This volume is a collection of some of the most recent, geological and geomorphologic cartographic representations of key areas of the Italian territory and its evolution, illustrated by means of state-of-the-art methodologies, appropriate to each site-specific geological condition; it contains 38 contributions, centred on areas that are representative of the main geological aspects of the Italian territory. The main purpose of the present work is to combine data, cartographic representations and evolutive interpetations, with the related research methodologies. Moreover, this volume is intended to foster dialogue between experts in the field of geological cartography, and serve as a didactic tool for Earth Science students and Earth scientists. We believe the above mentioned approach was agreed upon by all of the contributors of the present work, despite the inevitable differences in style and expression. The first section of the volume provides a brief description of the geologic evolution of the Italian territory, and the final one contains a physical map of Italy where the location of the studied areas is indicated. Their cartographic representation is the ultimate synthesis of the methodologies adopted and described by the contributors. The contributions that compose the present volume are arranged following thematic areas, starting from the ones dedicated to the Quaternary (marine geology, geomorphology, neotectonics and surface deposits analysis), to the ones related to recent and active volcanism, and then to stratigraphic, tectonic and kinematic topics related to the classic Apenninic Meso-Cenozoic successions. Finally, the deformative features of different Alpine basements are considered. A special conclusive section is dedicated to the cartographic illustration of two geosite case studies, for which a graphical project targeted to the lay public has been elaborated.

Biomolecular Sciences: uniting Biology and Chemistry www.rug.nl/research/gbb The scientific discoveries in biomolecular sciences have benefitted enormously from technological innovations. At the Groningen Biomolecular Science and Biotechnology Institute (GBB) we now sequence a genome in days, construct thousands of mutants, assemble novel pathways, compute the motions of and within molecules, and visualize single molecules and cells by electron and advanced fluorescence microscopy. The GBB was founded in 1992, but the history of biomolecular sciences in Groningen dates back to much earlier times, arguably starting with the appointment of Max Gruber as the first professor in Biochemistry in 1956. The GBB was established to unite the excellent research on biomolecules and cellular systems within the disciplines of Biology and Chemistry, providing a platform for multidisciplinary training of postdoctoral fellows and (under)graduate students. Since 1993, the GBB has been accredited as a Dutch research school by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences and successfully performs to these standards for 25 years.

The use of games in the tourism sector has been applied to an increasing number of tourism destinations. The objective of this research is to propose the creation of a digital game, using the storytelling, which allows to deepen the knowledge of the cultural and natural heritage about Peso da Régua. In defining the research methodology, it was considered appropriate to imple- ment the collection and analysis of primary data through a qualitative approach, using the focus group, with the objective of collecting information on cultural and natural heritage, identifying tourism resources based on wine production and gastronomy, as well as the most relevant characteristics of the region. The results presented show that telling the story about a tourism destination is an important element for gamification.
