The excessive use of MSG has been shown to increase oxidative stress in different regions of the brain. In this study, the neuroprotective effect of L-carnitine was investigated against MSG intoxication in granular cell of cerebellum in rats. Materials and Methods: 48 adult male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 6 groups: the control, sham (normal saline treated), MSG (3%), L-Carnitine200, MSG+L-Carnitine100 and MSG+L-Carnitine200. After 30 days of treatment, through transcardialy perfusion, the rats were sacrificed and histopathological analyses were conducted on cerebellum. Results: The results indicated that the density of granular cells in cerebellar folium IV, V and VI of rats in the MSG group had significantly decreased in comparison to that of the control and sham groups. Furthermore, the MSG+L-Carnitine200 group showed the higher density of granular cells compared with the MSG group in the three folia. Conclusion: Treatment with L-Carnitine could protect the granular cells in cerebellum against MSG intoxication in rats.

The research method is descriptive while using correlation. The hypothesis was tested via multivariate linear regression models as well as panel data method. The time period of research is 2006-2010 and the sample consists of 82 companies which are already admitted to the Tehran Stock Exchange. The results indicate that marginal value of cash is negative in terms of the market. Furthermore, findings show that there is no significant relationship between marginal value of financial flexibility and capital structure decisions of firms under study, which is the firms, would not consider financial flexibility level in their decisions regarding increasing or decreasing debts. Nurses have a highly risky occupation, in which they are required to take safety issues into consideration. This study aimed at investigating the attitude of nurses towards safety climate in the hospitals of Kermanshah City, Iran. Methods: This descriptive-analytical research was conducted with 112 nurses in the hospitals of Kermanshah City. A two-section questionnaire was administered for data collection. The first part was related to the nurses' demographic and occupational characteristics and the second part contained the nurses' safety climate questionnaire. After data collection, the data were analyzed by SPSS-16. Results: Results showed that the mean and standard deviation of the safety climate in nurses was 0.56 ± 3.06. A significant relationship was found between all factors, except for the relationship between cumulative burnout and error reporting. The safety climate was almost equal between men and women. Moreover, safety climate was higher in single people than the married ones. In the morning shift, the highest safety climate was in the workplace. Furthermore, people with a second job felt safety climate more. Conclusion: Research results showed that safety climate was not at a satisfactory level in the studied nursing personnel. Therefore, it is suggested to improve the safety climate and its effects on the safety performance by training safety issues, holding technical courses on safety, and adjusting work-rest time.

The routine use of internal thoracic artery as a conduit in coronary artery bypass grafting surgery requires appreciation of the anatomical variations of these vessels. So far, there is not any report about the variation of subclavian artery and it’s branches in Iran, for this reason this study have been done to see the variations of the subclavian arteries and its branches. Materials and methods: The base of the neck of 40 male cadavers approximately 40-80 years old were dissected bilaterally with appropriate equipments. The specimens were fixed with routine fixative in dissection hall. Findings: In all specimens the left subclavian artery had normal origin but the right subclavian artery in one case originated from the beginning of the arch of aorta and in another one a retroesophageal right subclavian artery was present. We have seen that, the left vertebral artery in 2 cadavers and right vertebral artery in 1 specimen, rose from arch of aorta. This study showed that the variation of thyrocervical and internal thoracic arteries are uncommon. Conclusion: For preserving the integrity of important structures in the base of the neck, especially thyroid gland in surgery, this vascular variations are presented to physicians to keep in mind that such variations exists during diagnostic investigation and surgical procedures of the neck. An awareness of these variations is important, because this area in used for diagnostic and surgical procedures.
