The book presents five theoretical and philosophical texts that all react to the crisis resulting from the pandemic of Covid-19 (“coronarisis”). Michal Šejvl tries to grasp some problems connected with human rights protection “instruments” (especially proportionality “test”) and notices a paradoxical situation when human rights are in the crisis perceived as a source of “risk” for human lives, while state is perceived as an “savior” of human lives. Petr Agha reflects the changes of liberal democracy in the crisis and concludes there is a risk that the whole political regime of liberal democracy could be seen as non-functioning with potentially grave consequences. Tomáš Sobek uses two versions of contractualism (ex ante and ex post) to examine how both versions deal with the kind of competitive situations like the crisis. He concludes that both versions of contractualism are problematic. Jana Kokešová dedicates her text to the problem of whether entrepreneurs have a moral claim to financial satisfaction for the measures limiting their economic activity in the crisis. She concludes that entrepreneurs were not “instrumentalized” to protect high-risk groups (like elderly and ill people), because the pandemic did not “fell” only on the high-risk groups but on a polity as a whole. David Černý offers an extensive justification of his opinion (he constantly held during “coronacrisis”, despite many critiques in media) that scarce medical equipment can be allocated on the age basis without being discriminatory, if it is not possible to save both patients and if both patients have the same prognosis of illness.
