    Authors: Pismak, Anna;

    The bachelor thesis "Ruthenian language and its dialects" consists of three chapters, which contain key information on the history of Carpathian Ruthenia, the population of the region and the development of the Ruthenian language. Special attention is paid to the classification of Carpathian dialects, their comparison and presentation of differences. An integral part of the work is an attachment with pictures of textbooks and magazines in the Ruthenian language and maps of regions where the Ruthenian language is used. This work can serve as a source for the study of Carpathian Ruthenia and the Ruthenian language. Bakalářská práce "Rusínský jazyk a jeho dialekty" se skládá ze tří kapitol, které obsahují klíčové informace o historii Podkarpatské Rusi, o obyvatelstvu daného regionu a o vývoji rusínského jazyka. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována klasifikaci karpatských dialektů, jejich vzájemnému srovnání a představení shod a rozdílů. Nedílnou součástí práce je příloha s obrázky učebnic a časopisů v rusínském jazyce a mapami regionů, kde se používá rusínský jazyk. Tato práce může sloužit jako zdroj pro studium Podkarpatské Rusi a vzniku rusínského jazyka. Obhájeno

    Tools and scripts used to create the cross-lingual parsing models submitted to VarDial 2017 shared task (https://bitbucket.org/hy-crossNLP/vardial2017), as described in the linked paper. The trained UDPipe models themselves are published in a separate submission (https://lindat.mff.cuni.cz/repository/xmlui/handle/11234/1-1971). For each source (SS, e.g. sl) and target (TT, e.g. hr) language, you need to add the following into this directory: - treebanks (Universal Dependencies v1.4): SS-ud-train.conllu TT-ud-predPoS-dev.conllu - parallel data (OpenSubtitles from Opus): OpenSubtitles2016.SS-TT.SS OpenSubtitles2016.SS-TT.TT !!! If they are originally called ...TT-SS... instead of ...SS-TT..., you need to symlink them (or move, or copy) !!! - target tagging model TT.tagger.udpipe All of these can be obtained from https://bitbucket.org/hy-crossNLP/vardial2017 You also need to have: - Bash - Perl 5 - Python 3 - word2vec (https://code.google.com/archive/p/word2vec/); we used rev 41 from 15th Sep 2014 - udpipe (https://github.com/ufal/udpipe); we used commit 3e65d69 from 3rd Jan 2017 - Treex (https://github.com/ufal/treex); we used commit d27ee8a from 21st Dec 2016 The most basic setup is the sl-hr one (train_sl-hr.sh): - normalization of deprels - 1:1 word-alignment of parallel data with Monolingual Greedy Aligner - simple word-by-word translation of source treebank - pre-training of target word embeddings - simplification of morpho feats (use only Case) - and finally, training and evaluating the parser Both da+sv-no (train_ds-no.sh) and cs-sk (train_cs-sk.sh) add some cross-tagging, which seems to be useful only in specific cases (see paper for details). Moreover, cs-sk also adds more morpho features, selecting those that seem to be very often shared in parallel data. The whole pipeline takes tens of hours to run, and uses several GB of RAM, so make sure to use a powerful computer.

    Subject of my bachelor's thesis is medieval and renaissance music in czech lands of 21th century. For it's demarcation and characteristic was necessary short description about evolution of old music in the world and factors affecting medieval and renaissance music here. First chapters shows evolution of world music. They point to specifications of evolution this music culture and diverse range of music essentials, what was evolved in all these centuries. Rest of thesis is focused to interpretation music in medieval and renaissance in czech lands of 21th century. It points to uneasy task of musicians of this music to attract todays audience. Preserved sources are edited to attract todays difficult listener. Music of medieval and renaissance is for most of population hearing nonabsorbable. Result of my thesis is zoom of uneasy task of interpretation of medieval and renaissance music today and points to long-time evolution of music culture here and in world. Tématem mé bakalářské práce je hudba středověku a renesance v Čechách 21.století. Pro její vymezení a charakteristiku bylo zapotřebí popsat stručný historický vývoj staré hudby ve světě a faktory ovlivňující vývoj hudby středověku a renesance u nás. První kapitoly seznamují čtenáře s vývojem hudby ve světě. Poukazují na specifika vývoje této hudební kultury. Pestrou škálu hudebních složek, které se za ta století vyvinula. Zbytek práce je zaměřen na interpretaci hudby středověku a renesance v Čechách 21. století. Poukazuje na nelehký úkol muzikantů této hudby zaujmout dnešní publikum. Dochované prameny jsou proto jimi upravovány tak, aby zaujaly dnešního náročného posluchače. Hudba středověku a renesance jako taková je pro populace sluchově nevstřebatelná. Výsledkem mé práce je přiblížení nelehkého úkolu interpretace hudby středověku a renesance dnes a poukázání na dlouholetý vývoj hudební kultury u nás i ve světě. Katedra hudební kultury Neobhájeno

    The SynSemClass synonym verb lexicon version 4.0 investigates, with respect to contextually-based verb synonymy, semantic ‘equivalence’ of Czech, English, and German verb senses and their valency behavior in parallel Czech-English and German-English language resources. SynSemClass 4.0 is a multilingual event-type ontology based on classes of synonymous verb senses, complemented with semantic roles and links to existing semantic lexicons. The version 4.0 is not only enriched by an additional number of classes but in the context of content hierarchy, some classes have been merged. Compared to the older versions of the lexicon, the novelty is the definitions of classes and the definitions of roles. Czech lexicon entries are linked to PDT-Vallex (http://hdl.handle.net/11858/00-097C-0000-0023-4338-F), Vallex (http://hdl.handle.net/11234/1-3524), and CzEngVallex (http://hdl.handle.net/11234/1-1512). The English lexicon entries are linked to EngVallex (http://hdl.handle.net/11858/00-097C-0000-0023-4337-2), CzEngVallex (http://hdl.handle.net/11234/1-1512), FrameNet (https://framenet.icsi.berkeley.edu/fndrupal/), VerbNet (https://uvi.colorado.edu/ and http://verbs.colorado.edu/verbnet/index.html), PropBank (http://propbank.github.io/), Ontonotes (http://clear.colorado.edu/compsem/index.php?page=lexicalresources&sub=ontonotes), and English Wordnet (https://wordnet.princeton.edu/). MSTperl is a Perl reimplementation of the MST parser of Ryan McDonald (http://www.seas.upenn.edu/~strctlrn/MSTParser/MSTParser.html). MST parser (Maximum Spanning Tree parser) is a state-of-the-art natural language dependency parser -- a tool that takes a sentence and returns its dependency tree. In MSTperl, only some functionality was implemented; the limitations include the following: the parser is a non-projective one, curently with no possibility of enforcing the requirement of projectivity of the parse trees; only first-order features are supported, i.e. no second-order or third-order features are possible; the implementation of MIRA is that of a single-best MIRA, with a closed-form update instead of using quadratic programming. On the other hand, the parser supports several advanced features: parallel features, i.e. enriching the parser input with word-aligned sentence in other language; adding large-scale information, i.e. the feature set enriched with features corresponding to pointwise mutual information of word pairs in a large corpus (CzEng); weighted/unweighted parser model interpolation; combination of several instances of the MSTperl parser (through MST algorithm); combination of several existing parses from any parsers (through MST algorithm). The MSTperl parser is tuned for parsing Czech. Trained models are available for Czech, English and German. We can train the parser for other languages on demand, or you can train it yourself -- the guidelines are part of the documentation. The parser, together with detailed documentation, is avalable on CPAN (http://search.cpan.org/~rur/Treex-Parser-MSTperl/).

    Authors: Dulava, Radim;

    By means of this thesis, author tries to introduce unjustly widely unrecognized personality of a great significance factually - Mr. Vincenc Prasek. Born Silesian, Vincenc Prasek was one of foremost Czech revivalists, pedagogue and historian by trade. His life's journey is the main topic of the first chapter, trying to familiarize the readers with Prasek's family background, wich has a huge impact on evolution and general heading of his opinions and personality in general. In next part of the thesis author analyzes Prasek's works from linguistical and philological point of view. He emphasizes especially his contribution to developing standards of Czech grammar system with a stress on syntax. With regard to the fact, that this thesis comes to existence tightly tied with Faculty of Philosophy, the author doesn't want to omit Prasek's benefit to whole nation on the field of pedagogy: he was a true pioneer of modern Czech education system. Final part of thesis is (although on lesser degree) mapping Prasek's work in history and archival science. Autor se ve své práci snaží seznámit širší veřejnost s osobností nemalého významu, avšak méně známou a nedoceněnou. A to s osobou Vincence Praska, slezského rodáka, národního buditele, pedagoga a historika. V první kapitole se autor věnuje životním osudům opavského rodáka, přibližuje čtenáři rodinné zázemí kde Prasek žil a byl vychováván, a které mělo nepochybně vliv na jeho vývoj a životní směr. V další části předkládané práce autor analyzuje Praskovu osobnost z hlediska jeho lingvistické a filologické činnosti. Vyzdvihuje zejména jeho přínos spisovné podobě českého jazyka s důrazem na syntax.Vzhledem k tomu, že práce je psána při fakultě pedagogické, neopomíjí autor přínos Praska, jakožto pedagoga a průkopníka v otázce moderního českého školství, následně autor zmiňuje i Praskovu stránku, jako historika a archiváře, ovšem těmto tématům se věnuje pouze okrajově.     Authors: Pismak, Anna;
