Abstract: Het verhaal van Belgische kunstenaar Emile Fabry en het kustplaatsje St Ives, tijdens en na de Eerste Wereldoorlog een geliefde uitvalbasis van de internationale kunstscene. Of hoe de periferie, via een omweg, ook de Brusselse grootstad binnensloop.

Abstract: De voorbije twee eeuwen defileerde Oostende op de catwalk voor badplaatsen in verschillende plunjes. De stad transformeerde van een ingeslapen vissers- en zeehaven naar één van de meest mondaine badplaatsen van Europa. Om vervolgens af te glijden tot ‘lompenkoningin van de Noordzee’ en terug op te klimmen naar de hippe stad die het vandaag is. Maak kennis met de verschillende gedaantes van Oostende, de stad aan zee.

Abstract: This is an online exhibition that puts in context through narratives the newspapers and magazines digitized on the repository https://repository.mainlib.upd.edu.ph created with the TEAMS-VLIRUOS project "Strengthening Digital Research at the UP system: digitization of rare periodicals and training in Digital Humanities". The exhibition is divided into 5 itineraries: Literature and the Newspapers, A century of wars and revolutions, Women and Journalism, Minorities in the Philippines, and Reports on Japan in the Renacimiento Filipino. It holds over 100 items described and contextualised.

Abstract: In this blogpost, Nathalie Franckaerts reflects on the place of gender, and more specifically masculinity, in the scholarship on the late medieval period and the historiography of medieval travel and travel narratives.
