Serie 2-9; This series was shot on October 28-31, 2019, in Jambi province (Sumatra), during visits I conducted, together with CIRAD researchers Jean Ollivier and Alexis Thoumazeau and partners from rural development NGOs and Jambi University professors, of several places and projects related to agronomic practices in the local oil palm production sector. I also visited, with the invitation of professor Aiyen Tjoa (universities of Jambi and Palu), the EFForTS research project of universities of Jambi and Gottingen, on the effects of landscape transformation associated with the development of rubber and oil palm plantations. The subjects include the warehouse of a local input supplier, a plant nursury, an oil palm mill, the plantation of an independent smallholder (in the area, many of the recent plantations are installed not by firms, but by independent farmers), the delivery of fresh fruits by smallholders to an intermediate collector with his truck, a meteorological station installed for the EFForTS project, plantation workers transported in a truck. I coordinate the research project EXPALMIND on the effects of plantation agriculture on land use and food security, funded by the Mutalim CNRS-INRAE fund in 2019-2021, and this project involved geographers from CNRS-LETG and CIRAD-Systèmes de pérennes, and my participation was part of that project.

In the context of climate change where the link between climate and rural income has been well established, it is argued that migrants who move within rural areas choose destinations with more favourable climate conditions allowing for higher incomes. Employing the alternative-specific conditional logit model, this paper shows that such indirect effect of climate on migration destination choice is non-negligible, since one per cent increase in the expected income differentials between origin and destination, attributable to climate, increases the probability of choosing a given destination by at least nine percentage points. On the other hand, distance acts as a constraint for migration, in particular for the poorest individuals who might be inhibited from reaping full benefits of mobility.

This lecture considers the complexity of challenges of the agricultural transition from the perspective of farmers, who act at the intersection between the ecology, economy and policy. The lecture will start by providing an overview on the resource requirements for our global production chains of life stock and meat, grain and legume farming and say some words on the human diet, and food and feed conversion efficiency of energy-intake through food. This lecture also places a fresh emphasis on the development of local knowledge and locally specific arming and nutrition practices that are adapted to local environments, as a necessary complement to agricultural science striving to make universal claims. This leads on to basic insights on needs for knowledge production in agriculture, and merits and limitations of action research and engaged research, raising questions on how farmers, scientists and citizens might better collaborate to inform choices in food production and consumption. For the future there are some indications on a new trend on new more decentralised governance of the food system including citizen’s involvement in French organic certification and Community based Auditing and citizens science in communities in Australia to work with farmers on reducing environmental impacts and address ensuing trade-offs for farmers as a community.

NatAdGES est un projet de recherches Isite-Industrie en Bourgogne Franche-Comté.Son objectif est la diminution des émissions de gaz à effet de serre (GES) d’origine agricole.; NatAdGES est un projet de recherches Isite-Industrie en Bourgogne Franche-Comté.Son objectif est la diminution des émissions de gaz à effet de serre (GES) d’origine agricole. En priorité, il s'attaque aux émissions par les sols d’oxyde nitreux (N2O). Ce gaz présente en effet un très fort pouvoir radiatif et l’agriculture en est actuellement sa principale source anthropique.En associant des laboratoires des sciences biotechniques (UMRs AgroEcologie, et BioGeoSciences) et des sciences humaines et sociales (UMR TheMa), ainsi que des entreprises du domaine agricole (CMI - Groupe Roullier) et du domaine du numérique (I@D Territoire Digital) et en impliquant les utilisateurs, la profession agricole et les politiques publiques, NatAdGES crée dans le secteur agricole, une dynamique collective nécessaire à la réduction des émissions de GES d’origine anthropique. NatAdGES est labellisé par le pôle de compétitivité Vitagora.NatAdGES ambitionne de valoriser des microorganismes issus des collections de l’INRA et des additifs, issus des travaux de recherche du Centre Mondial de l’Innovation - Groupe Roullier ou développés dans ce projet, pour diminuer l’intensité des émissions de GES par les sols. L’approche proposée s’adresse aux différentes formes d’agriculture (conventionnelle, biologique, …) et permet de comptabiliser et de communiquer les évitements d’émission réalisés.

Présentation (Poster); The semi-arid southwestern Madagascan region is characterized by mangroves part of the Indo-Pacific phytochorie domain, providing numerous ecological, economical, social and cultural functions and values.These mangroves are under great anthropogenic pressures (salt production, shrimp farming, wood collection …), enhanced by climate change driving a catena of changes of the three rivers (Onilahy, Fiherenana and Manombo) hydrological and sedimentological functioning and of the coastal dunes of the region.The recent changes of mangroves are often only considered as degradation phenomena, ignoring the resilience capacity of these environments and of the socio-economic and cultural component in the associated landscape construction.In order to assess the much more complex contemporary dynamics and recent evolution of mangrove ecosystems and coastal dunes, we have used a retrospective diachronic aerial photography (1949) and satellite images (SPOT dated 1987 and 2014) processing of 5 different mangrove sites of the region of Toliara. This remote sensing monitoring have been combined with field surveys (2013 and 2014) consisting of transects for floristic identification (Avicennia marina, Sonneratia alba, Lumnitzera racemosa, Bruguiera gymnorhiza, Ceriops tagal, Rhizophora mucronata, Xylocarpus granatum), trunk diameter measures at Breast Height (DBH), counting of dead feet, cut trees and juveniles, complemented with the characterization of the environment (hydrography, siol, anthropization ...).The results reveal contrasted evolutions of the mangrove communities of Toliara region between development (Manombo-Fitsitike and Toliara I), stability (Mouth of the Onilahy) and regression (Ambondrolava and Ankiembe), related to a complex combination of anthropogenic (cutting pressure, clearing, reforestation ...) and natural (silt, sedimentary accretion ...) factors.

International audience; The goal of this document is to add to the efforts toward the long-sought objective of secure and safe robots with predictable and a priori known behavior. For this, we give operational semantics to GenoM3, a robotic framework, in terms of timed transition systems TTS. Then, a mathematically proven translation to timed automata extended with urgencies and data DUTA is derived from such semantics. Thus, we provide a mapping from functional components to verifiable models. Since TTS and DUTA are at the heart of a large corpus of formal verification languages and tools (such as UPPAAL, Fiacre, and RT-BIP), the semantics and its translation allow a correct mapping between GenoM3 and such languages/tools. This connection can then be automatized thanks to GenoM3 templates

L'ensemble des données de terrain produit au cours de l'ANR COLOSTRUM a été déposé à la phonothèque de la MMSH.; Le fonds ANR COLOSTRUM rassemble les données de la recherche menée entre 2013 et 2016 dans le cadre d’un programme nommé "L’alimentation pré-lactée, don et consommation néonatale du colostrum : pratiques, représentations, et enjeux de santé publique". Coordonné par Joël Candau (LAPCOS - Université de Nice Sophia Antipolis). L’enquête en Bolivie s’est déroulée d’août 2013 à mars 2014 puis de septembre 2014 à novembre 2014 dans la ville de Cochabamba et dans des communautés rurales du Département de Cochabamba, suivant le protocole établi collectivement par les chercheurs du programme COLOSTRUM et en collaboration avec l’Université de Mayor de San Simon (U. Mayor de San Simon - Cochabamba, Bolivie), auprès de 23 mères et 4 représentants du personnel soignant du Centre Hospitalier Universitaire German Uriqui et une représentante d’un centre de santé en zone rurale (Posta de Salud).
