description Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Article 2022 Lithuania PolishAuthors: Ušinskienė, Viktorija;Ušinskienė, Viktorija;Straipsnyje pateikiami lenkų kalbos leksemos zielony ir jos lietuviško atitikmens žalias kontrastyvinės semantinės analizės rezultatai. The paper presents the results of a contrastive semantic analysis of the Polish lexeme zielony ‘green’ and its Lithuanian equivalent žalias. The research based on the methodology of R. Tokarski and K. Waszakowa is aimed at comparing the collocability of Pol. zielony / Lith. žalias with names of various objects and phenomena (both in the literal and figurative senses), including the identification of the prototype references and connotative meanings. The analysis has illustrated that in both languages, ‘green’ is interpreted primarily as the color of grass or other plants, but for some shades of green, the color of certain minerals (such as emerald or malachite) can be considered a prototype pattern. Common prototypical references clearly motivate similar symbolic and cultural values of Polish and Lithuanian terms. Pol. zielony / Lith. žalias have similar ranges of use and develop quite convergent connotative meanings, of which there are slightly more in Lithuanian. In both languages, the prototype association with the green of young plants creates the following connotational meanings: ‘young’, ‘fresh’, ‘unripe’, ‘immature’, ‘inexperienced’, ‘healthy’, ‘ecological’. Both in Polish and in Lithuanian, some shades of green can connote not only positive but also negative characterizations, based on associations with the chthonic world or with disease and death. However, such connotations as ‘raw, uncooked’ and ‘nice, pleasant’ are more typical for the Lithuanian language, since in Polish they are rather sporadic. Only in Lithuanian there is the connotation ‘strong, powerful’. Therefore, it must be recognized that the semantic spectrum of the Lith. žalias is wider than the semantics of its Polish equivalent. Keywords: green color, semantic prototypes and connotations, contrastive analysis

Nuo XVIII a. II pusės iki pat XIX a. pradžios Rusija vykdė apdairią politiką, nes turėjo priešų.

At first, a brief analysis of the factors which impede and make the development of the Lithuanian economy more dynamic is made. Then the measures taken to overcome the crisis which badly affected the Lithuanian economy in 2009, and efforts to meet the convergence criteria of the Maastricht Treaty, are described. The final part of the study focuses on the technical aspects of the introduction of the euro and outlines the expected benefits for Lithuania related to the accession to the eurozone.

To begin with, the study includes all sentences that use the word man. It is also based on the examples where it is replaced by pronouns (I, you, he, she etc.), kinship terms (mother, father, brother, sister, grandson, granddaughter, aunt, uncle etc.), nouns that designate individuals by the gender (boy, girl, woman, woman, man etc.) and other. All the sentences in the dictionary that speak of man are analysed. The lexicographic data show that a person (man, woman, child) is an individual living in the Southern South Aukštaitian area. He/she is a kind-hearted, sincere, open, tolerant, cheerful and witty, hardworking and creative representative of the people and dialect; also energetic and persevering, though not always physically strong and capable. The analysis carried out reveals the genesis of the concept of man, and shows the attitude of several generations to man. The illustrative sentences highlight the stereotypical image of a person living in the Southern South Aukštaitian area (cheerful, generous, and hardworking, believes in God and is superstitious, values the family etc.) and show the new emerging traits (laziness, drinking, stealing, disobeying, immoral and dishonest etc.). The analysis of the dialectical discourse reveals the difference between the archaic and contemporary approaches; the ongoing changes in material and spiritual life are revealed. The material in the dictionary reveals the wonderful harmony of man and nature, which has been formed over several centuries, with the community living in a relatively isolated, closed environment. The worldview of man living in the area of the Southern South Aukštaitian area is interwoven with the old mythological world, the mysteries of the Catholic faith, and the realities of the present. Although the world is changing, old values and customs are disappearing and villages are abandoned, people are optimistic about the world. Work, family, faith in God and man are their greatest values.

The custom of drafting such documents developed throughout this century. Very few original noblemen’s document registers have survived, and our knowledge of them mainly comes from inscriptions in court books and from the Lithuanian Metrica acts. At the very outset of the century, books of document copies (cartularies) were written in the courts of the GDL magnates. Document inventories of the representatives of the minor nobility and gentry started appearing in the second half of the 16th century. The last quarter of the century witnessed the final formation of the inventory characteristics typical of later years. Based on the typology of documents described in the registers, registers are grouped into either general – covering the basic documentation – or partial. However, even in the general registers only the documents most important to the owner were listed. Hence, the registers of the private archives can turn into a “reality trap” reflecting but a part of the archivalia. The article also analyses the purposes of the drafting of registers.

He was deeply emotionally connected with this region since he was a child. Both these texts constitute a valuable source of knowledge concerning the status of regional variant of Polish language and its formal characteristics that were used in the ground-breaking decades of the 19th and 20th century. These characteristics were used by the writer as a means of masterly conducted linguistic stylization. Among the presented by Weyssenhoff’s linguistic facts characteristic for Northern Borderlands there can be found a process called ‘akanie’ what basically means the pattern of pronouncing unstressed vowels /e/ and /o/ as /a/. Which of the peculiar indicators concerning the specific vowel pronunciation is evidenced in the studied texts (phonetic parameter or a phenomenon that has experienced morphological processes)? How do they serve as a means of linguistic stylization? The following article presents a brief description of the peculiar process called ‘akanie’ which was known to Józef Weyssenhoff from Kaunas, Lithuania and which he then deliberately introduced in his two novels as a function of a literary manifestation.

The study by Olga Mastianica entitled "Bajorija lietuvių tautiniame projekte (XIX a. pabaiga – XX a. pradžia)" [Nobility in the Lithuanian National Project (Late 19th – Early 20th Centuries)] analyses the projects of including the nobility into the vision of modern Lithuania that were proposed from the publication of the first Lithuanian newspaper, "Aušra" [Dawn] (1883–1886), until the beginning of the First World War. The other book under discussion is the diary of Mečislovas Davainis-Silvestraitis, edited by Olga Mastianica-Stankevič and Jurgita Venckienė. Davainis-Silvestraitis (1849–1919), who was engaged in the Lithuanian national movement in the second half of the nineteenth century, wanted to display by his own example that it was possible to “re-Lithuanise” the Polish-speaking nobility. He was the editor of the magazine "Litwa" [Lithuania] (1908–1914), which was published in Polish and the main audience of which was the Polish-speaking nobility of Lithuania. Keywords: Lithuanian national movement; nobility; Mečislovas Davainis-Silvestraitis; diary.

description Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Article 2022 Lithuania PolishAuthors: Ušinskienė, Viktorija;Ušinskienė, Viktorija;Straipsnyje pateikiami lenkų kalbos leksemos zielony ir jos lietuviško atitikmens žalias kontrastyvinės semantinės analizės rezultatai.
