    Relativamente alla caratterizzazione sperimentazione dei generatori di vapore, uno dei principali problemi di sicurezza del progetto di reattore nucleare refrigerato a metallo liquido è la rottura dei tubi del generatore di vapore. Infatti, tale evento può implicare la propagazione di un’onda di pressione nel vessel principale che può causare, direttamente o indirettamente, il danneggiamento di strutture interne al vessel del primario. In caso di grandi o piccole perdite, il vapore rilasciato dal secondario del reattore, a pressione più elevata, può essere trascinato dal flusso principale verso l’ingresso del core, causando inserzioni di reattività. Un altro aspetto rilevante è il fatto che tale evento potrebbe avere un impatto sul sistema di controllo della chimica del refrigerante primario, compromettendone l’affidabilità ed il buon funzionamento. Lo sviluppo di un sistema capace di identificare in tempo la presenza di una piccola rottura nel tubo del generatore di vapore potrebbe essere utilizzata per prevenire il degradare della piccola perdita in SGTR: quindi diminuire la probabilità di quello che è, ad oggi, considerato l’incidente di riferimento per la sicurezza del reattore LFR. Nell’ambito dell’attività PAR 2018 in sinergia con il progetto europeo MAXSIMA, sono stati effettuati test sperimentali per caratterizzare il rilascio attraverso tipiche cricche che possono verificarsi nei tubi pressurizzati di un generatore di vapore, e correlare il tasso di rilascio a segnali rilevati da microfoni, accelerometri ed emettitori acustici.

    La presente attività di ricerca ha avuto l’obiettivo di sviluppare un sistema ibrido innovativo in cui un copolimero a blocchi nanostrutturato è selettivamente caricato con nanoparticelle inorganiche conduttive. I copolimeri a blocchi (BCPs) consistono in macromolecole distinte di due o più omopolimeri, covalentemente legate e che tendono a segregare in microdomini distinti a causa delle loro mutue repulsioni [1, 2]. Questo genera la formazione spontanea di nanostrutture che sono state considerate utili alla creazione di patterns regolari su scala nanometrica e che sono importanti per diverse tecnologie su film sottile [3, 4, 5]. I microdomini dei BCPs nanostrutturati (sfere, cilindri o lamelle) formati spontaneamente per self-assembly [1-5], possono agire da hosts per sequestrare nanofillers di appropriata affinità chimica e geometrica producendo un ordine a lungo raggio nel posizionamento delle nanoparticelle [6]. I BCPs sono, quindi, materiali ideali per agire da “impalcatura” nell’ingegneria di nuovi nanocompositi, dove la distribuzione di particelle guest è guidata dall’ordine della matrice host. Questo genera un assemblaggio gerarchico di nanostrutture ibride organico-inorganico (polimero-metallo) in cui un livello di self-assembly guida il successivo. La chiave per l’ingegneria di questi materiali è l’abilità nel controllare la morfologia finale delle nanostrutture dei BCP e nell’ottenere un’infiltrazione selettiva di nanoparticelle in microdomini specifici delle nanostrutture. Nel presente progetto è stato utilizzato un copolimero a blocchi amorfo, poli(stirene-b-metilmetacrilato) (PS-b-PMMA), con frazione in volume scelta in modo tale da ottenere morfologia di tipo lamellare. Film sottili sono stati preparati mediante spin-coating o drop-casting a Tamb su un substrato trasparente e conduttivo quale ITO (Indium Tin Oxide). La scelta di questo substrato ha consentito di ottenere una orientazione perpendicolare dei microdomini lamellari di PS e PMMA formati per self-assembly. Infine, è stato realizzato un nanocomposito ibrido mediante incorporazione selettiva di nanoparticelle di oro all’interno dei domini di PS utilizzando un processo innovativo basato sull’evaporazione e condensazione di nanoparticelle metalliche [7, 8], le quali diffondono nei domini preferenziali formando nanoparticelle con selettività spaziale sulla superficie del film, in particolare dopo successivi trattamenti di ricottura.

    Nell’ambito della seconda annualità dell’Accordo di Programma MiSE/ENEA Piano Triennale 2015-2017, si prosegue l’attività di validazione del codice RELAP5 cominciata nel PAR2015 in collaborazione con i Laboratori SIET di Piacenza e finalizzata alla verifica della capacità e dei limiti del codice RELAP5 nella simulazione di sistemi per la rimozione del calore di decadimento passivi. La sezione di prova a due tubi a baionetta HERO-2, caratterizzata nel PAR2014 in circuito aperto a circolazione forzata, nel PAR2015 è stata testata in circolazione naturale previa chiusura del circuito sfruttando linee e componenti già utilizzate da SIET e POLIMI. ENEA aveva definito la matrice di prova utilizzando simulazioni pre-test condotte con RELAP5mod3.3, SIET si era occupata dell’allestimento ed esecuzione delle prove. I test termoidraulici che sono stati condotti sul loop hanno consentito la caratterizzazione delle prestazioni di HERO-2 in circolazione naturale, in funzione del grado di riempimento e della potenza fornita alla sezione di prova, in condizioni operative di interesse per reattori SMR. Nel presente documento sono riportati i dati sperimentali prodotti nella campagna e le simulazioni post-test di RELAP5 effettuate sui dati sperimentali a doppio tubo. Il documento viene integrato da un ampliamento dello studio condotto da POLIMI nella precedente annualità relativo al confronto prestazionale di un generatore di vapore a tubi elicoidali con uno a tubi a baionetta. Per la validazione del modello di quest’ultimo si è fatto uso della caratterizzazione effettuata sui dati forniti dalla SIET. Tali scambiatori sono stati inseriti nel design di un SMR integrato (Flexblue© di DCNS) e valutati per la rimozione passiva del calore di decadimento nelle condizioni incidentali di Station-Black-Out.

    L’Agenzia Nazionale per le Nuove Tecnologie, l’Energia e lo Sviluppo Economico Sostenibile (ENEA) e il Ministero degli Affari Esteri e Cooperazione Internazionale (MAECI) collaborano ai fini degli adempimenti previsti dalla legge 15 dicembre 1998, n. 484, così come modificata dalla L. 24 luglio 2003 n. 197, per la ratifica e l’esecuzione del Trattato per il Bando Totale degli Esperimenti Nucleari (CTBT, Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty), con protocollo e annessi, adottato a New York dall’Assemblea Generale delle Nazioni Unite il 10 settembre 1996. Nell’ambito del Centro Nazionale Dati (NDC), il ruolo dell’ENEA consiste nel fornire supporto tecnico all’Autorità Nazionale (MAECI) nella verifica dell’applicazione del CTBT. In particolare, l’ENEA è responsabile del monitoraggio e analisi dei dati provenienti dal Sistema Internazionale di Monitoraggio (IMS) per il rilevamento di radionuclidi (particolato e gas nobili), che è una delle quattro tecnologie utilizzate per la verifica del Trattato e l’unica in grado di fornire elementi di certezza sul fatto che un test nucleare sia avvenuto o meno. Il MAECI e l’ENEA hanno collaborato su queste tematiche tramite apposite convenzioni, di cui l’attuale è entrata in vigore in data 1° gennaio 2022. Il presente documento rappresenta il terzo rapporto periodico del 2022 e descrive lo stato di avanzamento delle attività previste dalla convenzione nel periodo 01/07/2022 - 30/09/2022.

    Relativamente alla caratterizzazione sperimentazione dei generatori di vapore, uno dei principali problemi di sicurezza del progetto di reattore nucleare refrigerato a metallo liquido è la rottura dei tubi del generatore di vapore. Infatti, tale evento può implicare la propagazione di un’onda di pressione nel vessel principale che può causare, direttamente o indirettamente, il danneggiamento di strutture interne al vessel del primario. In caso di grandi o piccole perdite, il vapore rilasciato dal secondario del reattore, a pressione più elevata, può essere trascinato dal flusso principale verso l’ingresso del core, causando inserzioni di reattività. Un altro aspetto rilevante è il fatto che tale evento potrebbe avere un impatto sul sistema di controllo della chimica del refrigerante primario, compromettendone l’affidabilità ed il buon funzionamento. Lo sviluppo di un sistema capace di identificare in tempo la presenza di una piccola rottura nel tubo del generatore di vapore potrebbe essere utilizzata per prevenire il degradare della piccola perdita in SGTR: quindi diminuire la probabilità di quello che è, ad oggi, considerato l’incidente di riferimento per la sicurezza del reattore LFR. Nell’ambito dell’attività PAR 2018 in sinergia con il progetto europeo MAXSIMA, sono stati effettuati test sperimentali per caratterizzare il rilascio attraverso tipiche cricche che possono verificarsi nei tubi pressurizzati di un generatore di vapore, e correlare il tasso di rilascio a segnali rilevati da microfoni, accelerometri ed emettitori acustici.

    La presente attività di ricerca ha avuto l’obiettivo di sviluppare un sistema ibrido innovativo in cui un copolimero a blocchi nanostrutturato è selettivamente caricato con nanoparticelle inorganiche conduttive. I copolimeri a blocchi (BCPs) consistono in macromolecole distinte di due o più omopolimeri, covalentemente legate e che tendono a segregare in microdomini distinti a causa delle loro mutue repulsioni [1, 2]. Questo genera la formazione spontanea di nanostrutture che sono state considerate utili alla creazione di patterns regolari su scala nanometrica e che sono importanti per diverse tecnologie su film sottile [3, 4, 5]. I microdomini dei BCPs nanostrutturati (sfere, cilindri o lamelle) formati spontaneamente per self-assembly [1-5], possono agire da hosts per sequestrare nanofillers di appropriata affinità chimica e geometrica producendo un ordine a lungo raggio nel posizionamento delle nanoparticelle [6]. I BCPs sono, quindi, materiali ideali per agire da “impalcatura” nell’ingegneria di nuovi nanocompositi, dove la distribuzione di particelle guest è guidata dall’ordine della matrice host. Questo genera un assemblaggio gerarchico di nanostrutture ibride organico-inorganico (polimero-metallo) in cui un livello di self-assembly guida il successivo. La chiave per l’ingegneria di questi materiali è l’abilità nel controllare la morfologia finale delle nanostrutture dei BCP e nell’ottenere un’infiltrazione selettiva di nanoparticelle in microdomini specifici delle nanostrutture. Nel presente progetto è stato utilizzato un copolimero a blocchi amorfo, poli(stirene-b-metilmetacrilato) (PS-b-PMMA), con frazione in volume scelta in modo tale da ottenere morfologia di tipo lamellare. Film sottili sono stati preparati mediante spin-coating o drop-casting a Tamb su un substrato trasparente e conduttivo quale ITO (Indium Tin Oxide). La scelta di questo substrato ha consentito di ottenere una orientazione perpendicolare dei microdomini lamellari di PS e PMMA formati per self-assembly. Infine, è stato realizzato un nanocomposito ibrido mediante incorporazione selettiva di nanoparticelle di oro all’interno dei domini di PS utilizzando un processo innovativo basato sull’evaporazione e condensazione di nanoparticelle metalliche [7, 8], le quali diffondono nei domini preferenziali formando nanoparticelle con selettività spaziale sulla superficie del film, in particolare dopo successivi trattamenti di ricottura.

    Nell’ambito della seconda annualità dell’Accordo di Programma MiSE/ENEA Piano Triennale 2015-2017, si prosegue l’attività di validazione del codice RELAP5 cominciata nel PAR2015 in collaborazione con i Laboratori SIET di Piacenza e finalizzata alla verifica della capacità e dei limiti del codice RELAP5 nella simulazione di sistemi per la rimozione del calore di decadimento passivi. La sezione di prova a due tubi a baionetta HERO-2, caratterizzata nel PAR2014 in circuito aperto a circolazione forzata, nel PAR2015 è stata testata in circolazione naturale previa chiusura del circuito sfruttando linee e componenti già utilizzate da SIET e POLIMI. ENEA aveva definito la matrice di prova utilizzando simulazioni pre-test condotte con RELAP5mod3.3, SIET si era occupata dell’allestimento ed esecuzione delle prove. I test termoidraulici che sono stati condotti sul loop hanno consentito la caratterizzazione delle prestazioni di HERO-2 in circolazione naturale, in funzione del grado di riempimento e della potenza fornita alla sezione di prova, in condizioni operative di interesse per reattori SMR. Nel presente documento sono riportati i dati sperimentali prodotti nella campagna e le simulazioni post-test di RELAP5 effettuate sui dati sperimentali a doppio tubo. Il documento viene integrato da un ampliamento dello studio condotto da POLIMI nella precedente annualità relativo al confronto prestazionale di un generatore di vapore a tubi elicoidali con uno a tubi a baionetta. Per la validazione del modello di quest’ultimo si è fatto uso della caratterizzazione effettuata sui dati forniti dalla SIET. Tali scambiatori sono stati inseriti nel design di un SMR integrato (Flexblue© di DCNS) e valutati per la rimozione passiva del calore di decadimento nelle condizioni incidentali di Station-Black-Out.
