    This dataset contains agronomic measurement data of pure stands and mixed stands of 27 pea genotypes (P. sativum L.) and 8 barley genotypes (H. vulgare L.), sown in an incomplete factorial (Haug et al., 2021) at two locations in Switzerland over two years (2018 and 2019) under organic management.     Semiconductor Science and Technology article. In this paper we discuss the development of new semiconductor materials and approaches to overcome the fundamental limitations of well established (Al,In)GaAs/InP and InGaAsP/InP infrared-emitting lasers. We consider three approaches; dilute-nitride InGaAsN-based structures; InAs-based quantum dot/dash structures and the most recently emerging dilute-bismide (GaAsBi, InGaAsBi), all of which may be grown on either GaAs or InP substrates. These material systems provide a range of possibilities for band engineering and strain control, thereby giving new routes to improve device efficiency, overcoming existing limitations of device performance and to develop range of new cost-efficient devices with improved characteristics. However, all of these approaches have common difficulties related to establishing optimised growth conditions to produce high quality material for device fabrication. Particularly, in this paper we compare and contrast the effects of inhomogeneous carrier distribution in these systems and discuss the influence of this on the physical properties of lasers developed using these approaches. The authors dedicate this paper to the memory of Professor Naci Balkan (Essex) and Professor Jeff Hosea (Surrey) both of whom made significant contributions to the development of new semiconductor materials including the dilute nitrides and bismides as discussed in the paper.     This dataset was used to perform the experiments reported in the IJCB2023 paper "Can personalised hygienic masks be used to attack face recognition systems?". The dataset consists of face videos captured using the ‘selfie’ cameras of five different smartphones : Apple iPhone 12, Apple iPhone 6s, Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro, Xiaomi Redmi 9A and Samsung Galaxy S9. The dataset contains : Bona-fide face videos: 1400 videos of bona-fide (real, non-attack) faces. In total, there are 70 identities (data subjects). Each video is 10 seconds long, where for the first 5 seconds the data subject was required to stay still and look at the camera, then for the last 5 seconds the subject was asked to turn their head from one side to the other (such that profile views could be captured). The videos were acquired indoors, under normal office lighting conditions. The data subjects were volunteers, who were required to be present during two recording sessions, which on average were separated by about three weeks. In each recording session, the volunteers were asked to record a video of their own face using the front (i.e., selfie) camera of each of the five smartphones mentioned earlier. The face data was additionally captured while the data subjects wore plain (not personalised) hygienic masks, to simulate the scenario where face recognition might need to be performed on a masked face (e.g., during a pandemic like COVID-19). Attacks: Personalised hygienic mask attacks: Video recordings of an impostor wearing personalised hygienic masks (one at a time), on which the bottom part of each data subject’s face is printed. Please note that the dataset contains 350 personalised hygienic mask attack videos, whereas the IJCB2023 paper mentioned 345 videos. This is because, for the experiments reported in the paper, we excluded the videos of the attacker wearing their own hygienic mask (since the "attacker" was one of the 70 data subjects). Print attacks: 1400 video recordings of the data subjects’ face photos printed on A4 matte paper, which was held up to the smartphone’s camera. Replay attacks: 2800 video recordings of bona-fide face videos that were replayed to the target smartphone’s camera. Different phones were paired, such that one of the pair was used to replay the bona-fide videos while the second (attacked) phone recorded the videos using its front camera.     Data stored here refer to Eddy Covariance (EC) data measured in 2019 during the snow-free season at the Alpine CZO (Critical Zone Observatory, hereafter CZO@Nivolet) which was established at the Nivolet Plain (Piani del Nivolet) in the Gran Paradiso National Park (GPNP), located in the western Italian Alps. The EC site (IT-NIV) is an ICOS-associated station. CZO@Nivolet is aimed at investigating the cross-scale interactions between climatic shifts and ecosystem functions multiple scales, involving multidisciplinary studies. The main research questions that we aim to answer are concerning: (a) the effect of bedrock lithology, soil physics and chemisty, topographic hetereogenity, biotic components and meteo-climatic parameters in modulating CO2 flux in alpine grassland; and (b) what are the controlling factors of organic C and weathering under geologic substrates and different topographic positions. The investigations started in 2017. In 2019, the EC tower was added to deeply study CO2, H20, latent and sensible heat exchanges between soil, vegetation, and atmosphere. Carbon dioxide fluxes and environmental variables are recorded during the snow-free season to estimate carbon storage and explore CO2 fluxes drivers in high-altitude grasslands. Further developments will regard the integration of different techniques (Eddy Covariance, Remote Sensing, Flux chambers) to improve both spatial and temporal extent of carbon fluxes estimates to finally assess grasslands' productivity.

These correspond to 1000 and 4122 unique images (IDs) for the development and test sets, respectively. -> {devel|test}_allconcepts.txt : Complete list of concepts for the development/test set. The concepts are defined by one or more WordNet synsets, which is intended to make it possible to easily obtain more information about the concepts, e.g. synonyms. In the concept list, the first column (which is the name of the concept) indicates the word to search in WordNet, the second column the synset type (either noun or adjective), the third column is the sense number and the fourth column is the WordNet offset (although this cannot be trusted since it changes between WordNet versions). In total there are 262588 files, since each image can appear in more than one page, and there can be several versions of same page which differ by the method of conversion to xml. To avoid having too many files in a single directory (which is an issue for some types of partitions), the files are found in subdirectories named using the first two characters of the RID, thus the paths of the files after extraction are of the form: ./WEBUPV/pages/{RID:0:2}/{RID}.{CONVM}.xml.gz To be able to locate the training images withing the webpages, the URLs of the images as referenced are provided in the file train_rimgsrc.txt. * feats_textual/webupv14_train{|2}_textual.scofeat.gz The processed text extracted from the webpages near where the images appeared. Each line corresponds to one image, having the same order as the train_iids.txt list. The lines start with the image ID, followed by the number of extracted unique words and the corresponding word-score pairs. The scores were derived taking into account 1) the term frequency (TF), 2) the document object model (DOM) attributes, and 3) the word distance to the image. The scores are all integers and for each image the sum of scores is always <=100000 (i.e. it is normalized). * feats_textual/webupv14_train{|2}_textual.keywords.gz The words used to find the images when querying image search engines. Each line corresponds to an image (in the same order as in train_iids.txt). The lines are composed of triplets: [keyword] [rank] [search_engine] where [keyword] is the word used to find the image, [rank] is the position given to the image in the query, and [search_engine] is a single character indicating in which search engine it was found ('g':google, 'b':bing, 'y':yahoo). * feats_visual/webupv14_*_images.zip Contains thumbnails (maximum 640 pixels of either width or height) of the images in jpeg format. The first line of the file indicates the number of vectors (N) and the dimensionality (DIMS). The procedure to extract the SIFT based features in this subdirectory was conducted as follows. Using the ImageMagick software, the images were first rescaled to having a maximum of 240 pixels, of both width and height, while preserving the original aspect ratio, employing the command: convert {IMGIN}.jpg -resize '240>x240>' {IMGOUT}.jpg Then the SIFT features where extracted using the ColorDescriptor software from Koen van de Sande (http://koen.me/research/colordescriptors). As configuration we used, 'densesampling' detector with default parameters, and a hard assignment codebook using a spatial pyramid as 'pyramid-1x1-2x2'. The number in the file name indicates the size of the codebook. All of the vectors of the spatial pyramid are given in the same line, thus keeping only the first 1/5th of the dimensions would be like not using the spatial pyramid. The codebook was generated using 1.25 million randomly selected features and the k-means algorithm. The GIST features were extracted using the LabelMe Toolbox. The images where first resized to 256x256 ignoring original aspect ratio, using 5 scales, 6 orientations and 4 blocks. The other features colorhist and getlf, are both color histogram based extracted using our own implementation.
