    L’articolo esplora l’impatto dell’intelligenza artificiale (IA) e in particolare della traduzione automatica neurale (NMT) nel settore della traduzione. L’IA può semplificare e aumentare la produttività e la qualità del lavoro, ma anche rendere marginale il lavoro umano e genera quindi atteggiamenti contrastanti riguardo all’adozione di queste tecnologie. Quel che è certo è che sono in atto profonde trasformazioni dei modi di lavorare, dei ruoli professionali di chi opera nel campo delle lingue e della concezione stessa di traduzione. I fornitori di servizi di servizi linguistici che hanno probabilità di prosperare sono quelli in grado di trasformarsi in specialisti che governano i processi di lavoro, sanno usare e orientare le macchine e sanno che l’IA ha bisogno delle lingue e dei dati linguistici per evolvere. Ma anche in attori della comunicazione interlinguistica consapevoli in possesso di sensibilità linguistica, consapevolezza interculturale e creatività. I traduttori diventano post-editor, transcreatori, gestori di dati linguistici, consulenti per la comunicazione multilingue per diversi media o istruttori di traduttori non professionali. Il post-editing è diventata un’attività convergente con la traduzione umana e sempre più traduttori e studenti utilizzano la traduzione automatica (MT) spesso integrata in strumenti di traduzione assistita dal computer (CAT). Ai professionisti della traduzione pertanto è richiesto capire l’evoluzione, le caratteristiche e i tipi di sistemi MT, il loro potenziale e le limitazioni e conoscere e misurarsi con i vari ambiti di attività che stanno emergendo. Si pone quindi la domanda se l’offerta formativa di università e scuole nel campo della traduzione e delle lingue siano ancora adeguati o come questi debbano affrontare la sfida di aggiornare i propri programmi e curricula di studio per rispondere alle esigenze del mercato. mediAzioni, Vol. 39 (2023): L'intelligenza artificiale per la traduzione: verso una nuova progettazione didattica?

    Authors: Maria Margherita Mattioda; Alessandra Molino; Lucia Cinato;

    The present paper functions as an introduction to this special issue of mediAzioni, which brings together selected papers presented at the Translating Europe Workshop entitled “L'intelligenza artificiale per la traduzione verso una nuova progettazione didattica?” (3 December 2021), focusing on the pedagogical implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI), with a particular emphasis on Neural Machine Translation (NMT). The article revolves around three main themes. First, it considers the impact of emerging neural technologies on language services, redefining the traditional role of the translator and creating new responsibilities and tasks. Despite the considerable progress that NMT has made compared to previous models, it still has shortcomings that are almost "invisible" because they often lack clear grammatical or morphosyntactic marking. Such errors require a certain cognitive effort to identify, since they involve problems that are less obvious to the untrained eye, such as textuality or inadequacies at the level of discourse. Secondly, the article looks more closely at professional practices, especially those related to pre-editing, post-editing and proofreading. Particular emphasis is placed on the indispensable role of the human in translation workflows that integrate NMT not only at the level of post-editing and text revision, but also at the level of translation project management. Finally, the paper moves on to the implications of NMT for the training of translators and beyond, discussing key insights from the workshop participants regarding future teaching practices at university level. The article concludes by outlining the structure of this special issue and providing a brief synopsis of the collected papers. mediAzioni, Vol. 39 (2023): L'intelligenza artificiale per la traduzione: verso una nuova progettazione didattica?

    International audience; And to begin with the first. And it is known to all that this name of Woman derives from the Latin word Domina, meaning Lady and Mistress, a name of empire and royal power, which is not only in use among us, but was also used by the ancients. (Ch. 1, Della nobiltà de' Nomi, co' cui è adornato il Donnesco sesso) Summary Together with Moderata Fonte and Arcangela Tarabotti, Venetian scholar Lucrezia Marinelli is part of that group of authors involved in the "querelle des femmes" that countered the misogyny of men's writings through a complex operation of rereading philosophical and religious texts. Her long treatise La nobiltà et eccellenza delle donne co' diffetti et mancamenti de gli huomini had a wide echo in the times in which it was written, to the point of being edited several times. It also constitutes a unicum in the production of Marinelli, who wrote mainly religious works. Studies on her figure and work had a revival during Romanticism, which also rediscovered the work of other ante litteram feminists. This essay performs a focus on one of the lesser-studied aspects of this work: the focus on the political and citizenship capacities possessed by women, which a false biological determinism, but especially the pre-existing patriarchal structure, have always denied.; Et per incominciare dal primo. E cosa nota ad ogn'uno, che questo nome di Donna deriva da Domina voce latina, che significa Signora, et Padrona, nome pur d'Imperio, e di potenza regia, il quale non solamente appresso noi è in uso; ma etiandio fù da gli antichi usato. (Cap. 1, Della nobiltà de' Nomi, co' quali è adornato il Donnesco sesso) Riassunto Insieme a Moderata Fonte e Arcangela Tarabotti, la letterata veneziana Lucrezia Marinelli fa parte di quel gruppo di autrici coinvolte nella "querelle des femmes" che controbatte alla misoginia degli scritti maschili, attraverso una complessa operazione di rilettura di testi filosofici e religiosi. Il suo lungo trattato La nobiltà et eccellenza delle donne co' diffetti et mancamenti de gli huomini ebbe una vasta eco nei tempi nei quali fu scritto, al punto da essere editato più volte. Esso, inoltre, costituisce un unicum nella produzione di Marinelli, che scrisse soprattutto opere di carattere religioso. Gli studi sulla sua figura e sulla sua opera ebbero una rinascita durante il Romanticismo, che riscoprì anche l'opera di altre femministe ante litteram. Il presente saggio effettua un focus su uno degli aspetti meno studiati dell'opera in questione: l'attenzione sulle capacità politiche e di cittadinanza possedute dalle donne, che un falso determinismo biologico, ma soprattutto la struttura patriarcale preesistente, hanno da sempre negato.

    MONEY AND BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY THROUGH THE PRISM OF PRIVATE LAW: FUNCTIONALITIES, POTENTIALITIES AND RISKS ABSTRACT The aim of this paper is to analyze the global phenomenon of cryptocurrencies under two different perspectives. Firstly, it is important to consider the legal qualification of cryptocurrencies. Secondly, to evaluate the capability of cryptocurrencies to favor the flow of wealth, in accordance to the mercantile or utilitarian paradigm. With regard to the first perspective, the study starts by providing a historical-economic and legal analysis of money and pecuniary obligation within the italian legal system. Afterwards, it portrays the notion of cryptocurrency and its underlying technology, also describing the risks connected to their use. Furthermore, the study attempts a comparison between cryptos and the legal categories of money, goods and financial products. And it shows how regulators are approaching the new phenomenon, also by referring to the EU Regulation 2023/1114 (MiCAR) and by giving some insights on some of the most important acts from US regulators. Regarding the second point of view, the discussion takes action from the notion of contractual cause and how it is scrutinized to assess the "deservingness" (meritevolezza) of a contract – in other words, to verify whether a contract deserves to be recognized by the system so that it can produce legal effects. The paper first tries to understand what this judgment consists of and what limitations the cause has. Then, having as reference a doctrinal and jurisprudential line that has used the causal judgment to assess the invalidity of derivative contracts, the paper tries to use the principles therein applied, to verify the validity of those contracts that involve cryptocurrencies and present an investment or financial cause. Eventually, the paper discusses the logic behind the introduction of digital forms of central bank money, which – according to the States – is to fight against the proliferation of alternative payment systems. For the purpose, the paper focuses on the EU project for the introduction of a digital euro, recalling the newest proposal for a regulation on the establishment of the digital euro. MONETA E TECNOLOGIA BLOCKCHAIN NEL PRISMA DEL DIRITTO: FUNZIONALITÀ, POTENZIALITÀ E RISCHI ABSTRACT Questo saggio si propone di analizzare il fenomeno delle criptovalute in una duplice prospettiva: da un canto, verificare la natura giuridica delle criptovalute e, dall'altro, accertare se le criptovalute possano favorire la circolazione della ricchezza, rispettando il paradigma causale mercantile. Dal primo punto di vista, l'analisi prende avvio da una descrizione storico-economica e giuridica della moneta e dell'obbligazione pecuniaria nell'ordinamento italiano. Segue la illustrazione del modo di essere delle criptovalute, della tecnologia sottostante e dei rischi legati al loro utilizzo, per poi mettere le criptovalute a confronto con alcune delle categorie giuridiche maggiormente considerate dalla dottrina – nello specifico: moneta, bene e prodotto finanziario. Si dà conto, altresì, delle prime forme di regolamentazione del fenomeno criptovalutario, toccando anche il Regolamento UE 2023/1114 (MiCAR). Dal secondo punto di vista, invece, l'analisi muove dal concetto di causa negoziale e di come essa venga esaminata per vagliare la meritevolezza di un contratto. Si cerca di comprendere, dunque, in cosa consista il giudizio di meritevolezza e quali siano i limiti della causa mercantile. Prendendo spunto da quella dottrina e giurisprudenza che ha prospettato la necessità del giudizio causale per i contratti derivati, si cerca, nel presente lavoro, di applicare i medesimi principii al giudizio sulla validità dei contratti che hanno ad oggetto operazioni in criptovalute, con particolare riferimento a quelli in cui la causa negoziale assuma, in concreto, una funzione finanziaria o di investimento. Infine, si discute circa l'opportunità della scelta degli Stati di istituire forme digitali di moneta di banca centrale per contrastare la proliferazione di sistemi di pagamento alternativi a quelli tradizionali, presentando, a tal fine, il progetto per l'euro digitale e l'ultimissima proposta di regolamento relativo all'istituzione di un euro digitale.

    Authors: Gaetano Chiurazzi;

    Taking as a pretext the painting, exhibited in 1910 in Paris, that was signed by J.-R. Boronali but in fact painted by the donkey Lolo, this text aims to discuss the possibility that art can be made by non-human beings. The question is renewed today in the case of Artificial Intelligence, which also is supposed to paint and make art without human intervention. This strange coincidence of artistic production involving animals and Artificial Intelligence is then compared to the issue concerning acheiropoietic images, i.e. images that “have not been painted by human hand”, discussed during the Middle Ages. Like these icons, the works of animals and artificial intelligence enjoy an almost divine status, as they are believed not to have been made by any human being. The thesis supported here is that it is still the human being the one who, in any case, produces works of art, however mediated the process leading to the final product may be. Art is the work of the human, i.e. it is “made by human hand”. Trópos, Vol. 15 No. 1 (2023): Art and Artworks in the Digital Age. Philosophical Perspectives, Artistic Practices

    L’articolo esplora l’impatto dell’intelligenza artificiale (IA) e in particolare della traduzione automatica neurale (NMT) nel settore della traduzione. L’IA può semplificare e aumentare la produttività e la qualità del lavoro, ma anche rendere marginale il lavoro umano e genera quindi atteggiamenti contrastanti riguardo all’adozione di queste tecnologie. Quel che è certo è che sono in atto profonde trasformazioni dei modi di lavorare, dei ruoli professionali di chi opera nel campo delle lingue e della concezione stessa di traduzione. I fornitori di servizi di servizi linguistici che hanno probabilità di prosperare sono quelli in grado di trasformarsi in specialisti che governano i processi di lavoro, sanno usare e orientare le macchine e sanno che l’IA ha bisogno delle lingue e dei dati linguistici per evolvere. Ma anche in attori della comunicazione interlinguistica consapevoli in possesso di sensibilità linguistica, consapevolezza interculturale e creatività. I traduttori diventano post-editor, transcreatori, gestori di dati linguistici, consulenti per la comunicazione multilingue per diversi media o istruttori di traduttori non professionali. Il post-editing è diventata un’attività convergente con la traduzione umana e sempre più traduttori e studenti utilizzano la traduzione automatica (MT) spesso integrata in strumenti di traduzione assistita dal computer (CAT). Ai professionisti della traduzione pertanto è richiesto capire l’evoluzione, le caratteristiche e i tipi di sistemi MT, il loro potenziale e le limitazioni e conoscere e misurarsi con i vari ambiti di attività che stanno emergendo. Si pone quindi la domanda se l’offerta formativa di università e scuole nel campo della traduzione e delle lingue siano ancora adeguati o come questi debbano affrontare la sfida di aggiornare i propri programmi e curricula di studio per rispondere alle esigenze del mercato. mediAzioni, Vol. 39 (2023): L'intelligenza artificiale per la traduzione: verso una nuova progettazione didattica?

    Authors: Maria Margherita Mattioda; Alessandra Molino; Lucia Cinato;
