Tika apskatīti pētījumi no 2020. gada 1. janvāra līdz 2022. gada 1. martam izmantojot atslēgvārdus: (((((((((((COVID-19) OR (COVID19)) OR (COVID)) OR (SARS-COV-2)) OR (coronavirus)) AND (insomnia)) OR (stress)) OR (anxiety)) OR (depression)) AND (healthcare)) OR (medical professionals)) OR (healthcare workers). Introduction: With the increasing incidence and prevalence of COVID-19 due to failed containment of the virus outbreak, we experience a worldwide pandemic that affects individuals around the world. The healthcare system is now overwhelmed by the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. Unfortunately, it has also taken its toll on healthcare workers. The physical and psychiatric burden is undoubtedly present during the COVID-19 pandemic. Similarly, to previous viral outbreaks, HCWs are exposed to predisposing factors leading to adverse mental health effects, such as stress, anxiety, depression, and insomnia during the new coronavirus pandemic. These outcomes lead to impaired psychosocial functioning, working ability, workplace conflicts, absenteeism, and potentially lost work. It is important to analyse the contributing factors related to the development of the mentioned adverse mental outcomes in healthcare workers to further evaluate and reduce their occurrence in the workplace. Aim: This review describes four prevalent adverse mental health outcomes among healthcare workers in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Aim of the review is to identify and describe the contributing risk factors for stress, anxiety, depression, and insomnia among healthcare personnel during the coronavirus pandemic. Hypothesis(-es): The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic is associated with a noxious impact on mental health of healthcare workers, and the identification of causative occupational factors (e.g., emerging emotional distress, drastically modified workplace, staff training, strenuous working hours, lack of mental health support) can help provision and prevent mental health outcomes, thus ensuring a better preparedness for the future COVID-19 waves or other possible outbreaks. Methods of research: A systematic search of the literature on PubMed and Google Scholar databases using EndNote, the optional add-in, for observational studies from January 1, 2020, to March 1, 2022, investigating the factors that contribute to stress, anxiety, depression, and insomnia among healthcare workers in the COVID-19 pandemic. Results and conclusions: The SARS-CoV-2 outbreak exerts characteristics that are responsible for adverse mental health outcomes among hospital workers. The incidence and prevalence of stress, anxiety, depression, and insomnia during the new coronavirus pandemic increased among health workers. Key risk factors that constitute the development of the abovementioned disorders have been identified: professional (paramedics/nurses, working in the front-line setting), individual (female gender, family) and contracting the virus.
