Although plenty of project websites, service registries, and data repositories existed, they were mostly fragmented. The lack of contextualisation connecting these assets and offering domain-relevant means to discuss and enrich them was evident. Also, there was a need to digitalise this research domain which, in most cases, was not yet digital native. This siloed environment was the challenge SSHOC set out to bridge in January 2019. The solution to solve this problems was found in the SSH Open Marketplace, delivered in 2022. It is a discovery platform supporting researchers in the multi-faceted domain of humanities and social sciences at every step of the research data lifecycle. The SSH Open Marketplace is available on the EOSC Portal and was developed by SSHOC The full list of EOSC in practice stories is available here

Enabling reproducibility of your work by others is an important step in ensuring research quality. There are currently many barriers to moving towards reproducible research such as upskilling researchers in the practices, software and infrastructure needed to do reproducible research and also the need to address how we can, as a discipline, deal with issues like sensitive data. In this article, we seek to introduce reproducible research in an understandable manner so that archaeological researchers can learn where and how to start with this approach. We describe what reproducible archaeological research can look like and suggest three different computational skill levels of constructing reproducible research workflows (a research workflow is the different parts of a research lifecycle such as data collection, data analysis, data archiving, etc, and making all stages reproducible by using a history tracking system (version control) and transparent documation). Finally, in an extensive appendix, we address common questions about reproducible research to remove the stigma about these issues and suggest ways to overcome them.

Both sides benefit from this interdisciplinary junction: technology enhances the preservation and diffusion of oral materials, while exploiting them to develop cutting-edge tools for their treatment. This chapter deals with an Italian instantiation of this mutual relationship: the Archivio Vi.Vo. project. Offering innovative solutions concerning metadata, audio restoration, description, and access, Archivio Vi.Vo. aims to build an online platform to host the oral archives from Tuscany. The project is powered by CLARIN-IT, which guarantees its compliance with standards and offers resources for data access and discoverability. Archivio Vi.Vo. has not been built from scratch: it is instead a cross-fertilization of previous initiatives and research projects (e.g., the Gra.fo project). Moreover, the chapter presents the related, contemporary work of a multidisciplinary group striving to synthesize a Vademecum for future generations of oral archive researchers. Lastly, a brief list of tentative ideas for future developments of the Archivio Vi.Vo. platform will be presented.

This landscape review, for which Work Package 5 is responsible, focuses on intellectual access, i.e. providing guidance for finding and sharing literary data, while Work Package 6 approaches the task from a more technological side, collecting and analyzing literary corpora, available formats, tools, and metadata in order to create an exploratory catalogue / inventory of literary corpora and to provide a transformation matrix/toolbox for solving common issues. Yet we coordinate our efforts – beginning with the compilation of the table of literary collections – therefore one can regard these as two sides of the same coin. The review’s point of departure is the abundance of existing data and their diversity or heterogeneity as regards corpus design and underlying concepts, for example the definitions of text (is it a source, an edition, a data set? see chapter 3), the purpose of a corpus (e.g. general, reference, or monitoring corpora, special purpose corpora; see chapter 4), central considerations or criteria regarding the construction of a corpus (sampling, balancing, representativeness, annotation model(s), data format(s); see likewise chapter 4). How can I go about obtaining data without transgressing ethical or legal boundaries (see chapter 5)? We ask: How can we assist literary scholars in searching for and finding existing data that are relevant to their own research questions? And additionally, what kind of research question is relevant concerning the present-day state of the data landscape and literariness and textuality? The review contains following sections: 1. In T6.3 we delivered 12 training sessions and all training materials are published in open access1. In addition, we designed, developed and implemented an open workflow for the definition and management of the Open Science Training series, through the definition of a TRIPLE Training Toolkit, which reproduces the guidelines that have been designed and implemented to produce FAIR-by design training events. This set of documents constitutes section 1 of the present deliverable. Moreover, section 2 of the report presents four use-cases which address Open Science-related issues from different perspectives. The first subsection (CNR) sheds light on pathways for interdisciplinary collaboration and managing networking challenges. The second subsection (OKMAPS) addresses the need for improved discoverability of resources across research publications, research data and research projects. The third (CLARIN) shows how the connection between data, tools and publications can be implemented and made public. A model is explored to enrich the metadata about language resource data and tools from the CLARIN Resource Families with related publications, making use of the GoTriple platform. This cross-connects the CLARIN Virtual Language Observatory, the SSHOC Open Marketplace and the GoTriple platform. The last subsection (CESSDA) examines the balance between making data more accessible and aligning with legal restrictions. It explains how data is aligned internally to make them easily harvestable, and how, in turn, enrichment features from EOSC (OpenAIRE) and GoTriple systems will be used to improve data at their original sources. Since its inception, the workshop series on Linked Data in Linguistics (LDL) established itself as the main venue for discussing how Linked Open Data (LOD) and semantic web technologies can be used for processing, analysing, publishing, and managing linguistic data. This includes the fields of natural language processing (NLP), language resources (LRs), lexicography and digital humanities (DH), and has been leading to the development of linguistic data science as a new area of study. The LDL workshop series has contributed greatly to the development of the Linguistic Linked Open Data (LLOD) cloud and the development of best practices for publishing and accessing language resources and providing language technology services on the web. Most notably, this includes community standards such as the NLP Interchange Format (NIF), the OntoLex-Lemon model of the W3C Community Group Ontology-Lexica, and numerous domain-specific adaptations and extensions that these models have had an influence on. In addition, there are an increasing number of national, European, and international research projects that build on LLOD technology. These will contribute to its further development and will help ensure the success of this workshop and a high attendance rate. The 10th anniversary edition of the LDL can count on the support of the COST action “NexusLinguarum: European Network for Web-centered Linguistic Data Science”, as well as two Horizon 2020 projects. Firstly, the Prêt-à-LLOD project, which is making linguistic linked open data ready-to-use, and, secondly, the ELEXIS project on building a lexicographic infrastructure.
