This Christmas issue's agricultural articles feature how to be a successful farmer, the impact of margarine on the dairy industry, the production of winter eggs, clover seed production in Kenora, the impact of irrigation on Albertan agriculture, and the landscaping of rural properties. Articles that focus on an agriculture education address increasing agricultural education in rural schools, and the advantage of an agricultural education provided by a Short Course. Other articles include the simple life of Thoreau, and the Canadian Patriotic Fund. Christmas articles feature Christmas festivities of other lands, suggestions for a Christmas dinner, and a Christmas short story. This issue printed the winners of the O. A. C. Review's competition in short stories, poetry, photographs, and cartoons. Campus news reports on the new skating rink, the Student Co-operative Association election results, the Union Literary Society meetings, and the football games. This issue begins with an article about the history and mandate of the Canadian Officers Training Corp (C. O. T. C.). An article contributed by the College Secretary addresses the need for high school preparation of the new students, while another article provides suggestions for agricultural education in rural communities. Agricultural articles pertain to farm management and the high cost of food production, the necessity of salesmanship in the marketing of agricultural products, agriculture in the Algoma district, and the need to protect beneficial birds. Poultry articles address the limited lifecycle of an egg-producing hen, a humorous article regarding urban chickens, and the problems of poultry breeding. The horticultural article is focused on the summer care of orchards. The editorial comments on student enlistment and the duty of the men who stay behind. Campus news reports on the effects of the war on athletic participation, the Literary Society's debates, and campus elections. This issue is dedicated to the retiring English professor - Dr. O. J. Stevenson. In honour of Dr. Stevenson, a couple of articles recount his 25 years at the College and profile his achievements. The lead article is regarding the visit by the Governor General of Canada, Lord Tweedsmuir. The agricultural articles pertain to the new legislation of agricultural tariffs, the activities of the Canadian Chamber of Agriculture, and fundamentals of plant breeding. Ann Glendinning contributes an article on the question of country versus city living. Other articles report the activities of the International Club and a travel diary from Bermuda. The Macdonald Institute column contains poetry, a review of the Junior Girls Banquet, and photographs from the past school year. The centrefold is composed of photographs of the graduating O. A. C. students. The College Life column comments on the practical joke practiced on visiting girls and the start of the season for the O. A. C. Haymakers softball team. Alumni news provides alumni updates and changes to the graduate list. This Christmas issue's agricultural articles feature how to be a successful farmer, the impact of margarine on the dairy industry, the production of winter eggs, clover seed production in Kenora, the impact of irrigation on Albertan agriculture, and the landscaping of rural properties. Articles that focus on an agriculture education address increasing agricultural education in rural schools, and the advantage of an agricultural education provided by a Short Course. Other articles include the simple life of Thoreau, and the Canadian Patriotic Fund. This issue begins with an article about the history and mandate of the Canadian Officers Training Corp (C. O. T. C.). An article contributed by the College Secretary addresses the need for high school preparation of the new students, while another article provides suggestions for agricultural education in rural communities. Agricultural articles pertain to farm management and the high cost of food production, the necessity of salesmanship in the marketing of agricultural products, agriculture in the Algoma district, and the need to protect beneficial birds. Poultry articles address the limited lifecycle of an egg-producing hen, a humorous article regarding urban chickens, and the problems of poultry breeding. This issue is dedicated to the retiring English professor - Dr. O. J. Stevenson. In honour of Dr. Stevenson, a couple of articles recount his 25 years at the College and profile his achievements. The lead article is regarding the visit by the Governor General of Canada, Lord Tweedsmuir. The agricultural articles pertain to the new legislation of agricultural tariffs, the activities of the Canadian Chamber of Agriculture, and fundamentals of plant breeding. Ann Glendinning contributes an article on the question of country versus city living. Other articles report the activities of the International Club and a travel diary from Bermuda. The Macdonald Institute column contains poetry, a review of the Junior Girls Banquet, and photographs from the past school year. The centrefold is composed of photographs of the graduating O. A. C. students. The College Life column comments on the practical joke practiced on visiting girls and the start of the season for the O. A. C. Haymakers softball team. Alumni news provides alumni updates and changes to the graduate list. The Alumnae column reports on the preparations for summer events, a letter from an alumna living in Sudan, and marriage announcements.
