    Published on April 9, 2020 Fiscally sound governments will be able to pump money into their companies unhindered by state aid rules. The EU needs an equity fund to level things up. All great economic crises pose two equally important challenges: they drain the liquidity necessary for the functioning of businesses, large and small, and burn up their equity capital, or a substantial part of it. Of the two, the former is the immediate challenge amid the coronavirus-induced lockdowns. Providing liquidity to companies is the top priority to ensure their survival. Yet this doesn’t guarantee their healing, or their ultimate durability and growth. Equity capital, the stuff that’s needed to invest and thrive, is essential to the second stage of recovery.

    Barštytė, Rūta;

    Prekės ženklų komunikacija atlieką svarbų vaidmenį ypatingai šiandieninėje aplinkoje. Įvykiai tokie kaip Covid-19 pandemija bei Rusijos invazija į Ukrainą paveikė tiek vartotojus tiek jų įpročius. Prekės ženklų komunikacija taip pat turėjo reaguoti į įvykius aplinkoje. Ypatingą svarbą prekės ženklų komunikacija įgauna neapibrėžtumo laikotarpiu. Prekės ženklų komunikacijos pagalba gali būti tiek užmezgamas ryšys su vartotoju, tiek palaikomas jau esamas. Prekės ženklų komunikacija neapibrėžtumo laikotarpiu gali veikti vartotojus raminančiai, suteikti jiems aktualią informaciją bei parodyti palaikymą ir empatiją. Siekiant išnagrinėti prekės ženklų komunikaciją neapibrėžtumo laikotarpiu išsikelta tyrimo problema - koks prekių ženklų komunikacijos turinys dominavo Covid-19 pandemijos ir Rusijos agresijos Ukrainoje laikotarpiu? Išsikeltas tyrimo tikslas - ištirti prekės ženklų komunikaciją neapibrėžtumo laikotarpiu. Išsikeltam tyrimo tikslui pasiekti naudoti tyrimo metodai antrinių duomenų analizė bei pusiau struktūruotas ekspertų interviu. Antrinių duomenų analizė atskleidė atliktų tyrimų susijusių su neapibrėžtumo laikotarpiu rezultatus bei Lietuvos marketingo ir komunikacijos ekspertų pastebėjimus, nuomones pozicijas apie prekės ženklų komunikaciją neapibrėžtumo laikotarpiu. Pusiau struktūruotas ekspertų interviu leido pagrįsti informaciją gautą antrinių duomenų analizės metu. Tyrimai atskleidė, kad prekės ženklai neapibrėžtumo laikotarpiu neturėtų stabdyti savo komunikacijos. Prekės ženklų komunikacijoje neapibrėžtumo laikotarpiu vartotojams turėtų būti pateikiama aktuali informacija aiškiai ir visiems suprantamai. Prekės ženklų komunikacijoje neapibrėžtumo laikotarpiu turėtų būti skiriamas dėmesys naudojamiems žodžiams, ne visi žodžiai gali būti tinkami kontekste. Tyrimai atskleidė, kad vartotojų naudojimasis socialiniais kanalais išaugo, prekės ženklų komunikacija neapibrėžtumo laikotarpiu turėtų atkreipti dėmesį į tai norint pasiekti vartotoją. Šis darbas yra projektinis magistro baigiamasis darbas. Brand communication plays an important role especially in today’s environment. Events such as the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine have affected both consumers and their habits. Brand communication also has to respond to events in the environment. Brand communication is gaining in importance during the times of uncertainty. Brand communication can be used to connect with the user and also maintain an existing relationship. Brand communication can reassure consumers, provide them with relevant information, demonstrate support and empathy in times of uncertainty, In order to research brand communication in times of uncertainty, the research problem was raised - what content of brand communication dominated during the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russian aggression in Ukraine? Research aim is to investigate brand communication in times of uncertainty. The research methods used to achieve the research aim is secondary data analysis and semi-structured expert interview. Secondary data analysis revealed the results of the performed studies related to the time of uncertainty observations and opinions of Lithuanian marketing and communication experts on brand communication during the period of uncertainty. Semi-structured expert interviews allowed to substantiate the information obtained during secondary data analysis. Research has shown that brands should not stop their communication during a period of uncertainty. The consumer should be provided with relevant information clearly and comprehensibly during brand communication in times of uncertainty. In times of uncertainty, brand communication should focus on the words used, not all words may be appropriate in the context. Research has revealed that consumer use of social channels increased, and brand communication in times of uncertainty should pay attention to this to reach the consumer. This paper is projected solutions oriented final master thesis.

    Aarestrup, Frank M.; Bonten, Marc; Koopmans, Marion;

    The majority of emerging infectious diseases originate in animals. Current routine surveillance is focused on known diseases and clinical syndromes, but the increasing likelihood of emerging disease outbreaks shows the critical importance of early detection of unusual illness or circulation of pathogens - prior to human disease manifestation. In this Viewpoint, we focus on one key pillar of preparedness—the need for early warning surveillance at the human, animal, environmental interface. The COVID-19 pandemic has revolutionized the scale of sequencing of pathogen genomes, and the current investments in global genomic surveillance offer great potential for a novel, truly integrated Disease X (with epidemic or pandemic potential) surveillance arm provided we do not make the mistake of developing them solely for the case at hand. Generic tools include metagenomic sequencing as a catch-all technique, rather than detection and sequencing protocols focusing on what we know. Developing agnostic or more targeted metagenomic sequencing to assess unusual disease in humans and animals, combined with random sampling of environmental samples capturing pathogen circulation is technically challenging, but could provide a true early warning system. Rather than rebuilding and reinforcing the pre-existing silo's, a real step forward would be to take the lessons learned and bring in novel essential partnerships in a One Health approach to preparedness.

    Francioni, Barbara; Curina, Ilaria; Hegner, Sabrina; Cioppi, Marco;

    Purpose – The COVID-19 has brought with it valuable opportunities for the retail sector. Notably, online channels have assumed a key role for businesses that can rely less on physical channels due to the pandemic’s restrictions. Within this context, the study aims to identify the main antecedents leading to the formation of the male and female customers’ continuance intention of using online food delivery services (OFDS) in the restaurant industry. Design/methodology/approach – A web-based self-completion survey and a subsequent structural equation modelling have been employed on a sample of 360 participants. Findings – Findings reveal that perceived healthiness, quarantine procedures, perceived hygiene, perceived ease of app use and attitude significantly influence continuance intention. Moreover, the moderator analysis corroborates that male consumers’ continuance intention is mainly influenced by perceived healthiness, quarantine procedures and perceived hygiene. Conversely, female customers’ continuance intention is predicated on perceived healthiness and attitude. Research limitations/implications – Although the adoption of a sample of young customers (18–29 years) guarantees good research internal validity, findings are not generalizable. Practical implications – The study provides valuable contributions for restaurants related to the (1) creation/management of their own OFDS platforms; (2) selection of the right third-party platforms. Originality/value – The paper is one of the first studies examining the predictors impacting on customers’ OFDS continuance intention in the COVID-19 context by also focusing on gender differences.

  • Chamoreau, Claudine;

    Publication en ligne; El 26 de octubre de 2020, mientras el Covid-19 paralizaba en gran medida a Honduras, Dixon Davadyd Álvarez Ortiz, Subdirector General de Educación Intercultural Bilingüe del Ministerio de Educación, inauguró a través de Facebook el primer curso en línea para la enseñanza del idioma pesh (también conocido como Paya, de la familia Chibcha). Presente en dicha inauguración, Wilson Martínez Martínez, predecesor de Dixon Davadyd Álvarez Ortiz, destacó el objetivo general del curso impartido íntegramente en línea: el aprendizaje de la lengua pesh como lengua de comunicación cotidiana para los pesh o las personas que lo deseen.En octubre de 2020, dos maestros, principalmente Ángel Martínez, y también Danilo Lugo, que trabajan en comunidades muy pobres -Moradel, cerca de Trujillo, y La Laguna, cerca de Carbón- lanzaron el curso en línea en pesh. Esta acción, nacida como reacción al aislamiento de las comunidades indígenas causado por la crisis, apoya la lucha contra la pérdida acelerada de la transmisión de idiomas entre los jóvenes de las aldeas y, de manera general, contra la falta de interés por los idiomas indígenas y afrodescendientes en el país.

    Barštytė, Rūta;

    Aarestrup, Frank M.; Bonten, Marc; Koopmans, Marion;

    Publication en ligne; El 26 de octubre de 2020, mientras el Covid-19 paralizaba en gran medida a Honduras, Dixon Davadyd Álvarez Ortiz, Subdirector General de Educación Intercultural Bilingüe del Ministerio de Educación, inauguró a través de Facebook el primer curso en línea para la enseñanza del idioma pesh (también conocido como Paya, de la familia Chibcha). Presente en dicha inauguración, Wilson Martínez Martínez, predecesor de Dixon Davadyd Álvarez Ortiz, destacó el objetivo general del curso impartido íntegramente en línea: el aprendizaje de la lengua pesh como lengua de comunicación cotidiana para los pesh o las personas que lo deseen.En octubre de 2020, dos maestros, principalmente Ángel Martínez, y también Danilo Lugo, que trabajan en comunidades muy pobres -Moradel, cerca de Trujillo, y La Laguna, cerca de Carbón- lanzaron el curso en línea en pesh. Esta acción, nacida como reacción al aislamiento de las comunidades indígenas causado por la crisis, apoya la lucha contra la pérdida acelerada de la transmisión de idiomas entre los jóvenes de las aldeas y, de manera general, contra la falta de interés por los idiomas indígenas y afrodescendientes en el país.
