologies, in respect of decentering African communal knowledge building. This was chosen from a methodological stance of Decolonial Feminist Ethnography. With a critical decolonial feminist angle, based on the work of Sylvia Tamale, the data was analysed with various Foucauldian theories; Governmentality, Biopolitics and Pastoral Power, supported by Stella Nyanzi’s theoretical and contextual understandings of these, to investigate macro- and meso-level normative control mechanisms. Together with Albert Bandura's Social Cognitive Theory of Self-Regulation and Merrill Singer’s Syndemic Theory, we investigate dynamics and outcomes of this power on a micro-level.The analysis is structured within five thematic chapters, based on empirical findings. The first chapter explores normative control embedded in the NSEF rooted in religious morals, and depicts how the framing of national values and dangers are used to legitimise institutional control and power. The second chapter focuses on the emphasis on women in intervention strategies, disregarding the role of men, especially in relation to gender equality and equity, impacting gender dynamics. The third chapter further explores this phenomenon. Here we show how gender power dynamics shape interactions of e.g. sexual negotiation, affecting young women’s SH disproportionately leading to exploitation, gender-based violence and teenage pregnancies. The fourth chapter analyses how taboos, myths and misinformation, and the stigma of ‘being spoiled’ affects adolescents and controls adolescent behaviour on a meso-level. This leads to the final chapter which analyses the consequences to mental health, as fear and confusion propels distrust across communities.

Our project examines the ethical implication of drone warfare in combat zones. The advancement of drone technology and the algorithms that lead to target identification in targeted killings are worth examining within the context of international humanitarian law. To conduct our analysis, we have chosen to do a case study of a mistaken identity drone targeted killing of Zemari Ahmadi. It is intriguing to examine how the misidentification of a target such as the case of an NGO worker, Zemari Ahmadi, mistakenly killed in a drone strike during the pullout of troops from Afghanistan of falls under international humanitarian lawfare. Another facet of drone warfare worthy of examination is how the algorithms and databases are developed to identify and target enemy combatants and what ethical complications may arise along with these advancements in technology. Expert interviews with drone warfare experts and international humanitarian law experts have been conducted to aid our data analysis of this specific case.

The following paper is an exploration of the opportunities and challenges for the use of cash transfers (CTs) programmes as emergency aid in post-withdrawal Afghanistan. Through a literature report, we establish a knowledge base for reading and analyzing texts and reports by aid organizations about their work with CTs in Afghanistan. In the analysis, we examine how organizations present and discuss challenges and opportunities of doing CTs in Afghanistan at this time, and question what silences they may be downplaying. We conclude that there is often an emphasis on, as examples, the financial system or gender but that these foci do not always acknowledge the unique Afghan context as it currently is. We argue that this is the result of strategic choices because they are easy to ‘sell’ to donor countries. ---

In the current context of modern society, implementing and executing frequent engagementtowards corporate social responsibility by companies consisting of 250 employees andbeyond, based in countries that are a part of the European Union has become a necessity.Necessity not only by law from the European Parliament but as well as to move forward withthe organisational structure and development of a company. COWI as a company developedan explicit strategy that promises to implement sustainability on a Danish and global scale, byexclusively engaging in projects that will affect the transition towards global sustainability. This paper aims to investigate the fashion in which companies with a CSR strategy, like COWI,can remain profitable while striving toward their goals of absolute sustainability. This is doneby examining the implications that arise when companies publish their CSR efforts in relationto the catch 22 theory. The findings were enabled by a variety of methods including primarydata obtained through semi-structured interviews from first-hand sources related to theimplementation of sustainable approaches and strategies by COWI and HØST Power-to-X.Additionally, this was done in combination with secondary data of qualitative and quantitativenature. The results were achieved by operationalising and applying the theories of the triplebottom line, stakeholder theory, and the catch 22 theory. This process has ultimately led tothe findings that suggested the values in a company of the general public have changed sincethe introduction of Catch 22 in 2004 and that in modern society, companies were moreprofitable when they were transparent and open about engaging in CSR results.
