The box-ball system (BBS), which was introduced by Takahashi and Satsuma in 1990, is a soliton cellular automaton. Its dynamics can be linearized by a few methods, among which the best known is the Kerov-Kirillov-Reschetikhin (KKR) bijection using rigged partitions. Recently a new linearization method in terms of "slot configurations" was introduced by Ferrari-Nguyen-Rolla-Wang, but its relations to existing ones have not been clarified. In this paper we investigate this issue and clarify the relation between the two linearizations. For this we introduce a novel way of describing the BBS dynamics using a carrier with seat numbers. We show that the seat number configuration also linearizes the BBS and reveals explicit relations between the KKR bijection and the slot configuration. In addition, by using these explicit relations, we also show that even in case of finite carrier capacity the BBS can be linearized via the slot configuration.

Green techniques to extract natural pigments are gaining prominence among consumers and food industries. This trend is predominantly due to the harmful effects imparted by commonly used synthetic dyes and the unwarranted stress created on our ecosystem. The objectives of this study were to obtain natural pigments (anthocyanins and chlorophyll) from Estonian-gown European green and red gooseberries by ultrasonic-assisted citric acid-mediated extraction method and perform antioxidant profiling (quantification via HPLC analysis). Green gooseberry extracts showed lower content of targeted compounds, with low concentrations of rutin (0.7–1.2 mg/ L) and quercetin 3-glucoside (0.9–1.3 mg/L), while in the red gooseberry extracts, the amount was slightly higher (1.4–6.9 and 1.0–1.3 mg/L, respectively) with 0.6–6.8 mg/L cyanidin 3-glucoside and 0.32–0.35 mg/L peonidin 3 glucoside recorded. Further, the yield of anthocyanins ranged between 1.14–1.79 and 1.86–3.63 mg/100 g in green and red gooseberries, respectively. Total phenols ranged between 162–392 and 263–987 mg GAE/100 g in green and red gooseberry extracts, respectively. The DPPH free radicals scavenging activity showed 73–86% and 87–91% inhibition in both green and red gooseberry, respectively. Results showed significant improvements in pigment extraction with higher values obtained for targeted antioxidant compounds using conventional and UAE extraction (aqueous extract), thus confirming that green extractions are a reliable technique to obtain pigments of interest from natural sources. The results support consumers’ demand and open up the avenue to explore pigments as natural colourants in food and cosmetics applications.

Este trabajo permite comprender, entre otros factores, los saberes, la experiencia, la iniciativa, los criterios y procedimientos sobre los cuales la Fuerza Aérea Colombiana desarrolla sus operaciones militares, acopiando todo tipo de reflexiones, como la incorporación de los principios, reglas y costumbres de la guerra a su doctrina, y como esto, dio origen a un Proceso Militar de Toma de Decisiones lógico, sistémico y organizado que integró en su arte, ciencia como garantía de no repetición preventiva al Asesor Jurídico Operacional, siendo un garante del respeto por las normas humanitarias y militares. Resistance committees in Sudan have an extensive history of organising, and have come to the forefront of non-violent resistance movements since the coup of October 2021. Despite the variety of committee activities that support Sudanese society, many resistance committees have been excluded from Sudanese political processes. Since the start of the conflict in April 2023, resistance committees have played a central role in providing social protection and humanitarian relief provisions to citizens. Committees continue to prioritise and emphasize the need for long-term, meaningful, sustainable change across the country, and promote inclusion, economic prosperity, adequate social service provision, and peace. Resistance committees would benefit greatly from financial and capacity building support from a variety of relevant stakeholders. This support would allow them to carry out their activities effectively and make meaningful contributions to nation-building activities and political processes.

O ácaro-da-necrose, Aceria guerreronis Keifer (Acari: Eriophyidae), é considerado praga-chave na cultura do coqueiro. O controle químico é, atualmente, uma das formas mais utilizadas para controlar essa praga. Frente aos diversos problemas sociais, econômicos e ambientais ocasionados pelo uso de agrotóxicos, surge a necessidade de alternativas ambientalmente viáveis para o seu controle como o uso de fungos entomopatogênicos. Assim, este trabalho objetivou estimar as concentrações letais da cepa cepa Bb 032 do fungo Beauveria bassiana (Bals) Vuill (Moniliales: Moniliaceae) ao ácaro-da-necrose e avaliar a seletividade do óleo de nim, óleo mineral e da calda sulfocálcica no crescimento micelial do fungo in vitro. Esses óleos e a calda são defensivos alternativos usados no controle de pragas do coqueiro, no entanto não se conhece seus possíveis efeitos deletérios sobre B. bassiana. Seis concentrações do fungo foram pulverizadas em arenas com ácaros para determinar as concentrações letais. Posteriormente, concentrações do óleo de nim, óleo mineral e da calda sulfocálcica foram micropipetadas em placas de Petri para determinar a sua seletividade ao fungo. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de PROBIT para estimar as concentrações do fungo B. bassiana ao ácaro-da-necrose e ANOVA para medidas repetidas para estimar a seletividade dos óleos e da calda ao fungo B. bassiana. A concentração letal média CL50 para a cepa Bb 032 foi de 1,31x105 conídios/mL e a CL80 foi de 2,04x106 . Os óleos de nim e mineral foram seletivos a B. bassiana (F = 79,6; p < 0,0001). Assim, conclui-se que o fungo B. bassiana apresenta potencial de controle do ácaro-da-necrose, bem como o óleo de nim e mineral podem ser empregados no manejo de pragas na cultura do coqueiro sem que interfiram no crescimento micelial do fungo, e possivelmente em sua eficiência no controle do ácaro. The coconut mite, Aceria guerreronis Keifer (Acari: Eriophyidae), is a key pest in coconut plantations. Chemical control is currently one of the most used strategies to control this pest. Faced with the various social, economic, and environmental problems caused by the use of pesticides, there is a need for environmentally viable alternatives for its control, such as entomopathogenic fungi. Thus, this work aimed to estimate the lethal concentrations of the Bb 032 strain of fungus Beauveria bassiana (Bals) Vuill (Moniliales: Moniliaceae) to the coconut mite and to evaluate the selectivity of neem oil, mineral oil, and lime sulfur on the mycelial growth of the fungus in vitro. These oils and lime sulfur are alternative pesticides used in the control of coconut pests, however their side effects on B. bassiana are yet to be studied. Six concentrations of the fungus were sprayed in arenas with mites to determine the lethal concentrations. Subsequently, concentrations of neem and mineral oils, and lime sulfur were micro pipetted in Petri dishes to determine their selectivity to the fungus. Data were subjected to PROBIT analysis to estimate the concentrations of the fungus B. bassiana to the coconut mite and to ANOVA repeated measures to estimate the selectivity of oils and lime sulfur to the fungus B. bassiana. The mean lethal concentration CL50 was 1.31x107 conidia/mL, and the CL80₀ was 2.04x10⁶. Neem oil and mineral oil were selective for B. bassiana (F = 79.6, p < 0.0001). Thus, B. bassiana has the potential to control the coconut mite, as well as neem and mineral oil can be used in the management of coconut pests without impairing micelial growth of the fungus, and possibly not affecting its efficiency in the control of the mite.
