The Schengen Area is one of the pillars of the European project. But it has been affected by several difficulties: the serious consequences of the global economic and financial crisis (2008-2018), growing concerns over external migratory pressure and the question of enlargement, fears of social dumping and, since March 2020, the COVID-19 crisis. Identifying these obstacles is vital so that pragmatic solutions can be found without jeopardising the founding principle.

This policy paper is based on the findings of the H2020 project CONDISOBS, which was conducted by Lorenzo Vianelli at the University of Luxembourg, thanks to funding received from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 838722. CONDISOBS explored the governance of the mobility of asylum seekers in the European Union through a multi-sited qualitative study based on in-depth semi-structured interviews with state officials, representatives of international organisations and non-governmental organisations, lawyers, members of advocacy groups, social workers and activists. Interview material was integrated by an extensive review of academic literature, policy documents and institutional and non-governmental reports. Data was collected between October 2020 and June 2021. This policy paper is part of a series on the hotspot approach, which also includes a policy paper on the features of this mechanism in a broad sense and one on its implementation in Greece. L’impact des outils numériques sur l’innovation et la découverte en histoire est un phénomène moins étudié d’une perspective formelle. A partir d’une étude de cas en histoire orale sur le caractère multidimensionnel de la construction européenne, la conférence portera sur la mesure dans laquelle le multimédia et l’analyse textométrique entraineraient (ou pas) des pistes novatrices de recherche.

In the framework of the research project "Pierre Werner and Europe", interview with Hans Tietmeyer, President of the Deutsche Bundesbank from 1993 to 1999, carried out by the Centre Virtuel de la Connaissance sur l’Europe (CVCE) on 10 February 2011 in Königstein im Taunus. The interview was conducted by François Klein, a Research Associate at the CVCE, and particularly focuses on the following subjects: the Werner Report, the Delors Committee and the Treaty of Maastricht, preparations for a common currency, the Stability and Growth Pact and the coordination of economic policies, the Member States not participating in Monetary Union, the role of the Bank for International Settlements and the future of the euro.

Space systems security is an emerging discipline in cyberphysical systems security domain. The research conducted in the field has to be done using realistic assumptions and pieces of equipment that take into account multi-disciplinary character of space systems. In CritiX, we've built the Space Systems Safety and Security lab to facilitate the research on space systems and to support the education of future generation of space systems security specialists.
