The Editorial Board of the INSAM Journal of Contemporary Music, Art and Technology decided that both issues of 2022 will be dedicated to one main theme, namely, “Fighting for the attention: Music and art on social media”. We can say that this call for papers went very successfully, as we are now presenting to you INSAM Journal No. 9. In a year which has seen many grave turbulences on socio-economic and political levels on a global scale, we have once again confirmed the importance of social media for communication and the spreading of news, and we have also seen the limitations of these tools. Turning to music and art on social media, our Main Theme section consists of five intriguing papers, Beyond the Main Theme section has two articles, (Inter)Views bring three exciting pieces, and the Reviews one festival report.

The couple of issues of the INSAM Journal of Contemporary Music, Art and Technology planned for this year – of which the issue before us, No. 8, is the first one – are dedicated to the theme titled “Fighting for the attention: Music and art on social media”. This theme also leans on the previous ones that dealt with music and art in times of crisis or the relationship between music and art with mental health in contemporary society. This time, we are shedding the light on artists, creators, procedures, methodologies and outputs that are in direct correlation with the ways in which diverse social media platforms today function and grab our attention. The Main Theme section brings us seven exciting papers

In memoriam: Др Александар Крел (1968–2021)

The program of the international conference "Minority languages and multilingualism in Serbia and Central and Eastern Europe" with summaries of the conference presentations of the participants. The conference was organized by the Institute for Balkan Studies SASA and the University of Oslo, and supported by the Research Council of Norway. The conference program and summaries are in Serbian and Hungarian. Програм међународног скупа „Мањински језици и вишејезичност у Србији и централној и источној Европи" / "Kisebbségi nyelvek és többnyelvűség Szerbiában és Kelet-Közép-Európában" са сажецима излагања учесника скупа. Скуп су организовали Балканолошки институт САНУ и Универзитет у Ослу, а уз подршку Норвешког истраживачког савета. Програм и сажеци скупа су на српском и мађарском језику.

In this year’s edition of the journal Musicology, special attention will be paid to sound sources in musicology and ethnomusicology and, through the main theme of issue 32, the consideration of the products of the record industry as scientific sources is affirmed. The six studies in this section cover a wide range of topics, from the first commercial 78 rpm records to contemporary editions of incidental music and the latest releases of folk music, including the legal regulation of copyright and the interaction of the early record industry and radio as a new medium. The examples are related to the different national productions and contexts of Bulgaria, Croatia, Lithuania and Serbia. The Varia section presents five original, thematically and methodologically diverse studies of musicological, ethnomusicological, anthropological and interdisciplinary profiles. Part of the research published in the Main theme section presents the results of the project Applied Musicology and Ethnomusicology in Serbia: Making a Difference in Contemporary Society (APPMES) of the Institute of Musicology SASA.
