    Le lunghezze d’onda comprese tra 200 e 280 nanometri, intervallo spettrale denominato UV-C, sono particolarmente adatte a debellare batteri e virus in quanto tale radiazione spezza i legami proteici e può danneggiare in modo irreversibile le catene del DNA/RNA. Sino a poco tempo fa, le sorgenti UV-C disponibili in commercio erano lampade a gas, basate tipicamente su deuterio, xenon, vapori di mercurio, o eccimeri. Queste lampade funzionano a tensioni piuttosto elevate, sono fragili e hanno tempi di accensione di diversi minuti prima di arrivare a regime ed emettere la potenza nominale. La disponibilità di LED (Light Emitting Diodes, dispositivi a stato solido) che emettono radiazione nell’intervallo dell’UV-C consente oggi di realizzare una “lampada”, basata su una matrice di tali sorgenti, che utilizza un alimentatore a bassa tensione, può essere disegnata in configurazioni geometriche adattabili ad ogni esigenza, si accende istantaneamente ed è meccanicamente molto robusta. In questo Rapporto Tecnico sono illustrati il progetto, la realizzazione e la caratterizzazione di una lampada a LED UV-C e del relativo alimentatore. È inoltre brevemente descritto un esperimento, a scopo fitosanitario, in cui tale lampada è stata utilizzata. Optical radiation with wavelengths between 200 and 280 nanometers, in the UV-C range, is particularly suitable for eradicating bacteria and viruses, as this radiation breaks protein bonds and can irreversibly damage DNA/RNA chains. Until recently, the commercial UV-C sources were gas lamps, typically based on deuterium, xenon, mercury vapor, or excimers. All of these lamps operate at quite high voltages, are fragile and require several minutes of warming up before working at full power. The availability of solid-state LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) that emit radiation in the UV-C range allows a “lamp” to be made by assembling an array of such light sources, which uses a low-voltage power supply, can be designed in geometric configurations adaptable to any need, turns on/off instantly and is robust. This Technical Report illustrates the work done at ENEA Frascati on the design and assembly of a UVC LED lamp and of its power supply, its characterization and application to a phytosanitary experiment.

    Relativamente alla caratterizzazione sperimentazione dei generatori di vapore, uno dei principali problemi di sicurezza del progetto di reattore nucleare refrigerato a metallo liquido è la rottura dei tubi del generatore di vapore. Infatti, tale evento può implicare la propagazione di un’onda di pressione nel vessel principale che può causare, direttamente o indirettamente, il danneggiamento di strutture interne al vessel del primario. In caso di grandi o piccole perdite, il vapore rilasciato dal secondario del reattore, a pressione più elevata, può essere trascinato dal flusso principale verso l’ingresso del core, causando inserzioni di reattività. Un altro aspetto rilevante è il fatto che tale evento potrebbe avere un impatto sul sistema di controllo della chimica del refrigerante primario, compromettendone l’affidabilità ed il buon funzionamento. Lo sviluppo di un sistema capace di identificare in tempo la presenza di una piccola rottura nel tubo del generatore di vapore potrebbe essere utilizzata per prevenire il degradare della piccola perdita in SGTR: quindi diminuire la probabilità di quello che è, ad oggi, considerato l’incidente di riferimento per la sicurezza del reattore LFR. Nell’ambito dell’attività PAR 2018 in sinergia con il progetto europeo MAXSIMA, sono stati effettuati test sperimentali per caratterizzare il rilascio attraverso tipiche cricche che possono verificarsi nei tubi pressurizzati di un generatore di vapore, e correlare il tasso di rilascio a segnali rilevati da microfoni, accelerometri ed emettitori acustici.

    Nell’ambito dell’Accordo di Programma ENEA-MiSE, sono state condotte prove di corrosione in piombo liquido statico di rivestimenti di interesse per i sistemi LFR. I rivestimenti studiati sono Ta, Al2O3 e TiN. Il ricoprimento di Ta è stato prodotto da Tantaline con metodo CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition), il ricoprimento di Al2O3 da IIT (Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia) con tecnica PLD (Pulsed Laser Deposition) e il ricoprimento di TiN da CSM con tecnica arc-PVD. Le prove di corrosione sono state condotte alle temperature di 480 e 550°C per una durata di 1000 ore. Le prove sono state eseguite, inoltre, con alta (10-4 % in peso) e bassa (10-9 – 10-8 % in peso) concentrazione di ossigeno in piombo per valutare l’effetto sull’ossidabilità dei rivestimenti. In questo report sono descritti i risultati ottenuti nelle prove.

    Il documento presenta i risultati delle misure di "bianco" effettuate tramite il contaminametro LB-165 su superfici di riferimento per le misure di attività superficiale da realizzare all'interno della Zona Sorvegliata dell'edificio dell'impianto nucleare di ricerca RB3. Le misure sono state realizzate su superfici analoghe a quelle dei materiali da caratterizzare in Zona Sorvegliata e non collocate in zone calde. I risultati consentono, inoltre, di stabilire i tempi di acquisizione per le misure di valutazione dello stato radiologico dell'edificio RB3, cosi come descritto nel documento BOL-P000-068 del 23/06/2014 e in rev. 1 del 18/11/2014.

    Il presente documento raccoglie i risultati della campagna di monitoraggio della concentrazione di radon realizzata dal Servizio Radon del Laboratorio di dosimetria, protezione da radionuclidi naturali e taratura (IRP-DOS) in tutti i Centri/sedi ENEA in ottemperanza al D. Lgs. 101/2020. Il periodo di monitoraggio è iniziato a giugno 2021 e terminato a settembre 2022; sono stati monitorati 357 locali in 60 Edifici in 12 Centri/sedi ENEA.

    L’Agenzia Nazionale per le Nuove Tecnologie, l’Energia e lo Sviluppo Economico Sostenibile (ENEA) e il Ministero degli Affari Esteri e Cooperazione Internazionale (MAECI) collaborano ai fini degli adempimenti previsti dalla legge 15 dicembre 1998, n. 484, così come modificata dalla L. 24 luglio 2003 n. 197, per la ratifica e l’esecuzione del Trattato per il Bando Totale degli Esperimenti Nucleari (CTBT, Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty), con protocollo e annessi, adottato a New York dall’Assemblea Generale delle Nazioni Unite il 10 settembre 1996. Nell’ambito del Centro Nazionale Dati (NDC), il ruolo dell’ENEA consiste nel fornire supporto tecnico all’Autorità Nazionale (MAECI) nella verifica dell’applicazione del CTBT. In particolare, l’ENEA è responsabile del monitoraggio e analisi dei dati provenienti dal Sistema Internazionale di Monitoraggio (IMS) per il rilevamento di radionuclidi (particolato e gas nobili), che è una delle quattro tecnologie utilizzate per la verifica del Trattato e l’unica in grado di fornire elementi di certezza sul fatto che un test nucleare sia avvenuto o meno. Il MAECI e l’ENEA hanno collaborato su queste tematiche tramite apposite convenzioni, di cui l’attuale è entrata in vigore in data 1° gennaio 2022. Il presente documento rappresenta il terzo rapporto periodico del 2022 e descrive lo stato di avanzamento delle attività previste dalla convenzione nel periodo 01/07/2022 - 30/09/2022.

    Presentiamo le tematiche scientifiche e tecnologiche affrontate durante l’irraggiamento di film poliimmide nano-ibridi con una dose di radiazione ultravioletta (uv) pari a 3.000 ore equivalenti di irraggiamento solare fuori dall’atmosfera terrestre, nell’ambito di un test per selezionare il materiale più adatto all’uso come substrato dei second surface mirrors nei telescopi spaziali. in particolare, discutiamo i dettagli relativi al calcolo della dose uv solare, alla taratura dei rivelatori, alla distribuzione spaziale dell’emissione uv della sorgente, all’effetto di ‘guida d’onda’ della camera da vuoto, alla dissipazione del calore in aria, in vuoto e in atmosfera controllata, al controllo remoto continuo (24 ore al giorno) sia della temperatura dei campioni, sia della radiazione della lampada. In the frame of a Project aiming at selecting substrates for second surface mirrors of space-telescopes, we present the scientific and technological issues addressed during irradiations of nano-hybrid polyimide films deposited on quartz with a ultraviolet (UV) dose of 3,000 space-equivalent Sun hours. In particular, we detail the calculation of the UV dose delivered by Sun, the calibration of the detectors, the spatial distribution of the UV radiation on samples, the remote control 24/24, 7/7 of both samples’ temperature and lamp radiation, the 'equivalent waveguide' effect of the vacuum chamber, the heat dissipation in air, in vacuum and in a helium atmosphere.

    Le lunghezze d’onda comprese tra 200 e 280 nanometri, intervallo spettrale denominato UV-C, sono particolarmente adatte a debellare batteri e virus in quanto tale radiazione spezza i legami proteici e può danneggiare in modo irreversibile le catene del DNA/RNA. Sino a poco tempo fa, le sorgenti UV-C disponibili in commercio erano lampade a gas, basate tipicamente su deuterio, xenon, vapori di mercurio, o eccimeri. Queste lampade funzionano a tensioni piuttosto elevate, sono fragili e hanno tempi di accensione di diversi minuti prima di arrivare a regime ed emettere la potenza nominale. La disponibilità di LED (Light Emitting Diodes, dispositivi a stato solido) che emettono radiazione nell’intervallo dell’UV-C consente oggi di realizzare una “lampada”, basata su una matrice di tali sorgenti, che utilizza un alimentatore a bassa tensione, può essere disegnata in configurazioni geometriche adattabili ad ogni esigenza, si accende istantaneamente ed è meccanicamente molto robusta. In questo Rapporto Tecnico sono illustrati il progetto, la realizzazione e la caratterizzazione di una lampada a LED UV-C e del relativo alimentatore. È inoltre brevemente descritto un esperimento, a scopo fitosanitario, in cui tale lampada è stata utilizzata. Optical radiation with wavelengths between 200 and 280 nanometers, in the UV-C range, is particularly suitable for eradicating bacteria and viruses, as this radiation breaks protein bonds and can irreversibly damage DNA/RNA chains. Until recently, the commercial UV-C sources were gas lamps, typically based on deuterium, xenon, mercury vapor, or excimers. All of these lamps operate at quite high voltages, are fragile and require several minutes of warming up before working at full power. The availability of solid-state LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) that emit radiation in the UV-C range allows a “lamp” to be made by assembling an array of such light sources, which uses a low-voltage power supply, can be designed in geometric configurations adaptable to any need, turns on/off instantly and is robust. This Technical Report illustrates the work done at ENEA Frascati on the design and assembly of a UVC LED lamp and of its power supply, its characterization and application to a phytosanitary experiment.

    Relativamente alla caratterizzazione sperimentazione dei generatori di vapore, uno dei principali problemi di sicurezza del progetto di reattore nucleare refrigerato a metallo liquido è la rottura dei tubi del generatore di vapore. Infatti, tale evento può implicare la propagazione di un’onda di pressione nel vessel principale che può causare, direttamente o indirettamente, il danneggiamento di strutture interne al vessel del primario. In caso di grandi o piccole perdite, il vapore rilasciato dal secondario del reattore, a pressione più elevata, può essere trascinato dal flusso principale verso l’ingresso del core, causando inserzioni di reattività. Un altro aspetto rilevante è il fatto che tale evento potrebbe avere un impatto sul sistema di controllo della chimica del refrigerante primario, compromettendone l’affidabilità ed il buon funzionamento. Lo sviluppo di un sistema capace di identificare in tempo la presenza di una piccola rottura nel tubo del generatore di vapore potrebbe essere utilizzata per prevenire il degradare della piccola perdita in SGTR: quindi diminuire la probabilità di quello che è, ad oggi, considerato l’incidente di riferimento per la sicurezza del reattore LFR. Nell’ambito dell’attività PAR 2018 in sinergia con il progetto europeo MAXSIMA, sono stati effettuati test sperimentali per caratterizzare il rilascio attraverso tipiche cricche che possono verificarsi nei tubi pressurizzati di un generatore di vapore, e correlare il tasso di rilascio a segnali rilevati da microfoni, accelerometri ed emettitori acustici.

    Nell’ambito dell’Accordo di Programma ENEA-MiSE, sono state condotte prove di corrosione in piombo liquido statico di rivestimenti di interesse per i sistemi LFR. I rivestimenti studiati sono Ta, Al2O3 e TiN. Il ricoprimento di Ta è stato prodotto da Tantaline con metodo CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition), il ricoprimento di Al2O3 da IIT (Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia) con tecnica PLD (Pulsed Laser Deposition) e il ricoprimento di TiN da CSM con tecnica arc-PVD. Le prove di corrosione sono state condotte alle temperature di 480 e 550°C per una durata di 1000 ore. Le prove sono state eseguite, inoltre, con alta (10-4 % in peso) e bassa (10-9 – 10-8 % in peso) concentrazione di ossigeno in piombo per valutare l’effetto sull’ossidabilità dei rivestimenti. In questo report sono descritti i risultati ottenuti nelle prove.

    Il documento presenta i risultati delle misure di "bianco" effettuate tramite il contaminametro LB-165 su superfici di riferimento per le misure di attività superficiale da realizzare all'interno della Zona Sorvegliata dell'edificio dell'impianto nucleare di ricerca RB3. Le misure sono state realizzate su superfici analoghe a quelle dei materiali da caratterizzare in Zona Sorvegliata e non collocate in zone calde. I risultati consentono, inoltre, di stabilire i tempi di acquisizione per le misure di valutazione dello stato radiologico dell'edificio RB3, cosi come descritto nel documento BOL-P000-068 del 23/06/2014 e in rev. 1 del 18/11/2014.
