    Authors: Hörauf, Georg;

    The following study serves to develop consciousness about the smaller, not very well-known,emigration from the two southern Swedish cities of Växjö and Kalmar, which are situated inthe province of Småland, to Germany between 1865 and 1914. By using the digital archive ofEmiWeb, the gender, age and marital status of the emigrants have been analyzed and theyhave been categorized into three different social classes depending on the title or occupationthey had at the time of emigration. Furthermore, the results of the research of the two citieshave been compared with each other which resulted in a lot of similarities between the citieswhere the greatest part of the emigrants were between the ages of 20 and 29, unmarried, andpart of the working class. Overall, every age group was represented which also includedindividuals over the age of 50 and children between the ages of 0 and 9. Members of themiddle class and bourgeoisie were also present but to a lesser extent. Concerning the gender among the emigrants, the results of this study show that the proportion of women is greaterthan that of men, foremost in the first of the five periods in which this study is divided. Altogether this study provides a deeper insight and understanding of which people emigratedto Germany. However, the number of unregistered emigrants hinders the capacity to present areliable and comprehensive generalization about them.

    Authors: Beneitez Prudencio, José Javier;

    El estudio sobre la historia en Michael Oakeshott como forma peculiar del conocimiento humano sub specie praeteritorum constituye no sólo una relevante explicación de la naturaleza de esta materia sino que, además, se erige en la piedra angular para comprender los problemas filosóficos que trata este pensador. El presente artículo pretende exponer la defensa que Oakeshott hizo de la historia en un sentido idealista poniéndola en relación con su teoría general sobre el conocimiento humano. The study of Michael Oakeshott’s concept of history as a form sub specie praeteritorum of human understanding consti tutes not only an important explication of this subject but also serves as the corner stone of his treatment of other philosophical topics. Thus the purpose of this article is to present his idealistic defense of history in relation with his more general theory of human knowledge.

    Authors: Ahlm, Magnus;

    Communication has always been a key factor in the survival of mankind, with the spoken word serving as our primary tool. In a sophisticated matter that word has been documented and transformed into written language, where each letter and phrase possess attributes which could evoke images and associations in our minds. These capacities change within different contexts where the words take on different forms and visual traits known as typography. This essay, Typography in Motion, investigates how visual communication in art is affected by typography and what kind of attributes they possess when moved into this new aesthetic environment. To be specific, when typography has been relocated to the context of graffiti and pop art. Through the lens of visual culture studies and theories from W.J.T. Mitchell, this essay examines how images come to life in different cultural settings, where they appear to possess own desires and drives. Mitchell describes a “double consciousness” where we, the observers, have an irrational way of thinking about images. Either we see them as overvalued objects or take a more skeptical approach to their symbolic values. This concept is analyzed and discussed throughout the essay where typography was both idolized, fetishistic and totemistic in one cultural context and in another seen as blasphemy. The destruction of images, iconoclasm, can be seen as a byproduct in the “ecosystem” in which typography is situated but also as a characteristic in its visual communication. My argument is that typography in graffiti and pop art challenges existing norms, the concept of art and the appearance of public urban spaces. Typography evolved in separate settings where aesthetics was shaped in varied ways. The visual communication, like in the cavemen paintings, expressed a desire and drive. Shaped by their era and environment, that is, by what they had seen and experienced. The cavemen used depictions of animals as symbols of the main human need, hunger, while modern humans used typography as a symbol of a new vital need, the identity. The typography in graffiti had a desire to showcase the identity while the typography in pop had the drive to advertise the overvalued object and through irony expose the materialistic identity of a modern society.

    Authors: Petersén, Frida;

    Digitization is an increasingly important subject within the archival profession, especially as our society grows more and more dependent on digital assets. People generally expect everything to be available to them online no matter the time or place, otherwise the material might as well not exist. When it comes to preserving and making our cultural heritage available through digitization this poses an issue. Digitization takes time and requires resources, which forces the archives to decide which material to digitize, on what grounds and how to best make the digital material accessible. This essay explores the digitization of our cultural heritage through the lens of value theory. By examining what type of materials the archives prioritize for digitization, why, and how they utilize the digitized material we can observe the values and principles these approaches stem from. The study is conducted by using content analysis to examine documents such as annual reports, budget documentation and digitization strategies from two archival organizations during the time periods 2010–2015 and 2020–2024. The results show that the choices the archives make regarding what to digitize are based largely on preservation, demand and research requests. Both organizations also view digitization as a key element to working in alignment with democratic values. The approaches to this varied however as one organization focused more on streamlining their organization through digitization, while the other focused more on accessibility and spreading knowledge through their digitized materials.

    Authors: Cunha, Katiane Tavares da Silva;

    A presente dissertação tem como objetivo primordial a análise da trajetória de vida de Maria Amabini de Moraes (esposa do Senador Hermenegildo Lopes de Moraes) e suas contribuições para o desenvolvimento educacional, cultural e social, no município de Morrinhos e sul de Goiás entre os anos de 1925 e 1960. Período em que a cidade era um importante centro político, econômico e cultural com destaque na educação devido aos Ginásios Senador Hermenegildo de Moraes e D. Maria Amabini de Moraes, instituições de ensino que foram construídos por Maria Amabini durante a década de 1930 e 1940. Para tanto, além de fontes documentais, foram aplicados questionários aos professores e funcionários do Ginásio Senador Hermenegildo de Moraes, para atestar o conhecimento dos mesmos sobre Maria Amabini e entrevistas com pessoas que tiveram contato direto com Maria Amabini, que ficou popularmente conhecida como Dona Fiica e que foi atestada o reconhecimento da sua importância na história e desenvolvimento da cidade e região. A pesquisa revelou que, apesar da sua importância, com o passar dos anos a memória desta importante personalidade feminina e suas ações em prol da educação, cultura e no social tem caído no esquecimento, permanecendo apenas, na memória de poucas pessoas ainda vivas que tiveram contado direto ou indireto com ela.O que leva a refletir, também, sobre as definições de memória e do esquecimento, bem como a análise dos fatores históricos e culturais de uma sociedade patriarcal que procuram manter o papel das mulheres sempre à margem da História colocando-as na condição de figurantes e, não necessariamente, de personalidades do processo histórico. The main objective of this dissertation is to analyze the life trajectory of Maria Amabini de Moraes (wife of Senator Hermenegildo Lopes de Moraes) and her contributions to educational, cultural and social development, in the municipality of Morrinhos and southern Goiás between the years 1925 and 1960. Period in which the city was an important political, economic and cultural center with emphasis on education due to the Gymnasiums Senador Hermenegildo de Moraes and D. Maria Amabini de Moraes, educational institutions that were built by Maria Amabini during the 1930s and 1940s. To this end, in addition to documentary sources, questionnaires were applied to the teachers and functions of the Senator Hermenegildo de Moraes Gymnasium, to attest their knowledge about Maria Amabini and enntrevistas with people who had direct contact with Maria Amabini, who became popularly known as Dona Fiica and who was attested to the recognition of its importance inthe history and development of the city and region. The research revealed that, despite its importance, over the years the memory of this important female personality and its actions for education, culture and social has fallen into oblivion, remaining only, in the memory of few people still alive who had counted directly or indirandto with it. This also leads to reflecting on the definitions of memory and forgetfulness, as well as the analysis of the historical and cultural factors of a patriarchal society that seek to keep the role of women always on the margins of history by placing them in the condition of extras and, not necessarily, personalities of the historical process.

    Den som vill genomföra ett arbetsföretag som innebär att fornlämningar tas bort eller skadas har i normalfallet kostnadsansvaret för de arkeologiska utredningar och förundersökningar som behöver utföras. Företagarens kostnadsansvar utgår från kulturmiljölagens (KML) syfte att bevara fornlämningar, och varje tillstånd till borttagande innebär ett undantag från bevarandet. Principen bygger på att den som skadar allmänna värden får stå för kostnaden för de åtgärder som behövs.

    Authors: Zorn, Anja;

    V železni dobi in antiki sta bila Sredozemsko in Črno morje pomembna za transport in trgovino. Ljudje so trgovali z žitom, oljem, vinom, kovinami, lesom in drugimi surovinami. Da so lahko prenesli dobrine čez morje v Atene, Rim in druga pomembna mesta, so potrebovali dobro izdelane ladje, ki so omogočale čim varnejšo plovbo. Včasih se je zgodilo, da je zaradi napačno zasnovane ladijske konstrukcije, naravnih vzrokov ali namernega uničenja prišlo do brodoloma. V Sredozemskem in Črnem morju je mogoče najti številne ladijske razbitine iz različnih obdobij, ki nam pomagajo razumeti antična transport in trgovino po morju. V diplomskem delu obravnavamo deset najdišč v globinah večjih od 90 m, ki se nahajajo v današnjih ozemeljskih vodah Izraela, Italije, Malte, Francije in Turčije. Prav tako pa obravnavamo tudi dve najdišči iz ozemeljskih voda Španije in Italije na globini večji od 20 m, kjer so našli ingote. In the Iron Age and in antiquity, the Mediterranean and Black Seas were important for transport and trade. People traded in grain, oil, wine, metals, timber and other raw materials. To carry goods across the sea to Athens, Rome and other important cities, they needed well-made ships that could navigate as safely as possible. Sometimes shipwrecks occurred due to faulty ship design, natural causes or deliberate destruction. Many shipwrecks from different periods can be found in the Mediterranean and Black Sea, helping us to understand ancient transport and trade by sea. In this thesis, ten sites in depths of more than 90 m, located in the present territorial waters of Israel, Italy, Malta, France and Turkey, are discussed. We also discuss two sites from the territorial waters of Spain and Italy at depths greater than 20 m, where ingots were found.

    Authors: Kodrič, Jošt;

    The Ljubljansko Barje is an extensive flatland with occasional elevated areas in the far southern part of the Ljubljana Plain. The area has been the subject of numerous studies in the past, where researchers have explored its geological and archaeological history. During the investigation of the area, theories emerged about its past lacustrine phase, which is believed to have lasted from the end of the Pleistocene to the middle Holocene, due to the sediments found there. The purpose of this study is to confirm the existence of a lake in the Ljubljansko Barje area and to determine the dynamics of its existence. The research was conducted based on an analysis of scientific literature on coastal geomorphological systems, literature on the Ljubljansko Barje, archaeological sites within it, and Lake Ljubljana, as well as a geomorphological analysis of identified forms within the coastal geomorphological system, and an examination of the dynamics of Lake Ljubljana's existence and its shrinkage. In the course of the geomorphological analysis, we first identified the geomorphological forms of the coastal geomorphological system, initially based on LIDAR data and later through field surveys. These forms were then systematically described, and their morphogenesis was explained based on their distribution and lithology. In the geomorphological analysis, we identified eight specific geomorphological forms: cliffs, abrasion platforms, spits, tombolos, deltas, lagoons, beach ridges, and remnants of aggradational shores, which we classified morphogenetically into two groups based on the dominant formation process: aggradational and denudational. We then determined four elevations of Lake Ljubljana's water level based on geomorphological and archaeological data, thus defining the dynamics of Lake Ljubljana's shrinkage. The lake had its greatest extent at the end of the Pleistocene, and it completely dried up between 4,000 BP and 3,500 BP. Ljubljansko barje je obširna uravnava s posameznimi dvignjenimi deli na skrajnem jugu Ljubljanskega polja. Območje je v preteklosti bilo deležno velikega števila raziskav, v sklopu katerih so avtorji preučevali njegovo geološko in arheološko zgodovino. Tekom preučevanja območja so se zaradi sedimentov, ki se na njem pojavljajo izoblikovale teze o njegovi pretekli ojezeritvi, ki naj bi trajala od konca pleistocena, do srednjega holocena. Namen naloge je potrditi obstoj jezera na območju Ljubljanskega barja in določiti dinamiko njegovega obstoja. Raziskava je bila izvedena na podlagi analize znanstvene literature na temo obalnih geomorfnih sistemov, analize literature na temo Ljubljanskega barja, arheoloških najdiščih na njem ter Ljubljanskega jezera, geomorfološke analize identificiranih oblik obalnega geomorfnega sistema, ter preučitve dinamike obstoja Ljubljanskega jezera in njegovega krčenja. V sklopu geomorfološke analize smo najprej identificirali geomorfološke oblike obalnega geomorfnega sistema, najprej na podlagi lidarskih podatkov ter nato s terenskim pregledom, ki smo jih nato sistematično opisali ter na podlagi njihove razporeditve in litologije opisali njihovo morfogenezo. V sklopu geomorfološke analize smo identificirali osem specifičnih geomorfnih oblik: klife, abrazijske police, roglje, tombole, delte, zatoke, obalne kose, ter ostanke agradacijskih obal, ki smo jih morfogenetsko razdelili v dve skupini, glede na prevladujoč proces formacije: agradacijske in denudacijske. Nato smo na podlagi geomorfoloških in arheoloških podatkov določili štiri nadmorske višine gladine Ljubljanskega jezera in tako definirali dinamiko krčenja Ljubljanskega jezera, ki je imelo največji obseg od koncu pleistocena, v celoti pa presahnilo med 4.000BP in 3.500BP.

    Special issue of the Journal of Historical Research in Marketing (JHRM) on “History of Marketing in Spain” – part I. A thorough exploration into the intricate history of marketing in Spain in several fields is presented, especially in the context of tourism. The exploration goes beyond a chronological account, aiming to spotlight the lasting impact of Generation X – a generation that has witnessed and influenced the evolution of marketing practices in Spain. Besides, an analysis of the history of marketing in Spain would not be complete without contemplating the future. As we stand on the cusp of new economic, technological, and societal changes, understanding our past becomes a compass for navigating the complexities of the marketing landscape in the years to come.

    Authors: Hörauf, Georg;

    Authors: Beneitez Prudencio, José Javier;

    Authors: Ahlm, Magnus;

    Authors: Petersén, Frida;

    Authors: Cunha, Katiane Tavares da Silva;

    Authors: Zorn, Anja;

    Authors: Kodrič, Jošt;
