In this paper we examined, whether local infrastucture and policy influence the life satisfaction of the urban young. For this, we used the last three waves of the Qualitiy of Life in European Cities survey. Accordign to our results, city-level characteristics matter for young people's life satisfaction. Higher GDP per capita tends to translate into higher life satisfaction. However, high GDP is not important per se, but partly because these cities have lower unemployment and partly because they can provide better quality public services, facilities and a more liveable environment for their residents. Higher urban development is associated with less affordable housing, but interestingly, our results show that this does not significantly reduce life satisfaction among young people. In our study, we focused in particular on the Visegrad countries, especially on Hungary. Budapest and Miskolc are the most dissatisfied cities after Athens. Although both cities, especially Miskolc, have indeed rather poor indicators in terms of urban characteristics, satisfaction with life among young people is still much lower than one would expect from these characteristics. In Bratislava, Warsaw and Prague, both city-level indicators and life satisfaction are higher.

“… what was bound, must be solved, what was closed, must be opened!”––The Boundaries of Quarantine in the Pécs Diocese During 18th-century Plague Epidemics The study examines the physical and symbolic acts of protecting, infringing, and redrawing the border based on events of the 1710 and 1713 plague epidemics affecting the Pécs Diocese and the city of Pécs. On the one hand, I look at individual or collective violations of epidemiological regulations (quarantine, closing of borders, detention, and isolation) enforcing new boundaries on free movement and liberty of assembly. On the other hand, I explore such peculiar modes of border defence that were prescribed or regulated by authorities, including those religious rites (processions, collective propitiation, erecting a statue), with which they re-designated or reinforced the physical and sacral borders of communities.

Nowadays, digitalization has become a part of our everyday life, and are not only the isolated applications, but they are also able to communicate with each other, using data received from elsewhere for their own operation, thus helping in everyday work. Today, the use of digital devices is widespread in almost all industries, including agriculture. Therefore, the aims of our study to analyze the current state of the digitalization of agriculture in Hungary, with special emphasis on the DESIRA project, which aims to promote farmers in the direction of digitalization opportunities.

Ezek az útmutatók kiemelik, hogy mit tanultunk a LIAISON projekt megvalósításából és az adatgyűjtésből. A cél az, hogy segítségére legyen mindazoknak, akik a mezőgazdaság, az erdőgazdálkodás és a vidékfejlesztés területén végzett interaktív innovációk javítására használják. LIAISON (Better Rural Innovation: Linking Actors, Instruments and Policies through Networks) egy többszereplős projekt, amelyet EIP Agri kezdeményezés keretéből finanszíroztak, melyet az Európai Bizottság 2012-ben indított azzal a céllal, hogy előmozdítása a versenyképes és fenntartható mezőgazdaságot és erdőgazdálkodást, amely “kevesebből többet és jobbat tud elérni”. Az útmutatók átfogó képet adnak az interaktív innovációs megközelítés értelmezéséről, amikor közösségi és egyéb innovációs szereplők - azaz gazdálkodók, tanácsadók, kutatók, vállalkozások, nem kormányzati szervezetek stb. – egymás kiegészítő ismereteit és tapasztalatait felhasználva felmérik, összegyűjtik, közösen létrehozzák és terjesztik a gazdálkodók és erdészek valós szükségleteire választ adó gyakorlati megoldásokat. Az interaktív megközelítés alapján született innovációk olyan megoldásokkal szolgálnak, amelyek jól illeszthetők az adott körülményekbe és ezáltal a megvalósításuk is könnyebb lesz.
