Documentation of code used for MS: "Effects of gender inequality and wealth inequality on within-sex mating competition under hypergyny", published in Evolution and Human Behavior. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.evolhumbehav.2022.08.006 1. Overview The code provided is Matlab code. The function 'iteratedmatching.m' contains the main code for the simulation. When contained in the same folder (along with its sub-functions 'pickcandidates.m' and 'vectperm.m'), this code can be called from the scripts Figure_1.m, Figure_2.m etc. to produce the figures. 2. Aineisto koostuu vapaaehtoista lapsettomuutta ja sterilisaatiota käsittelevistä kirjoituksista. Kirjoituspyyntöön saivat vastata kaikki itsensä kohderyhmään kuuluvaksi määrittelevät henkilöt. Aineisto on kerätty alun perin pro gradu -tutkielmaan vuonna 2017. The dataset consists of self-administered written texts on voluntary childlessness and sterilisation. The writing invitation was open to all voluntarily childless individuals who have considered sterilisation or have been sterilised. The data were collected for a Master's thesis. In the writing guidelines, participants were asked to write about how they had arrived at the decision to remain childless, and to describe what they thought about sterilisation. The study aimed to collect data on the reasons that had led the participants to seek sterilisation, and how the sterilisation procedure had impacted the lives of voluntarily childless individuals who had been sterilised. The views of those participants who would like to be sterilised but did not meet the conditions set in the Sterilisation Act were also examined. Background information included the participant's gender and age group. The data were organized into an easy to use HTML version at FSD. The dataset is only available in Finnish.

This data includes all sport facilities in Lipas database on 29.4.2022 and basic attribute information about the places. The data is classified and each sport facility has its own Lipas ID. The data is provided as Esri Shapefiles (points, routes and areas) in Finnish, Swedish and English.

This dataset includes four files of DNA sequence baits targeted to ultra-conserved elements (UCEs) identified from four different taxonomic groups of marine invertebrates: Annelida, Bivalvia, Gastropoda and Crustacea. UCE loci are genomic regions of high conservation that can be found throughout the genomes that can be extracted from the genome and sequenced for use in phylogenetic, phylogeographic and population genetic analyses. The UCE loci were located by aligning a minimum of five species’ genomes to a base genome in each taxonomic group and searching for overlapping highly conserved areas. The UCE baits were designed with screening coverage of 4X using the pipeline phyluce v. 1.6.6 (https://github.com/faircloth-lab/phyluce; Faircloth 2015). The analysis generated 3316 baits for 590 conserved loci in annelids, 4110 baits for 519 loci in bivalves, 25547 baits for 4367 loci in gastropods and 27545 baits for 3755 conserved loci in crustaceans. A final set of 3000 baits per taxonomic group (12000 baits in total) was created by Arbor Biosciences (Ann Arbor, MI, USA, arborbiosci.com) using their myBaits probe design support. For more detailed documentation, see the downloadable dataset description file.

This study consists of five international articles and an introductory background review. Its focus is on the nature and structure of teachers' pedagogical knowing. Pedagogical knowing is characterized as an active process by which teachers perform their duties in situations involving intense social interactions. This study treats teachers' pedagogical knowing as a broad theoretical concept and as an extended practice. Patterns of teachers' narratives are analysed as reflecting the general nature of this type of knowing. The theoretical background consists of three concepts. The idea of phronesis argues that teaching can be understood as an embodied judgement linking knowledge and virtue. The concept of relational knowing draws attention towards that which lies ahead of a teacher in a given situation. The pervasiveness of pedagogical knowing explores that situation more in depth. Together, the concepts extend the theoretical bases of the individual articles. Based on a broad concept of teachers' pedagogical knowing, analyses of qualitative data are presented. Narrative interviews provide data for descriptions of teachers' justifications and their individual epistemologies. In comparative cross-case studies intersubjectivity is brought to the fore. The article studies investigate how teachers' knowing is related to others. An individual case study presents the complex practice of teachers' pedagogical knowing. In concert, three types of narrative analyses are used to explain the nature and structure of teachers pedagogical knowing. Against the background of these analyses, five characteristics of this type of knowing are portrayed. The results show that the concept and practice of teachers' pedagogical knowing contains certain fundamental tensions inherent in teaching. Five stand out: care and respect for students, the compelling power of teachers' personal justifications, the absence of a shared code of practice, the struggles to balance teachers' public and private roles, and the basic uncertainty within the teaching profession. To fully grasp the diverse nature of pedagogical knowing, its general social and cultural context should be taken into account. The general context is particularly significant in the ethical issues manifested in teachers' work.
