La finalidad general de esta investigación es llevar a cabo un diagnóstico sobre el impacto ambiental resultado de las obras de construcción en la ciudad de Barranquilla, apoyados en metodologías de evaluación que permitan clasificar y priorizar los factores, así mismo explicar cómo se originan y las consecuencias que pueden causar. Se valorarán cuantitativamente o cualitativamente según el caso, definiéndose la magnitud del impacto, sea positivo o negativo. Una vez expuestos los conceptos de Arquitectura Ecológica y Construcción Sostenible, es clara la relación de reciprocidad que guardan, y a su vez, la importancia vital que tienen dentro del desarrollo físico de una ciudad, que quiera afianzar esta armonía con su entorno ambiental. La relación se basa en que mientras al hablar de una Construcción Sostenible se refiere a cuestiones técnicas muy específicas en temas como materiales de construcción, manejo de recursos energéticos y procedimientos constructivos; el hablar de Arquitectura Ecológica incluye intrínsecamente estas temáticas, pero a su vez se tiene una perspectiva más amplia en diseñar proyectos edificables que valoren y den la importancia que se merece el mantener un entorno ambiental urbano sano, para el beneficio de sus ciudadanos ya sea en aspectos de salud, paisaje, economía, movilidad, habitabilidad, entre otros. The general purpose of this investigation is to carry out a diagnosis on the environmental impact resulted from the works of construction in the city of Barranquilla, rested on methodologies of evaluation that allow to classify and prioritize the factors, likewise tell how they originate and the consequences that they can cause. They will be valued quantitatively or qualitatively according to the case, the magnitude of the impact being defined, be positive or negative. As soon as there were exhibited the concepts of Ecological Architecture and Sustainable Construction, there is clear the relation of reciprocity that they keep, and in turn, the vital importance that they have inside the physical development of a city, which wants to strengthen this harmony with its environmental environment. The relation is based in that while, on having spoken about a Sustainable Construction, it refers to very specific technical questions in topics as building materials, handling of energy resources and constructive procedures; speaking about Ecological Architecture includes intrinsically these subject-matters, but in turn a wider perspective is had in designing projects edificables that value and give the importance that it deserves maintaining a healthy urban environmental environment, for the benefit of its citizens be already in aspects of health, scenery, economy, mobility, habitability, between others.

This report was published for the first time in 1996, shortly after the so-called “Imia crisis”. Using scientific documentation from historical geography, administrative and diplomatic history and a multitude of international maps from various sources, the report provides direct and authoritative information on the Greek islets of the southeastern Aegean Sea, whose status was contested by Turkey, leading to a crisis of the Greek-Turkish relations.
