    In this project we apply critical psychology and Actor-Network Theory (ANT) to examine students’ motives for choosing to study courses via the educational form called flex at our case institution, how this study form fits into their everyday life, and which opportunities and limitations flex contains. Based on our dual theoretical perspective, we analyse aspects of flex that are pertinent to our areas of interest. Flex courses require students to hand in fourteen assignments and attend four mandatory class sessions on the school every semester. Apart from these requirements, students are free to manage their studies how they see fit. Students generally choose to study flex due to the flexibility in the education and because of obligations in other life contexts. Flex students only engage socially with each other as long as it regards educational matters. Students perceive some inflexibility in the flex structure, as deregistration from a course implies difficulties to retake the course or move on to the next educational level. In terms of the technological elements embedded in flex courses, we identified different types of networks, which we divided into three categories; (1) the professional use, (2) the social use, and (3) the invisible networks.In the final part of our project, we discuss our findings, present our conclusion and offer suggestions for future research.

    Authors: Degnbol, Marie Chimwemwe; Glerup, Cecilie;

    Rapporten centrerer sig omkring problemformuleringen "Hvordan kan teknologisk assisteret befrugtning skabe mulighed for en liberalisering af familienormerne, så lesbiske- og singlefamilier ligestilles med kernefamilien?" Den tager sit normative udgangspunkt i et ønske om, at velfærdsstaten skal ligestille andre familieformer med kernefamilien og aktivt være med til at fremme en ligestilling af alle identiteter blandt medborgerne. En ligestillingstanke, der er inspireret af Chantal Mouffes medborgerskabsforståelse, som udspringer hendes og Ernesto Laclaus teori om Det Radikale Demokrati. Vi ser reproduktionsteknologien som et potentiale ift. at fremme denne ligestilling, idet den udvider de materielle betingelser for familiedannelse ved det, at der ikke længere er nogen praktisk begrundelse for den heteroseksuelle kernefamilies dominerende status. Hvorledes dette potentiale udnyttes kommer til udtryk i debatten om reguleringen af teknologien – nærmere debatten om ophævelse af Loven om kunstig befrugtnings § 3 stk 2, der kun tillader at borgere, der lever i ægteskab eller ægteskabslignende forhold, kan modtage teknologisk assisteret insemination udført af en læge. Gennem en diskursanalyse af Folketingsdebatten af 27.04.05 om ophævelse af parforholdskravet, samt en rapport udgivet af Det Etiske Råd i 2001, ”Etiske problemstillinger i forhold til kunstig befrugtning – ret til at få børn = ret til hjælp til at få børn” (Det Etiske Råd 2001) gives et bud på, hvorfor kernefamilien stadig er det ideal, som man regulerer adgangen til teknologisk assisteret befrugtning efter. Diskursanalysen viser, at til trods for at der er politisk modstand mod § 3 stk 2 i loven om kunstig befrugtning, strukturerer alle diskurser sig om en metadiskurs, der priviligerer den biologiske befrugtning frem for den teknologisk assisterede: Den biologiske befrugtning betragtes som mere ”naturlig” end den teknologisk assisterede befrugtning. Dette giver anledning til en større diskussion af, hvorledes man kan komme ud over denne hierarkisering, som understøtter undertrykkelsen af lesbiske- og singlefamilier. Chantal Mouffe (som repræsentant for den poststrukturalistiske kønsforståelse) mener, at en antiessentialistisk, ren diskursiv tilgang er forudsætningen for at gøre op med de biologiske kroppes sociale determination. Heroverfor mener Science and Technology-teoretikerne Bruno Latour og Donna Haraway, at denne antiessentialistiske tilgang ikke formår at udfordre hegemoniet om den biologiske reproduktions priviligerede status i radikal grad, netop fordi materialitetens agens – kroppenes agens – benægtes og derved objektiveres. I stedet må man forstå familienormerne som konstitueret ved materielt-diskursive magtforhold, og betragte materialiteten som foranderlig (og dermed som ikke-essentiel) for at kunne begribe og politisere materialitetens agens. Disse tilgange diskuteres i forhold til den Radikalt Demokratiske ligestillingstanke.

    Authors: Rasmussen, Winnie; Nielsen, Camilla Bach; Poulsen, Mikkel Leck;

    There is an increasing problem nationaly in Denmark related to the term stress. To a progressively increasing extent danes are experiencing stress. This project explores the understanding of stress in the use of the health intervention ‘Åben og Rolig’ from a leader perspective and which problems we identify in a municipal stress related health intervention. Data was gathered through the use of qualitative expert interviews with leaders in two municipalities reffered to as municipality A and B. Additionally we conducted a qualitative interview with a worker at Fonden Mental Sundhed which developed ‘Åben og Rolig’. Municipality A uses ‘Åben og Rolig’ independently as a method and course. Municipality B had a two year partnership with ‘Åben og Rolig’ but chose to explore other options. Through the use of Michel Foucaults theory of power and his concepts biopower and technologies of the self, a critical analysis of the methods and the understanding of stress in a municipal stress related health intervention was conducted. The analysis is constructed thorugh theorethical bound codes that divide it into three main sections – “knowledge, discourse and stress understanding”, “regulation and disciplination” and “conduct to conduct oneself” Furthermore a discussion of the problems that could be identified in a municipal stress related health intervention was constructed wherein the paradoxes and problems identified are displayed and discussed The conclussion of this project identifies several problems and paradoxes in a municipal stress related health intervention and on this basis formulates the question “Are the citizens own health the primary focus of the intervention or is the purpose of the municipal stress related health intervention to create productive municipal workers?”. The purpose of this study is not to attempt problemsolving but to be looked at as a research project that hopefully contributes to the understanding of stress related health interventions in Denmark and which problems the municipalities face.

    Authors: Yüksel, Selin Arife; Gulløv, Katrine Gry;

    Colitis ulcerosa er en kronisk inflammatorisk tarmsygdom der forårsager inflammation på slimhin- dens overflade. Den kendetegnes ved vedvarende diarré, mavesmerter og blødning fra kolon. Pato- genesen af colitis er stadig ikke fuldstændig klarlagt dog er bakterier linket med inflammationen. Der er specielt fundet forhøjet mængder af E. coli i colitis patienters afføringsprøver. De diarrefrem- kaldende Enteroaggregative Escherichia coli (EAEC) er hyppigt detekteret i diarre patienter. Derfor ønsker vi at undersøge tilstedeværelsen af EAEC i afføringsprøver fra colitis patienter og deraf klar- lægge om der er en association mellem EAEC og aktiv colitis. En multiplex PCR, der er målrettet mod aap, AggR, aaiC og aatA, udføres for at påvise tilstedeværelsen af virulensgenerne for EAEC. Under- søgelsen omfatter 100 patienter, med 185 E. coli stammer. I 9% af patienterne blev der detekteret en eller flere af virulensgenerne. Der bør udføres flere eksperimenter for at bekræfte tilstedeværel- sen af EAEC i UC-patienter med inflammation, herunder forekomst af specifik EAEC fænotypning og serotypning i disse patienter. Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease of the mucosal surface which is iden- tified by persistent diarrhea, abdominal pain and bleeding from colon. The pathogenesis of UC is still not fully understood, and the bacteria-dysbiosis are linked to disease relapses. Especially viru- lent E. coli is elevated in stool samples of UC patients. The diarrheagenic of Enteroaggregative Esch- erichia coli (EAEC) are frequently found in stool of patients with diarrhea, hence our aim is to inves- tigate the presence of EAEC in stool sample of UC patients and clarify if there is an association be- tween EAEC and active UC. A multiplex PCR targeting aap, AggR, aaiC and aatA are performed to detect the virulence genes for EAEC. The study includes 100 patients with 185 E. coli isolates. 9% of the patients had at least one of the above mentioned EAEC virulence genes. Further experiments are needed to confirm the link between EAEC and UC disease activity, including investigating prev- alence of phenotyping and serotyping of EAEC in active UC.

    The prosperous polyphenol resveratrol have shown healthy benefits and anti-cancer properties, but the effect of resveratrol on cell morphology is less studied. The antisuppressant rapamycin, targets mTOR (the mammalian target of rapamycin), which exist in two complexes in mammals (mTORC1 and -2), and have in recent studies controversially showed that both complexes are inhibited by rapamycin. Resveratrol seems to somehow to interact with the mTOR and PI3K-Akt and the treatment of rapamycin plus resveratrol is therefore interesting to study. The PI3K-Akt pathway is known as an important role of cell growth and migration by regulating F-actin (filamentous actin) assembly. The morphological changes to the human epithelial colon cancer cell line, DLD-1, treated with 60 µM resveratrol and 0.5 µM rapamycin was scanned with atomic force microscopy (AFM). The cells were incubated for 48 and 72 hours, fixated and scanned in air, and hereafter size and height were measured. The results show that resveratrol enhance the area about 8 times, when compared to untreated and rapamycin-treated cells. Resveratrol plus rapamycin increase the area but less than the sole resveratrol treatment. Incubation of resveratrol and/or rapamycin decreases the height of the cells.

    The purpose of this project paper is to attempt to identify the reason why the Controlled Substance Act passed by the 91st United States Congress and followingly enforced by the Drug Enforcement Administration is not in accordance with current scientific research done on psychedelic substances. This will be attempted by identifying and analysing the prevalent discourses surrounding psychedelic substances present in three different empirical cases: The D.E.A’s official Drug Fact Sheet, a televised debate between two prominent public figures on the discussion of the effect of LSD from the 1960’s in America and a recent scientific study on the potential to alleviate death anxiety in cancer patients using psychedelic mushrooms. Upon the examination of these discourses, it becomes clear that the Controlled Substances Act, and the discourse contained in it, remain unchanged and unchallenged since its establishment in 1970. Based on the findings of the analysis, several arguments as to why this is the case are discussed and concluding remarks are offered.

    Authors: Degnbol, Marie Chimwemwe; Glerup, Cecilie;

    Rapporten centrerer sig omkring problemformuleringen "Hvordan kan teknologisk assisteret befrugtning skabe mulighed for en liberalisering af familienormerne, så lesbiske- og singlefamilier ligestilles med kernefamilien?" Den tager sit normative udgangspunkt i et ønske om, at velfærdsstaten skal ligestille andre familieformer med kernefamilien og aktivt være med til at fremme en ligestilling af alle identiteter blandt medborgerne. En ligestillingstanke, der er inspireret af Chantal Mouffes medborgerskabsforståelse, som udspringer hendes og Ernesto Laclaus teori om Det Radikale Demokrati. Vi ser reproduktionsteknologien som et potentiale ift. at fremme denne ligestilling, idet den udvider de materielle betingelser for familiedannelse ved det, at der ikke længere er nogen praktisk begrundelse for den heteroseksuelle kernefamilies dominerende status. Hvorledes dette potentiale udnyttes kommer til udtryk i debatten om reguleringen af teknologien – nærmere debatten om ophævelse af Loven om kunstig befrugtnings § 3 stk 2, der kun tillader at borgere, der lever i ægteskab eller ægteskabslignende forhold, kan modtage teknologisk assisteret insemination udført af en læge. Gennem en diskursanalyse af Folketingsdebatten af 27.04.05 om ophævelse af parforholdskravet, samt en rapport udgivet af Det Etiske Råd i 2001, ”Etiske problemstillinger i forhold til kunstig befrugtning – ret til at få børn = ret til hjælp til at få børn” (Det Etiske Råd 2001) gives et bud på, hvorfor kernefamilien stadig er det ideal, som man regulerer adgangen til teknologisk assisteret befrugtning efter. Diskursanalysen viser, at til trods for at der er politisk modstand mod § 3 stk 2 i loven om kunstig befrugtning, strukturerer alle diskurser sig om en metadiskurs, der priviligerer den biologiske befrugtning frem for den teknologisk assisterede: Den biologiske befrugtning betragtes som mere ”naturlig” end den teknologisk assisterede befrugtning. Dette giver anledning til en større diskussion af, hvorledes man kan komme ud over denne hierarkisering, som understøtter undertrykkelsen af lesbiske- og singlefamilier. Chantal Mouffe (som repræsentant for den poststrukturalistiske kønsforståelse) mener, at en antiessentialistisk, ren diskursiv tilgang er forudsætningen for at gøre op med de biologiske kroppes sociale determination. Heroverfor mener Science and Technology-teoretikerne Bruno Latour og Donna Haraway, at denne antiessentialistiske tilgang ikke formår at udfordre hegemoniet om den biologiske reproduktions priviligerede status i radikal grad, netop fordi materialitetens agens – kroppenes agens – benægtes og derved objektiveres. I stedet må man forstå familienormerne som konstitueret ved materielt-diskursive magtforhold, og betragte materialiteten som foranderlig (og dermed som ikke-essentiel) for at kunne begribe og politisere materialitetens agens. Disse tilgange diskuteres i forhold til den Radikalt Demokratiske ligestillingstanke.

    Authors: Rasmussen, Winnie; Nielsen, Camilla Bach; Poulsen, Mikkel Leck;
