Research data keyboard_double_arrow_right Dataset , Other ORP type 2020 Austria EnglishZenodo EC | LANDSENSEBanko, Gebhard; Birli, Barbara; Stickler, Therese; Sturn, Tobias; Wannemacher, Karin; Wildenberg, Martin; Moorthy, Inian;Citizen Science has become a vital source for data collection when the spatial and temporal extent of a project makes it too expensive to send experts into the field. However, involving citizens can go further than that – participatory projects focusing on subjective parameters can fill in the gap between local community needs and stakeholder approaches to tackle key social and environmental issues. The Horizon 2020 project, LandSense, is building a modern citizen observatory for Land Use & Land Cover (LULC) monitoring, by engaging citizens to transform current approaches to environmental decision making. Citizen Observatories are community-driven mechanisms to complement existing environmental monitoring systems and can be fostered through mobile and web applications, allowing citizens to play a key role in environmental monitoring. Within this project, the City Oases mobile application, focused on the city of Vienna, has been developed that aims not only to stimulate civic engagement to monitor changes within the urban environment, but also to enable users to drive improvements by providing city planners with information about the public perception of urban spaces. City Oases was launched in March 2019. Where are the best places for a romantic date? Where can you skate? Where is it cool on a hot summer’s day? Open urban spaces can be used in many ways. Pick an activity in the CityOases app and we show the spots where you can do them, including the rating of previous users and pictures from the location. If you visit the spot you can rate it as well based on a few selected subjective criteria. If you know a cool spot that is openly accessible but not marked in our map yet? Just add it with a list of activities and some pictures. Additionally, you can input your perceptions including whether it is noisy, clean or if the infrastructure is attractive. The picture module within the application promotes you to take photos in the four cardinal directions. Users can search for specific activities, visit one of the points indicated on the map and then evaluate this point. We show that the wavelet spaces are rigid in the sense that non-trivial intersection between them imposes strong restrictions. Moreover, we use this to derive consequences for wavelet transforms related to convexity and functions of positive type. Motivated by the reproducing kernel Hilbert space structure of wavelet spaces we examine an interpolation problem. In the setting of time–frequency analysis, this problem turns out to be equivalent to the HRT-conjecture. Finally, we consider the problem of whether all the wavelet spaces Wg(Hπ) of a locally compact group G collectively exhaust the ambient space L2(G). We show that the answer is affirmative for compact groups, while negative for the reduced Heisenberg group.

Aizstāvēšana: 2020. gada 16. jūnijā plkst. 14.00 gan Rīgas Stradiņa universitātes Medicīnas promocijas padomes atklātā sēdē Rīgā, Dzirciema ielā 16, Hipokrāta auditorijā, gan attālināti Zoom tiešsaistes platformā. Miega artērijas stenoze ir nozīmīgs išēmiska insulta riska faktors. Aptuveni 10–15% gadījumu išēmisks insults rodas trombembolijas dēļ no iepriekš asimptomātiskas iekšējās miega artērijas > 50% stenozes.

The FluCov project, covering 22 countries, was initiated to monitor the impact of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic on influenza activity. Methods This project consisted of an epidemiological bulletin and NIC survey. The survey, designed to assess the impact of the pandemic on the influenza surveillance system, was shared with 36 NICs located across 22 countries. NICs were invited to reply between November 2021 and March 2022. Results We received 18 responses from NICs in 14 countries. Most NICs (76%) indicated that the number of samples tested for influenza decreased. Yet, many NICs (60%) were able to increase their laboratory testing capacity and the "robustness" (e.g., number of sentinel sites) (59%) of their surveillance systems. In addition, sample sources (e.g., hospital or outpatient setting) shifted. All NICs reported a higher burden of work following the onset of the pandemic, with some NICs hiring additional staff or partial outsourcing to other institutes or departments. Many NICs anticipate the future integration of SARS-CoV-2 surveillance into the existing respiratory surveillance system. Discussion The survey shows the profound impact of SARS-CoV-2 on national influenza surveillance in the first 27 months of the pandemic. Surveillance activities were temporarily disrupted, whilst priority was given to SARS-CoV-2. However, most NICs have shown rapid adaptive capacity underlining the importance of strong national influenza surveillance systems. These developments have the potential to benefit global respiratory surveillance in the years to come; however, questions about sustainability remain.
