    Phoebe Apperson Hearst měla velmi úspěšného vlastního syna Williama, který byl ale více jako jeho otec: tvrdý obchodník. Našla však jemnou, uměleckou duši v malíři Orrinu Peckovi (1860–1921), který byl údajně gay a který ji, ještě za života své vlastní matky, začal oslovovat „má druhá mámo.“ Na základě podrobného výzkumu jejich vzájemné korespondence v Peckově pozůstalosti se můžeme ptát, jak moc si byla progresivní, bohatá žena 19. století, jakou byla Phoebe Hearst, vědoma Peckovy sexuality a pokud ano, jestli s tím neměla problém, nebo šlo o nevyřčené tajemství mezi nimi? Jejich příběh představí historik umění Ladislav Zikmund-Lender. Phoebe Apperson Hearst had a very successful son of William, but he was more like his father: a tough businessman. However, she found a delicate, artistic soul in the painter Orrin Peck (1860–1921), who was allegedly gay and who, while still his own mother's life, began to address her as “my second mother.” Based on a detailed study of their correspondence in Peck's estate, we may ask how much a progressive, rich 19th-century woman like Phoebe Hearst was aware of Peck's sexuality, and if so, if she had no problem with it, or was it an unspoken secret between them? Their story will be presented by art historian Ladislav Zikmund-Lender.

    Authors: Krejcar, Matyáš;

    This Theis describes relations between Mexico and the United states of america during the second half of 19th century, the mexican revolution and the first world war. The period of reign of Porfirio Díaz and the first half of mexican revolution is important becouse of continuity of diplomatic relations on the western hemisphere before and during the first world war. Main focus of the thesis is political relations, with military and economic affairs discussed if needed for understanding of those relations. The Plan of San Diego is not discussed becouse of it´s complicated and uncertain origins and neglidgable relations to the main diplomatic relations. The Zimmerman telegram is discussed as part of the relations between USA, Mexico and Germany, not in the context of it´s impact on US public opinion and entry to the war. Práce popisuje vztahy mezi USA a Mexikem v období druhé poloviny 19. století, mexické revoluce a první světové války. Období vlády prezidenta Porfiria Díaze a první poloviny mexické revoluce jsou důležitá z hlediska kontinuity mezinárodních vztahů na západní polokouli mezi tímto obdobím a dobou první světové války. Práce se zaměřuje na dějiny politických vztahů těchto zemí, s přihlédnutím k ekonomickým a vojenským záležitostem v otázkách, kde je to nezbytné pro pochopení vztahů obou zemí. Práce se nevěnuje problematice Plánu ze San Diega pro dodnes neobjasněné okolnosti jeho vzniku a obtížné zařazení do kontextu hlavní linie politických vztahů. Zimmermanův telegram je pak zpracováván pouze v kontextu Mexicko-Americko-Německých vztahů v období první světové války, nikoliv z hlediska jeho dopadu na americkou veřenost. Obhájeno

    Authors: Hozmanová, Veronika;

    The aim of this bachelor thesis is to introduce and analyse the situation of a selected group of Lebanese immigrants in the Czech Republic. Specifically, it focuses on the social integration of educated and highly skilled Lebanese who have left amidst the deteriorating economic and political situation in the country over the last 15 years. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The former aims to briefly explain the events that have taken place in Lebanon in recent years. As respondents often mention them in the interviews, it is important to put the information in an economic and political context. It also defines the theoretical concepts that I draw on in the data analysis. In the practical part, I present the outcomes of the qualitative research I conducted as part of this thesis. Its first part compares each respondent's perspective on a given area of life in the Czech Republic, including employment or language learning, and presents their perspective on events in Lebanon. The second part then analyses their experiences through the dimensions of social integration and presents a summary of the push and pull factors that led respondents to immigrate to the Czech Republic. Cílem této bakalářské práce je zmapovat a analyzovat situaci vybrané skupiny libanonských imigrantů v České republice. Konkrétně se soustředí na sociální integraci přistěhovalců z řad vzdělaných a vysoce kvalifikovaných Libanonců, kteří odešli během zhoršující se ekonomické a politické situace v zemi v posledních 15 letech. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. První si klade za cíl ve stručnosti vysvětlit události, které se v Libanonu v posledních letech udály. Respondenti o nich často ve svých výpovědích mluví, proto považuji za důležité informace uvést do ekonomicko-politického kontextu. Také definuje teoretické koncepty, o které se poté opírám v analýze dat. V praktické části pak představuji výstupy z kvalitativního výzkumu, který jsem v rámci této práce uskutečnila. Její první část porovnává perspektivu jednotlivých respondentů na dané oblasti života v České republice, včetně zaměstnání nebo studia jazyka, a přibližuje jejich pohled na události v Libanonu. Druhá část pak analyzuje jejich zkušenosti skrze dimenze sociální integrace a přináší souhrn push a pull faktorů, které respondenty k migraci do České republiky vedly. Obhájeno

    The topic of this bachelor thesis is the repatriation of the patient through the emergency medical service. It deals with the description of the procedure of returning the patient back to the homeland. The work is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part describes the emergency medical service, its parts, activities and providers. Subsequently, Repatriation, its types and course are described. The practical part is performed by qualitative research in the form of case reports of patients who were transported to their homeland through the emergency medical service. Téma této bakalářské práce je repatriace pacienta prostřednictvím zdravotnické záchranné služby. Zabývá se popisem postupu návratu pacienta zpět do vlasti. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí, na teoretickou a praktickou. Teoretické části je popsána zdravotnická záchranná služba, její části, činnosti a poskytovatelé. Následně je popsána Repatriace, její typy a průběh. Praktická část je provedena kvalitativním výzkumem formou kazuistik pacientů, kteří byli transportováni do vlasti prostřednictvím zdravotnické záchranné služby. Obhájeno

    Authors: Šnoblová, Štěpánka;

    Texas is a very specific state that elects Democrats on the one hand and Republicans on the other. This division is due to the proximity of the border with Mexico, where the southern part of Texas is predominantly inhabited by residents of the Hispanic ethnic group who sympathize with the Democrats. The further you go from the border the less support Democrats are getting. The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to approach the geographical aspects that influence the election of the President of the United States of America. Specifically, the author focused on the US election in 2016 in Texas. To achieve this goal, a theoretical and practical part was made. The theoretical part focuses on the US political system itself and the procedure of electing the president. The practical part of the work focuses on demographic, economic and ethnic factors influencing the choice. Correlation analysis then compares the relationship between the factors and Hillary Clinton's support. The work was supplemented by a survey, which brought a different point of view of the results. The output of the work is the evaluation of the examined factors in comparison with the correlation analysis and the survey. Texas je velmi specifický stát, který na jedné straně volí demokraty a na straně druhé republikány. Toto rozdělení je dáno blízkostí hranice s Mexikem, neboť jižní část Texasu je převážně obydlena obyvateli Hispánské etnické skupiny, kteří sympatizují s demokraty. Čím dál se counties vzdalují od této hranice, tím menší podporu demokraté zaznamenávají. Cílem této bakalářské práce bylo přiblížení geografických aspektů, které ovlivňují volbu prezidenta Spojených států amerických a to s konkrétním zaměřením na americké volby v roce 2016 v Texasu. K dosažení tohoto cíle byla vyhotovena teoretická a praktická část. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na samotný politický systém USA a postup při volbě prezidenta. Praktická část analyzuje faktory ekonomické, demografické a etnické ovlivňující volbu. Korelační analýza následně porovnává vzájemný vztah mezi výše zmíněnými faktory a podporou Hillary Clintonové. Práce byla doplněna o dotazníkové šetření, které přineslo další pohled na výsledky. Výstupem práce je vyhodnocení zkoumaných faktorů v porovnání s korelační analýzou a dotazníkovým šetřením.     Authors: Konopásek, Tomáš;

    The main topic of this thesis is the phenomenon of negative campaigning in connection of Donald Trump's personal twitter account. The thesis is divided into three main parts - theoretical, methodological and analytical part. In the theoretical part, there are three main topics - the already mentioned negative campaigning, political marketing where the thesis focuses on its transformation in the era of internet and social media, and finally the topic of gender. Each of these topics include its own conceptualization of definitions, main concepts and also typology in the case of negative campaign. The methodological part of the thesis describes the data collection and analysis procedure in detail. Tweets are classified into six categories by their negativity; by topics and finally by the presence or absence of gender aspect in the tweet. Also, in this chapter, there are two research questions formulated. The beginning of the analytical part of this thesis is devoted to Trumpism, utilization of internet and social media in the American political environment, negative campaign in the American political environment and finally Trump's twitter usage and his presidential campaigns from 2016 and 2020. Then the thesis moves on to the analysis of 3303 Trump's tweets from his pre-election periods in 2016 and 2020 with emphasis on negativity and gender aspect of the tweets. At the end of the thesis, there is a short summary of results that answers the research questions and conclusion. Hlavním tématem bakalářské práce je fenomén negativní kampaně ve spojení s twitterovým účtem Donalda Trumpa. Práce je rozdělena do tří hlavních kapitol - teoretické, metodologické a analytické části. Teoretická část se skládá ze tří hlavních témat - již zmiňované negativní kampaně, politického marketingu, kde je hlavní pozornost upřena na proměnu politického marketingu v éře internetu a sociálních médií, a konečně na problematiku genderu. Každé z těchto témat obsahuje vlastní konceptualizaci hlavních definic a pojmů a v případě negativní kampaně je taktéž představena typologie tohoto fenoménu. Kapitola metodologie popisuje sběr dat a podrobný proces analýzy. Tweety byly rozděleny do šesti kategorií na základě jejich negativity, dále do jednotlivých témat, a nakonec bylo u každého tweetu zkoumáno, zda obsahuje genderový aspekt. Zároveň jsou v této kapitole formulovány dvě výzkumné otázky. Začátek analytické části je věnován trumpismu, dále využití internetu a sociálních médií v americkém politickém prostředí, negativní kampani v americkém politickém prostředí a konečně Trumpovu užívání Twitteru a jeho prezidentským kampaním z let 2016 a 2020. Potom se analytická část přesouvá k samotné analýze 3303 twitterových příspěvků Donalda Trumpa z předvolebních období z let 2016 a 2020 s důrazem na negativitu a tweety s genderovým aspektem. Zakončení práce je věnováno shrnutí výsledků analýzy, ve kterém jsou zodpovězeny obě výzkumné otázky, a závěru. Obhájeno

    Authors: Plundrich, Miroslav;

    The current international system finds itself at a stage where foreign relations are being formed by the official governments of individual states and also by other, often diverse, actors. In particular, non-state actors have been establishing, far more than ever, foreign contacts with other actors in areas such as trade, investment, technology exchange, and others. However, the current academic field suffers from a gap in the conceptualization and research of foreign activities by non-state armed actors. This study presents a new conceptual approach to foreign activities by non-state armed actors and presents two questions for a debate in international relations: Can we grasp such foreign activities by non-state armed actors that are close to diplomacy? And, if so, how can this be achieved? V rámci této práce přicházím s tvrzením, že: 1) je to právě druhá nastíněná linie zahraničních aktivit, která dnes dělá z NOA daleko nebezpečnější a konkurenceschopné hráče v mezinárodním prostředí, protože vykonávají (či jsou schopni vykonávat) obdobné zahraniční aktivity jako suverénní státy; a 2) že výzkumné koncepty věnující se NOA a jejich aktivitám nejsou pro správné zachycení této linie zcela dostatečné, neboť jsou značně ovlivněny převládajícím státocentrismem (jde např. o koncepty jako terorismus, transnacionální organizovaný zločin, rebelie, povstalectví, partyzánský boj a další).

    Authors: Němeček, Štefan;

    After the French revolution and after the first clashes in Europe, the United States of America became one of the main neutral powers. This position proved to be favourable for the states of the Union because it increased the amount of the trade with both belligerent. However, Great Britain got to the conclusion that American neutrality allowed France to use the USA as a carrier of their goods and thereby was advantage of the British maritime dominance limited. Moreover, the Royal Navy was not willing to be passive during the expansion of the American Navy by the British deserters. Gradually were introduced harsher methods against ships of the USA despite the possibility of worsening mutual relationships. This British policy in the end led to the beginning of the American economic warfare against Great Britain; similarly was such a form of the countermeasure then applied against Napoleonic France. Reluctance of both European powers to had met American insistences led the USA to attempt to win over France for their demands. By doing so they believed that this would persuade Great Britain to withdraw from their standpoints. This did not happen, and it only deepened the disputes in the British-American relationships which eventually steer the course to the declaration of the War by the USA. Spojené státy americké se po francouzské revoluci a následných válečných střetech v Evropě dostaly do pozice jedné z hlavních neutrálních mocností. Pro státy Unie se tato pozice ukázala být velice příhodná, neboť zvýšila míru obchodu s oběma stranami konfliktu. Avšak Velká Británie usoudila, že americká neutralita umožnila Francii využívat USA jako přepravce svého zboží, a tím limitovala výhodu britské námořní dominance. Navíc královské námořnictvo nechtělo přihlížet, jak se americké námořní kapacity rozšiřují i o desertéry z britských lodí. Postupně tak došlo na prosazení tvrdších postupů vůči lodím USA i za cenu možného zhoršení vztahů. Tato britská politika nakonec vedla k zahájení americké hospodářské války vůči Velké Británii a následně byla tato forma odvety aplikována i vůči napoleonské Francii. Neochota obou dvou evropských mocností ustoupit americkým požadavkům vedla USA k pokusu naklonit si vůči svým nárokům Francii, a tím i přesvědčit Velkou Británii, aby ustoupila ze svých stanovisek. To se nestalo a došlo jen na další zhoršení britsko-amerických vztahů, což mělo ve svých důsledcích za následek vyhlášení války ze strany USA. Obhájeno

    Authors: Tomanová, Zuzana;

    Winston Churchill is an important personality of British history, but not even his merits in the World War II could prevent people from questioning his real political intentions and ideologies. Even during his life, his racist remarks and decisions where not accepted among his colleagues. After the World War II his personage was put on some sort of pedestal for winners in the Western society and his controversies were mostly pushed aside. Protests against racism which were happening all around the world led by the movement Black Lives Matter in 2020, completely changed these arrangements. Today Winston Churchill is accused of not only racism and racially motivated murders, torture and starvation of citizen which lived under the British Empire, but he is also accused of ableism. Because of these changes, there are multiple discussions happening about perception of the past through modern principles or systemic racism. Winston Churchill je důležitou osobou britských dějin, avšak ani jeho zásluhy za druhé světové války nezabraňují lidem zpochybňovat jeho skutečné politické záměry a ideologie. Již za svého života nebyly jeho rasistické názory a rozhodnutí přijímány ani mezi jeho kolegy. Po druhé světové válce se však jeho postava dostala v západním světě na stupínek vítězů a kontroverze byly z větší míry odsunuty stranou. V roce 2020 se při celosvětových protestech proti rasismu, v jejichž čele stálo hnutí Black Lives Matter, toto změnilo. Dnes je jeho osoba obviňována nejen z rasismu a rasisticky motivovaného vraždění, mučení a vyhladovění obyvatel žijících v částech Britského impéria, ale je obviňován například i z ableizmu. Kvůli těmto změnám probíhá diskuze nejen o vnímání historie moderními zásadami, ale i například o systematickém rasismu. Obhájeno

    Authors: Šimon, M. (Martin); Křížková, I.; Klsák, A.;

    This article contributes to the discussion of the segregation of immigrants by presenting evidence from a new destination country of international migration. It explores residential patterns of immigrants, defined by citizenship, and their development in selected large Czech cities. The analysis is focused on six main immigrant groups. New register data provided by Alien Police of the Czech Republic are utilized for the computation of geospatial grid data. The changes in population distribution are measured by the dissimilarity index, which is commonly used in segregation research. The main result indicates a major trend of decreasing spatial dissimilarity between the Czech majority and immigrant groups. The steady and slow inflow of immigrants does not lead to distinct patterns of segregation in the country – with a few specific exceptions.

    Authors: Jackson, Ladislav;

    Authors: Krejcar, Matyáš;

Obhájeno

    Authors: Hozmanová, Veronika;

Obhájeno

    Authors: Šnoblová, Štěpánka;

    Texas is a very specific state that elects Democrats on the one hand and Republicans on the other. This division is due to the proximity of the border with Mexico, where the southern part of Texas is predominantly inhabited by residents of the Hispanic ethnic group who sympathize with the Democrats. The further you go from the border the less support Democrats are getting. The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to approach the geographical aspects that influence the election of the President of the United States of America. Specifically, the author focused on the US election in 2016 in Texas. To achieve this goal, a theoretical and practical part was made. The theoretical part focuses on the US political system itself and the procedure of electing the president. The practical part of the work focuses on demographic, economic and ethnic factors influencing the choice. Correlation analysis then compares the relationship between the factors and Hillary Clinton's support. The work was supplemented by a survey, which brought a different point of view of the results. The output of the work is the evaluation of the examined factors in comparison with the correlation analysis and the survey. Texas je velmi specifický stát, který na jedné straně volí demokraty a na straně druhé republikány. Toto rozdělení je dáno blízkostí hranice s Mexikem, neboť jižní část Texasu je převážně obydlena obyvateli Hispánské etnické skupiny, kteří sympatizují s demokraty. Čím dál se counties vzdalují od této hranice, tím menší podporu demokraté zaznamenávají. Cílem této bakalářské práce bylo přiblížení geografických aspektů, které ovlivňují volbu prezidenta Spojených států amerických a to s konkrétním zaměřením na americké volby v roce 2016 v Texasu. K dosažení tohoto cíle byla vyhotovena teoretická a praktická část. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na samotný politický systém USA a postup při volbě prezidenta. Praktická část analyzuje faktory ekonomické, demografické a etnické ovlivňující volbu. Korelační analýza následně porovnává vzájemný vztah mezi výše zmíněnými faktory a podporou Hillary Clintonové. Práce byla doplněna o dotazníkové šetření, které přineslo další pohled na výsledky. Výstupem práce je vyhodnocení zkoumaných faktorů v porovnání s korelační analýzou a dotazníkovým šetřením.     Authors: Konopásek, Tomáš;

Obhájeno
