Geologie - De rivierduinafzettingen die aanwezig zouden zijn in het zuidelijk deel van het onderzoeksgebied zijn niet aangetroffen. Gesteld kan worden dat de top van dit rivierduin in het onderzoeksgebied overal dieper ligt dan vijf meter onder maaiveld. Eén van de boringen is doorgezet tot 10 meter onder maaiveld, en ook hierin is het rivierduin niet aangetroffen. Aangenomen kan worden dat dit rivierduin dieper ligt dan 11,86 m NAP. - De ondergrond in het onderzoeksgebied bestaat uit kleiafzettingen met lokaal ingeschakelde lagen kleiig veen die gerekend kunnen worden tot de Afzettingen van Gorkum. Op deze afzetting is een laag veen, behorende tot het Hollandveen aanwezig. De top hiervan is nagenoeg overal veraard en slechts licht geërodeerd. Hierop zijn twee onderscheidbare afzettingsfases die behoren tot de Afzettingen van Tiel aanwezig. De gaafheid van het bodemprofiel is, afgezien van de erosie van het Hollandveen, redelijk goed. Archeologie - In geen van de boringen zijn archeologische indicatoren aangetroffen die wijzen op de aanwezigheid van (behoudenswaardige) archeologische waarden in situ. - Tijdens het onderzoek is in de boringen een recente sloot aangetroffen en in een sloottalud is een paal waargenomen die waarschijnlijk onderdeel is geweest van een bruggetje over de perceelssloot. Beide zijn zeer waarschijnlijk 20e-eeuws en te relateren aan het gebruik van het onderzoeksgebied als landbouwgrond. Samenvattend kan gesteld worden dat de kans dat er door de geplande herinrichtingsplannen archeologische waarden worden aangetast klein is. De Nota ‘Regels voor Ruimte’ van de provincie Zuid-Holland (2005) vereist dat de archeologische waarden in kaart worden gebracht en dat wordt aangegeven op welke wijze met de aangetroffen archeologische waarden moet worden omgegaan. Gelet op bovenstaande conclusies luidt de aanbeveling dat er geen aanvullend archeologisch onderzoek of beschermende maatregelen noodzakelijk zijn. In het onderzoeksgebied ‘Bos Rijsoord’ kan ons inziens worden gestart met de voorgenomen herinrichtingsplannen.
