Publisher: Philosophy Documentation CenterCountry: PortugalIt will never be too much to remember that experience is one of the most important concepts on Benjamin’s thought. It underlies his analysis of the history and also supports his critical theory of literature and has many branches, above all in his texts after 1930. His text “The Image of Proust” (Literarische Welt, 1929) develops the concept of involuntary memory, which explains the question of auratic image in the work of Proust, obtained by the process of rememoration and also explained by the contribution of Freud’s studies about the traumatic shock and its consequences on the perception’s conditions of the contemporary man. These conceptions led Benjamin to a deep thought about the way how shock and rememoration can be articulated in order to create a new historical vision, individual and collective. We examine here, in the fields of the arts, literature and history, how this articulation can defines a new conception of experience and the possibility, or not, of the transmission of the culture, in a world where, as Kafka said, “the tradition became sick”. The question is: will rememoration, this Penelope’s web, be able to operate the rescue of the historical tradition? And which tradition are we speaking here about? What does rememoration mean?

We present the first results about Bragg grating devices in undoped PMMA POF fabricated with relative low cost Nd:YAG laser (when compared with excimer lasers) at 266 nm wavelength at low transmission loss in 850 nm region. Then temperature, humidity and strain characterizations are supplied for potential applications.

A new interesting research area is the representation and analysis of the networked economy using Open Semantic Service Networks (OSSN). OSSN are represented using the service description language USDL to model nodes and using the service relationship model OSSR to model edges. Nonetheless, in their current form USDL and OSSR do not provide constructs to capture the dynamic behavior of service networks. To bridge this gap, we used the General System Theory (GST) as a framework guiding the extension of USDL and OSSR to model dynamic OSSN. We evaluated the extensions made by applying USDL and OSSR to two distinct types of dynamic OSSN analysis: 1) evolutionary by using a Preferential Attachment (PA) and 2) analytical by using concepts from System Dynamics (SD). Results indicate that OSSN can constitute the first stepping stones toward the analysis of global service-based economies.

Distinguir um problema/divergência de um conflito é estabelecer a diferença entre atitudes de cooperação e atitudes de desrespeito ou de agressão, pelo que não se trata de semântica, "a diferença faz toda a diferença".

Have you ever sought to use metagenomic DNA sequences reported in scientific publications? Were you successful? Here, we reveal that metagenomes from no fewer than 20% of the papers found in our literature search, published between 2016 and 2019, were not deposited in a repository or were simply inaccessible. The proportion of inaccessible data within the literature has been increasing year-on-year. Noncompliance with Open Data is best predicted by the scientific discipline of the journal. The number of citations, journal type (e.g., Open Access or subscription journals), and publisher are not good predictors of data accessibility. However, many publications in high–impact factor journals do display a higher likelihood of accessible metagenomic data sets. Twenty-first century science demands compliance with the ethical standard of data sharing of metagenomes and DNA sequence data more broadly. Data accessibility must become one of the routine and mandatory components of manuscript submissions—a requirement that should be applicable across the increasing number of disciplines using metagenomics. Compliance must be ensured and reinforced by funders, publishers, editors, reviewers, and, ultimately, the authors. Have you ever sought to use metagenomic DNA sequences reported in scientific publications? Were you successful? This Essay reveals that every fifth published metagenome is not available to science, and asks whether data accessibility should be considered a mandatory component of manuscript submission.

Countries: Denmark, Portugal“Net Zero Energy Building” has become a prominent wording to describe the synergy of energy efficient building and renewable energy utilization to reach a balanced energy budget over a yearly cycle. Taking into account the energy exchange with a grid infrastructure overcomes the limitations of seasonal energy storage on-site. Even though the wording “Net Zero Energy Building” focuses on the annual energy balance, large differences may occur between solution sets in the amount of grid interaction needed to reach the goal. The paper reports on the analysis of example buildings concerning the load matching and grid interaction. Indices to describe both issues are proposed and foreseen as part of a harmonized definition framework. The work is part of subtask A of the IEA SHCP Task40/ECBCS Annex 52: “Towards Net Zero Energy Solar Buildings”. “Net Zero Energy Building” has become a prominent wording to describe the synergy of energy efficient building and renewable energy utilization to reach a balanced energy budget over a yearly cycle.
