This thesis explores the multifaceted dimensions of womEnhood through the lens ofautoethnography. By weaving together diverse personal stories, we aim to underscore theprofound significance of intersectionality in shaping narratives of womenhood. We presentstories endowed with richness, vibrancy, and expression. Nestled between gender andintersectional feminist studies, the argument set forth is that womenhood can be explored butnot necessarily defined, allowing for a space of plurality and nuance.Inspired by scholarships of among others bell hooks, Audre Lorde, Ursula Le Guin, LindaLapina, Lola Olufemi, and Minna Salami, we unfold the shades of womenhood otherwise toooften forgotten. With the creation of a safe, sacred, and caring space that embraces the powerof embodied knowledge, we sought a process that fosters understanding, socialtransformation, connection, and a sense of belonging. We invite you to join and experiencethis sacred and intimate space evoked by our collective autoethnography and communalstorytelling in a thesis itself laid out as a story.

This master's thesis uses an exploratory sequential mixed-methods comparative case study design, with an integration of qualitative document analysis and quantitative data, to analyze credibility of public diplomacy by evaluating congruence between their statements regarding environmental policies and their current progress in green transitions. By doing so, we see how Denmark and Singapore utilize the same themes in their respective narratives to cement their positions as green leaders. When comparing this to quantitative data we see how both Denmark and Singapore show some congruence between their established narratives and their current action. However, looking at a broader picture and challenging their epistemological understanding of the climate issue, some deviations in the intersection between speech and practice come to light challenging the congruence and thereby the countries’ credibility in the international arena as green leaders.

AbstractEsports has expanded rapidly in recent years, gaining a varied global audience and significanteconomic investment. Despite this growth, research has mostly focused on performancemeasures and economic implications, with little emphasis on social sustainability issues. Thisstudy seeks to fill the void by evaluating Astralis' social sustainability activities, focusing onplayer well-being, diversity, and ethical considerations. Using a critical realism framework,the study examines Astralis' approach through three layers: empirical (observable data),actual (underlying mechanisms), and real (causal drivers). This multi-layered analysis revealshow Astralis navigates industry norms and leverages communication channels to drivepositive change. The research design integrates qualitative methodologies, includinginterviews with industry figures and analysis of industry controversies. Additionally, contentanalysis of Astralis' social media engagement on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X, andYouTube offered a quantitative measure of audience reach and interaction. The findingsshow that Astralis prioritises player well-being with comprehensive support systems thatinclude access to physical trainers, dieticians, and mental health professionals. Theorganisation also actively supports gender diversity and inclusion, encouraging women toparticipate in esports. Social media analysis shows that Astralis efficiently engages with itsaudience, promoting a community-oriented approach despite occasional ethical issues. Thecombination of Everett Rogers' Diffusion of Innovations Theory and Institutional Theorycreates a framework for assessing the validity and impact of Astralis' social sustainabilityprojects. These theoretical lenses emphasise the relative benefits of holistic player care andinclusion strategies in promoting organisational legitimacy and industry-wide change.However, problems like preserving transparency and resolving ethical quandaries highlightthe necessity for continued efforts in social sustainability. This study emphasises thesignificance of comprehensive approaches to player care and diversity in esports, calling fora more socially responsible industry. Organisations such as Astralis can help the esportsecosystem's social viability by addressing ethical duties and harnessing social media forcommunity participation. Future studies should focus on these elements to increaseknowledge and practice in this rapidly growing sector.

What are the discursive ideas around emerging artificial intelligence in international relations, and what could these mean for the future? Through a combination of quantitative topic modeling and manual qualitative discourse analysis, the project analyzes 55 articles from the epistemically influential Foreign Affairs Magazine. The project identifies five distinct discursive ideas around emerging AI and IR. By applying the English School theory, the project assesses the normativity of the discursive ideas, which, following the project’s constructivist philosophy of science, could shape the future of international society. The project argues that most of the discursive ideas point towards a bifurcation or dissolution of the current nascent global governance efforts around AI. Furthermore, the project finds that the ideals of order and zero-sum power dominate the ideals around global justice.

This project aims to contrast the narratives and institutionalised understandings of solidarity as portrayed by the United Nations through phenomenological exploration of queer people's experiences with, and understandings of solidarity. It means to challenge the institutions’ conceptualisation of solidarity through uncovering the complex variations of this concept. Through that, it aims to explore the role that a phenomenological study can have in challenging institutionalised narratives and understandings. This research contributes to the discourse on solidarity by highlighting the importance of inclusive and diverse perspectives. It calls for a critical reassessment of institutional narratives to ensure they reflect the lived realities of all communities.

Background: Continued global warming threatens the existence of Small Island Developing States (SIDS). The Green Climate Fund (GCF) was established to help vulnerable countries adapt to climate change through easier access to funding and country ownership of financing decisions. However, research reveals that climate adaptation efforts often are inadequate and fail to meet the unique adaptation needs of SIDS.Aim: This study aims to challenge current climate adaptation practices in SIDS, by proposing an Actor-Oriented approach to evaluating the effectiveness of climate adaptation projects. The concept of agency is central to this approach, highlighting the importance of local stakeholders' active participation, perspectives, and decision-making power in the design and implementation of climate adaptation projects.Methods: A case study of the GCF FP007 project in the Maldives. Based on reports from the UNDP, GCF, and the Maldivian Ministry of Environment, it assessed the extent to which the FP007 project can be considered effective.Findings: Our evaluation of the FP007 project reveals significant limitations in its effectiveness from an Actor-Oriented perspective. The project did not adequately address local stakeholder priorities, relied heavily on foreign consultants, and maintained a top-down approach, limiting local agency. Additionally, the project’s organizational structure and normative evaluation methods perpetuated external superiority and failed to fully incorporate and value local perspectives.

Poor communities in the Global South are reportedly the most vulnerable to consequences of climate change, such as natural disasters, droughts and floods, and loss of biodiversity. Vietnam is reported to be amongst the most vulnerable areas to climate change impacts. Thus, it is paramount to look into the government’s strategies for sustainable development. This project instrumentalizes post-development theory to critically analyze Vietnam’s discourse on sustainable development in order to gain a better understanding of the country’s development dynamics, as well as to investigate the assumptions and power relations underpinning discourse. Fattige samfund i det globale syd er angiveligt de mest sårbare over for konsekvenserne af klimaændringer, såsom naturkatastrofer, tørke og oversvømmelser og tab af biodiversitet. Vietnam er rapporteret at være blandt de mest sårbare områder over for klimaforandringer. Derfor er det altafgørende at se nærmere på regeringens strategier for bæredygtig udvikling. Dette projekt instrumentaliserer post-udviklingsteori til kritisk at analysere Vietnams diskurs om bæredygtig udvikling med henblik på at opnå en bedre forståelse af landets udviklingsdynamik, samt at undersøge de antagelser og magtforhold, der ligger til grund for diskursen.

The complexity of Value Chains (VCs) is one of the most important factors that leads to HumanRights (HR) violations, and women’s particular challenges are often overlooked bypolicy-makers addressing these violations. In this paper, we are conducting a case study onwomen in the agricultural sector of Argentina and the state of their “Capabilities”, and thepotential of EU trade policies to impact these Capabilities. For this purpose, we are investigatingthe potential of a Gender Mainstreaming (GM) approach in the EU’s proposal for a CorporateSustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), which seeks to hold companies accountable fortheir adverse HR and environmental impacts. The research is using qualitative data, analysinginterviews with experts related to the agricultural sector of Argentina, and the CSDDD draft. Ourresults lead to the conclusion that the CSDDD proposal lacks a GM approach as it does notconsider the state of women’s Capabilities a Public Policy Problem. Moreover, the approach ofthe EU on GM is not enough to effectively address women’s challenges. Lastly, the EU and thecompanies affected by this directive should adopt a transformative approach to GM, and use aCapability approach in order to achieve their goal of mitigating Human Rights violations alongcompanies' VC.

In my third semester as a master’s student in Global Studies + Communication Studies at Roskilde University, I did a professional internship at the United Nations Population Fund (herby UNFPA) at the UN City in Copenhagen, Denmark. For six months, I worked in the Partnership and Communications department of the Supply Chain Management Unit (herby UNFPA SCMU) as a digital communication intern.My ambition has always been to be part of an organization that fights for human rights, gender equality, and better sexual and reproductive health care for all. Therefore, this internship was the perfect opportunity for me to not only explore this passion of mine but also to finally put in place all the knowledge that I’ve learned during the past few years at the University.Keywords: United Nations, Communication, Social Media, Human Rights
