The states and the inputs are required to remain inside pre-specified safety sets at all times despite unknown disturbances. In this technical note, we focus on the requirement that the control policy is distributed, in the sense that it can only be based on partial information about the history of the outputs. It is well-known that when a condition denoted as Quadratic Invariance (QI) holds, the optimal distributed control policy can be computed in a tractable way. Our goal is to unify and generalize the class of information structures over which quadratic invariance is equivalent to a test over finitely many binary matrices. The test we propose certifies convexity of the output-feedback distributed control problem in finite-horizon given any arbitrarily defined information structure, including the cases of time varying communication networks and forgetting mechanisms. Furthermore, the framework we consider allows for including polytopic constraints on the states and the inputs in a natural way, without affecting convexity. Measurements of jet substructure describing the composition of quark- and gluon-initiated jets are presented. Proton-proton (pp) collision data at √s = 13 TeV collected with the CMS detector are used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1. Generalized angularities are measured that characterize the jet substructure and distinguish quark- and gluon-initiated jets. These observables are sensitive to the distributions of transverse momenta and angular distances within a jet. The analysis is performed using a data sample of dijet events enriched in gluon-initiated jets, and, for the first time, a Z+jet event sample enriched in quark-initiated jets. The observables are measured in bins of jet transverse momentum, and as a function of the jet radius parameter. Each measurement is repeated applying a “soft drop” grooming procedure that removes soft and large angle radiation from the jet. Using these measurements, the ability of various models to describe jet substructure is assessed, showing a clear need for improvements in Monte Carlo generators. CMS collaboration: et al. Andersen; James D. Cockburn; Marian Heil; Andreas Maier; Jennifer M. Smillie; The production of a Higgs boson in association with at least two jets receives contributions both from the fusion of weak vector bosons (VBF) and from QCD processes, especially gluon fusion (GF). The former process is important for measuring the coupling of the Higgs boson to weak bosons, whereas the latter process plays an important role in determining any CP-admixtures in the Higgs sector. In this paper we go beyond the current state-of-the-art for fixed order calculations of the GF process (i.e. one loop H + 2j including full quark mass effects) by including the all-order effects in leading log(ŝ/p t $^2$ ), together with full quark mass and loop-propagator kinematic effects. We calculate the mass-dependent components and implement the resummation within the framework of High Energy Jets. The high-energy effects suppress the prediction compared to fixed order at large Δy$_{12}$ and mjj (and therefore within the usual VBF cuts of widely separated jets), just as found in the limit of m$_t$ → ∞. The mass dependence is more significant than at fixed order, because the systematic inclusion of the leading logarithms in ŝ/p t $^2$ results in a hardening of the transverse momentum of the Higgs boson, which in turn probes in more detail the loop-structure of the coupling. In particular, the full mass dependence reduces the cross section within VBF cuts by 11% compared to a calculation based just on the infinite top mass limit, but the impact of the bottom quark remains small. This all implies that the gluon-fusion contribution within VBF-cuts is less severe than current estimates suggest. This report analyses the salience and position of the German government concerning differentiated integration in the European Union. The report employs a range of quantitative and qualitative methods to analyse government programs, speeches of the prime minister and parliamentary debates. The results of the salience analysis show that differentiated integration is sparsely mentioned by the German government. It occurs most frequently in parliamentary debates, where it is discussed on a concrete level and concerns instances and mechanisms of differentiated integration. The results of the position analysis show that the German government and opposition parties take a very similar stance that encourages homogenous European legislation in reference to Germany’s historical role and responsibility in Europe. However, when the parliament discusses a specific issue that is in one of the parties’ or Germany’s general interest, mechanisms of differentiated integration are embraced as a way to move forward. This stance can be summarized as homogenisation if possible, DI if necessary. This [report/publication/etc] is part of the InDivEU project which has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement number 822304.

Two types of indicators are suggested. Based on income distributions data we propose several indicators (GINI, AROP, and poverty gap) that show the shape of the income distribution at various stages of the distributive process. Also a mesure of redistribution (i.e. reductions in the GINI and AROP) are suggested. Based on model family analysis, we propose several indicators on the size of benefits, as stipulated in legal frameworks. Attached to this report is an excel file that includes all this data for a large number of European countries and years.

The first measurement of the CP structure of the Yukawa coupling between the Higgs boson and τ leptons is presented. The measurement is based on data collected in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV by the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb−1. The analysis uses the angular correlation between the decay planes of τ leptons produced in Higgs boson decays. The effective mixing angle between CP-even and CP-odd τ Yukawa couplings is found to be −1 ± 19°, compared to an expected value of 0 ± 21° at the 68.3% confidence level. The data disfavour the pure CP-odd scenario at 3.0 standard deviations. The results are compatible with predictions for the standard model Higgs boson. CMS Collaboration: et al. Peer reviewed
