In the past 10 years, military security threats and with them defense policy moved to the top of the policy agenda of most European NATO states. Nevertheless, the majority were reluctant to increase their defense spendings to 2% of their GDP as it was agreed in the alliance. The reluctance is puzzling considering the increasingly assertive and aggressive Russian foreign policy which reached a new climax with the annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the continuing Russian subversive behavior in Ukraine. The puzzle becomes no less striking when the American President Donald Trump on several occasion threatened the European NATO partners for not ‘paying their bills’ and claimed that he would pull the US out of NATO.The project aims at answering why, despite these threats, the European NATO countries did not increase their defense expenditures to meet the 2% target in the years 2014 to 2022.By making a foreign policy analysis inspired by neoclassical realist thinking, the project gives an answer to the question. It uses a case study approach to the analysis built on the assumption that the three case countries, Germany, Denmark and the Czech Republic are representative of the population of European states that did not reach the 2% target. The reason why the European countries did not meet the target was because the leading policy makers believed in the ideology that trading with Russia would lead to a peaceful foreign policy behavior by Russia. It is not to be neglected that the policy makers were also driven by the desire to be re-elected and therefore, they were attentive to the resistance in their populations towards spending more money on military defense.

In this internship report, EU trade policy is reviewed, and the European parliament's view ofthe EU trade policy is analyzed as a reflection of future EU trade policy. This is done with adocument analysis for members of the European parliament from the three biggest groups.Furthermore, the possible implications of the EU’s view of future trade policy for the EU’sability to externalize it policies abroad is examined. It was found that there’s an indication of ashift from a value based trade policy to a more interest based trade policy

This paper explores the possibility of creating a completely serverless peer-to-peer communication network in the shape of an Android chat application. In the paper the work methodologies and the testing approach in the development of such a peer-to-peer network is showcased. The paper explains concepts such as what a peer-to-peer network is, along with concepts used in the code, including the Chord protocol, TCP, UDP, data transformation, encryption, and hashing. It continues on to go over the iterative design process for the application, which ends in a wireframe of the envisioned final product. Hereafter, the paper goes into depth with the code of the application, and what choices we made and why. Here the unit testing and known errors are showcased as well. Furthermore, potential attacks are considered and acknowledged. Thereafter, it is discussed what the strengths and weaknesses of the application are, what can be improved upon, and what was learned during the development of the application. Finally, it has concluded that while it is a heavy assignment building a peer-to-peer network it is a great way to learn about it in depth and that an efficient serverless peer-to-peer chat application is achievable.

This research project looks at cooperation within the Arctic Council and among its memberstates following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022 with the aim of understanding how thisseemingly distant event has shaped regional cooperation in the Arctic. In order to investigatevarying levels of cooperation, we conducted a qualitative content analysis of Arctic Councildocuments as well as national initiatives and statements by the governments of the ArcticCouncil member states. We employ a neorealist and neoliberal line of thinking to explain ourfindings. Our findings suggest that cooperation within the Arctic Council has declined, securitycompetition within the region has increased and cooperation efforts have moved outside of theArctic Council, both on security but also environmental, scientific, and sustainable developmentissues, seemingly separating Russia from the rest of the Arctic members.

This project documents the development of ”Robot Vacuum”, an educational game designed to teach fundamental programming concepts utilizing interactive gameplay. The game is implemented in Java with our custom programming language called ATAKK handling the main user functionality, which is allowing players to code actions to control their own robot using algorithms. Which will navigate it through various tasks like avoiding obstacles and cleaning tiles with the aim of the game being who’s robot can clean the most dirt within the allotted time. This report comprehensively overviews the design of the Robot Vacuum game. It includes a detailed program description, programming environment, and user manual. The report also explains the use of JavaCUP and JFlex for the parser and lexer generation. Additionally, it supplies user manuals and coding documentation, ensuring accessibility and comprehension for both beginners and more experienced programmers.
