    In this paper we analysed quality and type of questions according to their charachteristics which teachers pointed out as relevant, as well as characteristics of feedback teachers give to their students after answering a question. Theorethical part of paper starts by defining processes of evaluation, monitoring, grading and examination, while determining oral examination of student's knowledge in detail, as well as its positive and negative aspects. It continous by presenting different researches connected to teacher's questions in teaching, establishing purpose and teacher's ability of asking questions and describing the structure and quality of the question. Furthermore, two types of question were determined in detail –opened and closed questions –and questions which search for lower or higher cognitive level of knowledge according to Bloom's taxonomy. Finally, term „teacher's feedback“ has been defined as well as advisory method of giving feedback to students was described. In empirical part of paper, we researched the characteristics of oral examination of student's knowledge, characteristics of questions according to their type and level of answer they require, and characteristics of feedback teachers from one high school pointed out. Research was conducted by semi-structured interview and 9 teachers participated. Data was processed descriptively, without possibility of generalization due to small research sample.The results showed us there are a lot of characteristics for all three researched categories, and by using analysis we found out that teachers, according to the type of questions and level of answer they require, use these questions according to student's cognitive abilities and their general interests. Also, data shows us that high-quality questions are opened questions and those which require higher level of student's answer, but it is important to use them with purpose and in certain teaching situations. Rad se bavi analizom kvalitete i vrste pitanja prema obilježjima koje su nastavnici istaknuli bitnima, kao i karakteristika povratnih informacija koje nastavnici daju učenicima nakon izrečenog odgovora. Teorijski dio rada terminološki određuje usmenu provjeru znanja, definira pitanja u nastavi i prikazuje karakteristike pitanja prema njihovoj vrsti i kvaliteti. Također, određuje povratne informacije te savjetodavnu metodu izricanja povratnih informacija. Empirijskim dijelom rada ispitana su obilježja usmene provjere znanja, pitanja prema vrsti i traženoj razini odgovora te karakteristike povratnih informacija koje ističu nastavnici jedne srednje škole. U istraživanju koje je provedeno polustrukturiranim intervjuom sudjelovalo je 9 nastavnika/ca. Podaci su obrađeni deskriptivnom metodom, a mogućnost generalizacije podataka ne postoji zbog malog uzorka istraživanja. Rezultati koje smo istraživanjem dobili pokazuju kako postoji velik broj obilježja za sve tri navede kategorije, a analizom smo saznali da nastavnici pitanja prema vrsti i traženoj razini odgovora koriste s obzirom na kognitivne mogućnosti učenika i njihove zainteresiranosti. Također, podaci pokazuju kako su otvorena pitanja i ona koja traže višu razinu odgovora učenika kvalitetnija, ali važno ih je iskorititi s određenom svrhom i u određenim nastavnim situacijama.

    Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je ispitati odnos motivacijskih varijabli (ciljeva postignuća, samoefikasnosti, samoefikasnosti u samoregulaciji) i kontekstualnih faktora s aktivnim varanjem na ispitima na tehničkim fakultetima Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. U istraživanju su sudjelovali studenti triju fakulteta tehničkih usmjerenja Sveučilišta u Zagrebu (N=398). Sudionici su ispunjavali Skalu ciljeva postignuća, Skalu samoefikasnosti, Skalu samoefikasnosti u samoregulaciji učenja, Skalu kontekstualnih razloga varanja i Skalu učestalosti varanja. Za potrebe ovog istraživanja kao zavisna varijabla koristilo se samo aktivno varanje jer se faktorskom analizom pokazalo da je mali broj čestica (dvije) zasićen pasivnim varanjem te stoga ono nije razmatrano. U aktivnom varanju studenti pokušavaju saznati potrebne informacije na nedopušten način kako bi osigurali bolji vlastiti uspjeh, najčešće prepisivanjem od drugih. Rezultati su pokazali da je aktivno varanje pozitivno povezano s ciljem izbjegavanja rada, percepcijom varanja drugih i kontekstualnim razlozima varanja. Negativno je povezano s ciljem ovladavanja uključivanjem, samoefikasnošću u samoregulaciji, prosjekom ocjena u prošloj godini i percepcijom kazne. Utvrđeno je da nema razlike u aktivnom varanju kao ni u procjeni kontekstualnih faktora među studentima različitih godina studiranja. Provjera inkrementalne valjanosti kontekstualnih faktora povrh motivacijskih varijabli pokazala je da kontekstualni faktori objašnjavaju dodatnih 30 % varijance varanja, što zajedno s motivacijskim varijablama čini ukupno 43 % objašnjene varijance. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between motivational factors (achievement goals, self-efficacy and self-efficacy for self-regulated learning) and contextual factors with self-reported active cheating at the University of Zagreb. The participants in the study were 398 students of enginerering faculties. They have completed Achievement Goal Orientation Scale, Self-Efficacy Scale, Self-Efficacy for Self-Regulated Learning Scale, Contextual Reasons for Cheating Scale and Cheating Scale. In this research, only active cheating has been used as a dependent variable beacause factor analysis has shown that only two items have been saturated with passive cheating. Active cheating means students are trying to find out the information using forbidden ways such as transcripting from another student during exam. Active cheating was found to be positively correlated with work-avoidance goal, perceived peer cheating and contextual reasons for cheating. It has negatively correlated with mastery approach goal, self-efficacy for self-regulated learning, GPA and perception of punishment. There has been no significant difference in active cheating and contextual reasons for cheating between the students of different college year. Incremental validity examination has shown that contextual factors explain extra 30 % of active cheating variance that goes up to 43 % when it is examined together with motivational variables.

    This paper offers a basic overview of the transhumanist movement, particularly its approach to ageing. The transhumanist philosophy of ageing strives both towards prolonging the human life and removing the ill effects of ageing. Special emphasis will be put on cryopreservation, which is a currently relevant and functional, albeit controversial, method of suspending death. A group of traditional issues regarding cryonic technology, such as its biological feasibility, will be evaluated. Following the detailed theoretical investigation, Don DeLillo’s Zero K will be analyzed based on the philosophical background of the transhumanist movement, the evaluation of the desirability of cryonic technology, and its rendering of ageing and death. Zero K subtly brings to attention the economic background of this complex technical process, which is often a blind spot in discussions regarding the positive and negative aspects of cryonics. Transhumanism espouses the wide availability of human enhancement methods, but Zero K draws attention to wealth as the demarcation line between those who can choose to enjoy the benefits of technology and those who remain excluded regardless of their choice. In this context, Zero K confronts the potential of cryopreservation with reality and draws attention to points of tension within the transhumanist approach to ageing. Ovaj članak nudi osnovni pregled transhumanističkog pokreta s posebnim naglaskom na transhumanistički pristup starenju. Transhumanistička filozofija starenja teži produženju ljudskog života i uklanjanju negativnih posljedica starenja. Krioprezervacija, koja je neovisno o kontroverznosti trenutačno relevantna i funkcionalna metoda zaustavljanja smrti bit će posebno naglašena. Tekst sadrži procjenu skupine tradicionalnih problema s krioničkom tehnologijom, poput njezine biološke izvedivosti. To će detaljno teorijsko promišljanje pratiti analiza DeLillova romana Zero K na temelju filozofske podloge transhumanističkog pokreta, procjene poželjnosti krioničke tehnologije i prikaza starenja i smrti u romanu. Roman suptilno privlači pozornost ekonomskoj pozadini ovog složenog tehničkog procesa, koja je često slijepa pjega u diskusijama o pozitivnim i negativnim aspektima krionike. Transhumanizam se zalaže za široku dostupnost metoda poboljšanja čovjeka, ali Zero K privlači pozornost bogatstvu kao demarkacijskoj liniji između onih koji mogu izabrati da uživaju u dobrobitima tehnologije i onih koji ostaju isključeni neovisno o vlastitom izboru. U tom kontekstu DeLillov roman suočava mogućnost krioprezervacije sa stvarnošću i privlači pozornost točkama tenzije unutar transhumanističkog pristupa starenju.

    This thesis examines and compares two particular episodes in the broader Cuban emigration to the United States in the post-revolutionary period, Operation Peter Pan and the Mariel Boatlift, through the lived experience of the participants, augmented by scholarly works and an in-depth examination of the historical background of the events that precipitated them amidst the broader historical context of the Cold War and Cuban-American relations. These two waves of migration were chosen because they provide a valuable insight into the shifting social structures of Castro’s Cuba and of the Cuban-American community as the differences in the racial and social stratification of the emigrants that arrived through Operation Peter Pan and the Mariel boatlift were reflected in the differing reception they received upon entry to the United States and the manner of their arrival – these changing characteristics of Cuban immigrants to the United States provide a fertile ground for comparison and analysis not only of the changes in the social class of the exiles leaving Cuba and the shifting perceptions of Cuban-Americans as a result of that shift but also help illustrate the developments and changes in Cuban-American relations within the framework of the Cold War.

    Tema je ovog rada proces jezičnog posuđivanja na primjeru leksiko-semantičkog polja „Hrana i piće“ u ruskome jeziku. U teoretskom dijelu određuju se pojmovi posuđivanja, posuđene leksike i posuđenica, objašnjavaju razlozi posuđivanja leksike, navode tipovi posuđenica te opisuje adaptacija posuđenica u sistemu ruskoga jazika. Nakon teoretskog dijela slijedi analiza posuđenica leksičko-semantičkog polja „Hrana i piće“. Prvo se iznose razlozi zašto je upravo ta tematska grupa dobar primjer jezičnog posuđivanja, potom se nazivi namirnica, jela i pića dijele na razne tipove posuđenica s obzirom na njihovo porijeklo i razinu usvojenosti u ruskome jeziku, a nakon toga se na primjerima takve leksike opisuje adaptacija posuđenica. Na kraju rada navode se zaključci doneseni na temelju analiziranog materijala.

    O krizi obrazovanja na Zapadu svjedoče mnogobrojne reforme koje, međutim, postižu upitan učinak na kvalitetu samog obrazovanja. Iako su se neka specifična znanja i vještine postali dio obaveznog školovanja, temeljna očekivanja i svrha obrazovanja nisu se bitno promijenili od druge polovice 20. stoljeća do danas. Obrazovna kriza realno je egzistirajuća te zaokuplja pažnju vladajućih na cijelom svijetu. Ulog u tržišno strukturirano obrazovanje pokazao se najsigurnijim ulogom u budućnost zemljama orijentiranima profitu i gospodarskom rastu. Kulturna, socijalna i politička cijena takvog zaokreta, međutim, nije mala. Postepenim ili cjelovitim reformama škola prelazi u službu lokalnom i globalnom tržištu nauštrb humanističke svrhe obrazovanja. Cilj ovog rada je kritički analizirati obrazovne reforme, školu kao instituciju i ulogu filozofije u nastavi. Many educational reforms bare witness to a crisis occurring in education on the West, yet their effect on the quality of education is questionable. Although some specific skills and knowledge has been implemented as a primary part of education, basic expectations and goals of education didn't change since the second half of the 20th century. Nevertheless, educational crisis is realistically existing and grabs the attention of world leaders. Investing in education proved to be the safest bet in the future for countries oriented on profit and economic growth. Through gradual or complete reforms, school becomes a servant to the local and global market at the expense of the humanistic aspect of education. The goal of this paper is to analyse educational reforms, school as an institution and the role of philosophy in the curriculum.

    Based on the study of literature, conervation reports and studies, this thesis is trying to show the history of the most preserved medieval fort in Istria, the castle of Pazin. The castle, which was one of the most important fortress in the central part of Austrian Istria, traces history marked by numeous conflicts, as well as numerous upgrades and renovations in order to better adapt the building to more modern ways of warfare. Numorus renovations led to the alterations of the original floor plan, and Kaštel itself today is in good condition since it has continuosly served as a residential fortress throughout history. With the resorarion od the castle in the second half of the 20th century, all the damage that built up through the years was repaired and some parts of the castle were restored to extend the life of the building. Na temelju proučavanja literature, konzervatorskih izvješća i elaborata ovaj diplomski rad na jednom mjestu pokašava što bolje prikazati povijest najočuvanije srednjevjekovne utvrde u Istri, kaštela u Pazinu. Kaštel, koji je bio najvažnija utvrda središnjeg dijela austrijske Istre, pratila je povijest obilježena brojnim sukobima u kojima je stradavao, ali i brojnim dogradnjama i obnovama kako bi građevina što bolje prilagodila suvrmeniji načinima ratovanja. Brojne obnove, dovele su do izmjene prvotnog tlocrta, a sam je Kaštel doživio moderno doba u dobrom stanju budući da je kroz cijelu povijest kontinuirano služio kao rezidencijalna utvrda. Restauriranjem Kaštela u drugoj polovici 20. stoljeća sanirana su sva oštećenja i izvedene su restauracije pojedinih dijelova kaštela kako bi se produžio životni vijek građevine.

    In this paper we analysed quality and type of questions according to their charachteristics which teachers pointed out as relevant, as well as characteristics of feedback teachers give to their students after answering a question. Theorethical part of paper starts by defining processes of evaluation, monitoring, grading and examination, while determining oral examination of student's knowledge in detail, as well as its positive and negative aspects. It continous by presenting different researches connected to teacher's questions in teaching, establishing purpose and teacher's ability of asking questions and describing the structure and quality of the question. Furthermore, two types of question were determined in detail –opened and closed questions –and questions which search for lower or higher cognitive level of knowledge according to Bloom's taxonomy. Finally, term „teacher's feedback“ has been defined as well as advisory method of giving feedback to students was described. In empirical part of paper, we researched the characteristics of oral examination of student's knowledge, characteristics of questions according to their type and level of answer they require, and characteristics of feedback teachers from one high school pointed out. Research was conducted by semi-structured interview and 9 teachers participated. Data was processed descriptively, without possibility of generalization due to small research sample.The results showed us there are a lot of characteristics for all three researched categories, and by using analysis we found out that teachers, according to the type of questions and level of answer they require, use these questions according to student's cognitive abilities and their general interests. Also, data shows us that high-quality questions are opened questions and those which require higher level of student's answer, but it is important to use them with purpose and in certain teaching situations. Rad se bavi analizom kvalitete i vrste pitanja prema obilježjima koje su nastavnici istaknuli bitnima, kao i karakteristika povratnih informacija koje nastavnici daju učenicima nakon izrečenog odgovora. Teorijski dio rada terminološki određuje usmenu provjeru znanja, definira pitanja u nastavi i prikazuje karakteristike pitanja prema njihovoj vrsti i kvaliteti. Također, određuje povratne informacije te savjetodavnu metodu izricanja povratnih informacija. Empirijskim dijelom rada ispitana su obilježja usmene provjere znanja, pitanja prema vrsti i traženoj razini odgovora te karakteristike povratnih informacija koje ističu nastavnici jedne srednje škole. U istraživanju koje je provedeno polustrukturiranim intervjuom sudjelovalo je 9 nastavnika/ca. Podaci su obrađeni deskriptivnom metodom, a mogućnost generalizacije podataka ne postoji zbog malog uzorka istraživanja. Rezultati koje smo istraživanjem dobili pokazuju kako postoji velik broj obilježja za sve tri navede kategorije, a analizom smo saznali da nastavnici pitanja prema vrsti i traženoj razini odgovora koriste s obzirom na kognitivne mogućnosti učenika i njihove zainteresiranosti. Također, podaci pokazuju kako su otvorena pitanja i ona koja traže višu razinu odgovora učenika kvalitetnija, ali važno ih je iskorititi s određenom svrhom i u određenim nastavnim situacijama.

    Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je ispitati odnos motivacijskih varijabli (ciljeva postignuća, samoefikasnosti, samoefikasnosti u samoregulaciji) i kontekstualnih faktora s aktivnim varanjem na ispitima na tehničkim fakultetima Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. U istraživanju su sudjelovali studenti triju fakulteta tehničkih usmjerenja Sveučilišta u Zagrebu (N=398). Sudionici su ispunjavali Skalu ciljeva postignuća, Skalu samoefikasnosti, Skalu samoefikasnosti u samoregulaciji učenja, Skalu kontekstualnih razloga varanja i Skalu učestalosti varanja. Za potrebe ovog istraživanja kao zavisna varijabla koristilo se samo aktivno varanje jer se faktorskom analizom pokazalo da je mali broj čestica (dvije) zasićen pasivnim varanjem te stoga ono nije razmatrano. U aktivnom varanju studenti pokušavaju saznati potrebne informacije na nedopušten način kako bi osigurali bolji vlastiti uspjeh, najčešće prepisivanjem od drugih. Rezultati su pokazali da je aktivno varanje pozitivno povezano s ciljem izbjegavanja rada, percepcijom varanja drugih i kontekstualnim razlozima varanja. Negativno je povezano s ciljem ovladavanja uključivanjem, samoefikasnošću u samoregulaciji, prosjekom ocjena u prošloj godini i percepcijom kazne. Utvrđeno je da nema razlike u aktivnom varanju kao ni u procjeni kontekstualnih faktora među studentima različitih godina studiranja. Provjera inkrementalne valjanosti kontekstualnih faktora povrh motivacijskih varijabli pokazala je da kontekstualni faktori objašnjavaju dodatnih 30 % varijance varanja, što zajedno s motivacijskim varijablama čini ukupno 43 % objašnjene varijance. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between motivational factors (achievement goals, self-efficacy and self-efficacy for self-regulated learning) and contextual factors with self-reported active cheating at the University of Zagreb. The participants in the study were 398 students of enginerering faculties. They have completed Achievement Goal Orientation Scale, Self-Efficacy Scale, Self-Efficacy for Self-Regulated Learning Scale, Contextual Reasons for Cheating Scale and Cheating Scale. In this research, only active cheating has been used as a dependent variable beacause factor analysis has shown that only two items have been saturated with passive cheating. Active cheating means students are trying to find out the information using forbidden ways such as transcripting from another student during exam. Active cheating was found to be positively correlated with work-avoidance goal, perceived peer cheating and contextual reasons for cheating. It has negatively correlated with mastery approach goal, self-efficacy for self-regulated learning, GPA and perception of punishment. There has been no significant difference in active cheating and contextual reasons for cheating between the students of different college year. Incremental validity examination has shown that contextual factors explain extra 30 % of active cheating variance that goes up to 43 % when it is examined together with motivational variables.

    This paper offers a basic overview of the transhumanist movement, particularly its approach to ageing. The transhumanist philosophy of ageing strives both towards prolonging the human life and removing the ill effects of ageing. Special emphasis will be put on cryopreservation, which is a currently relevant and functional, albeit controversial, method of suspending death. A group of traditional issues regarding cryonic technology, such as its biological feasibility, will be evaluated. Following the detailed theoretical investigation, Don DeLillo’s Zero K will be analyzed based on the philosophical background of the transhumanist movement, the evaluation of the desirability of cryonic technology, and its rendering of ageing and death. Zero K subtly brings to attention the economic background of this complex technical process, which is often a blind spot in discussions regarding the positive and negative aspects of cryonics. Transhumanism espouses the wide availability of human enhancement methods, but Zero K draws attention to wealth as the demarcation line between those who can choose to enjoy the benefits of technology and those who remain excluded regardless of their choice. In this context, Zero K confronts the potential of cryopreservation with reality and draws attention to points of tension within the transhumanist approach to ageing. Ovaj članak nudi osnovni pregled transhumanističkog pokreta s posebnim naglaskom na transhumanistički pristup starenju. Transhumanistička filozofija starenja teži produženju ljudskog života i uklanjanju negativnih posljedica starenja. Krioprezervacija, koja je neovisno o kontroverznosti trenutačno relevantna i funkcionalna metoda zaustavljanja smrti bit će posebno naglašena. Tekst sadrži procjenu skupine tradicionalnih problema s krioničkom tehnologijom, poput njezine biološke izvedivosti. To će detaljno teorijsko promišljanje pratiti analiza DeLillova romana Zero K na temelju filozofske podloge transhumanističkog pokreta, procjene poželjnosti krioničke tehnologije i prikaza starenja i smrti u romanu. Roman suptilno privlači pozornost ekonomskoj pozadini ovog složenog tehničkog procesa, koja je često slijepa pjega u diskusijama o pozitivnim i negativnim aspektima krionike. Transhumanizam se zalaže za široku dostupnost metoda poboljšanja čovjeka, ali Zero K privlači pozornost bogatstvu kao demarkacijskoj liniji između onih koji mogu izabrati da uživaju u dobrobitima tehnologije i onih koji ostaju isključeni neovisno o vlastitom izboru. U tom kontekstu DeLillov roman suočava mogućnost krioprezervacije sa stvarnošću i privlači pozornost točkama tenzije unutar transhumanističkog pristupa starenju.

    This thesis examines and compares two particular episodes in the broader Cuban emigration to the United States in the post-revolutionary period, Operation Peter Pan and the Mariel Boatlift, through the lived experience of the participants, augmented by scholarly works and an in-depth examination of the historical background of the events that precipitated them amidst the broader historical context of the Cold War and Cuban-American relations. These two waves of migration were chosen because they provide a valuable insight into the shifting social structures of Castro’s Cuba and of the Cuban-American community as the differences in the racial and social stratification of the emigrants that arrived through Operation Peter Pan and the Mariel boatlift were reflected in the differing reception they received upon entry to the United States and the manner of their arrival – these changing characteristics of Cuban immigrants to the United States provide a fertile ground for comparison and analysis not only of the changes in the social class of the exiles leaving Cuba and the shifting perceptions of Cuban-Americans as a result of that shift but also help illustrate the developments and changes in Cuban-American relations within the framework of the Cold War.

    Tema je ovog rada proces jezičnog posuđivanja na primjeru leksiko-semantičkog polja „Hrana i piće“ u ruskome jeziku. U teoretskom dijelu određuju se pojmovi posuđivanja, posuđene leksike i posuđenica, objašnjavaju razlozi posuđivanja leksike, navode tipovi posuđenica te opisuje adaptacija posuđenica u sistemu ruskoga jazika. Nakon teoretskog dijela slijedi analiza posuđenica leksičko-semantičkog polja „Hrana i piće“. Prvo se iznose razlozi zašto je upravo ta tematska grupa dobar primjer jezičnog posuđivanja, potom se nazivi namirnica, jela i pića dijele na razne tipove posuđenica s obzirom na njihovo porijeklo i razinu usvojenosti u ruskome jeziku, a nakon toga se na primjerima takve leksike opisuje adaptacija posuđenica. Na kraju rada navode se zaključci doneseni na temelju analiziranog materijala.
