The presentation summarizes the aims, the methodology, and the outcomes and conclusions of the environmental analysis for pilots, carried out in the framework of investigations into sustainability for the Smart Ground project. SMART GROUND aims at improving the availability and accessibility of data and information on SRM (Secondary Raw Materials) in the EU territory, while creating collaborations and synergies among the different stakeholders involved in the SRM value chain. In order to do so, the consortium will carry out a set of activities to integrate all the data from existing sources and new information retrieved with time progress, in a single EU database. Such database will also enable the exchange of contacts and information among the relevant stakeholders (e.g. companies), which are interested in providing or obtaining SRM.

In the digital era where, thanks to the ubiquity of electronic copies, the book is no longer a scarce resource, libraries find themselves in an extremely competitive environment. Several different actors are now in a position to provide low cost access to knowledge. One of these competitors are shadow libraries - piratical text collections which have now amassed electronic copies of millions of copyrighted works and provide access to them usually free of charge to anyone around the globe. While such shadow libraries are far from being universal, they are able to offer certain services better, to more people and under more favorable terms than most public or research libraries. This contribution offers insights into the development and the inner workings of one of the biggest scientific shadow libraries on the internet in order to understand what kind of library people create for themselves if they have the means and if they don’t have to abide by the legal, bureaucratic and economic constraints that libraries usually face. I argue that one of the many possible futures of the library is hidden in the shadows, and those who think of the future of libraries can learn a lot from book pirates of the 21st century about how users and readers expect texts in electronic form to be stored, organized and circulated.

Kihívást jelenthet egy olyan kisebb, önellátó családi ökogazdaság működtetése, amely intenzíven kezelt mezőgazdasági területekkel van körülvéve. Ez az esettanulmány a példa arra, hogy sövények és széltörő védősávok telepítése és fenntartása a birtok körül munkaigényes feladat, de megfelelő tervezéssel és irányítással nem csak véd, hanem hasznot is hoz. - It is a challenge to run a smaller, self-sufficient family organic farm surrounded by intensively farmed agricultural lands. This case study is an example of the fact that installing and maintaining hedges and windbreaks around the property is labor-intensive, but provides protection as well as profit through proper planning and management.

A legelőn tartott állatállomány fenntartásának egyik nehézsége az, hogy megfelelő megoldást találjunk az állatok egész évben történő takarmányozására. Fás területek legeltetése rendkívül fontos az állatjólét és a takarmányellátás szempontjából. Az állattartás fás területen több munkát igényel, ugyanakkor az egészséges és jó minőségű állatállomány magasabb profitot is termel. - One of the difficulties to sustainable maintain livestock based on grasslands is to provide appropriate solution for feeding the animals throughout the year. Grazing of woody perennial areas is of paramount importance for the purposes of animal welfare and forage. Farmers on forested or wooded land need to workmore per unit of land, but raising healthy and high quality livestock implies higher profits as well. The landfill mining topic was presented through the SMARTGROUND project.
