The technical solution relates to a new type of solid fuel, especially for use in fluidized bed boilers, in the form of pellets with a moisture content of 12 to 15% by weight, made from sewage sludge or a mixture of sewage and paper sludges possessing as a raw material an average water content of 80%. The drying of the sludge is carried out in a rotary kiln to the required humidity suitable for the production of pellets or briquettes. The granulometry of the prepared fuels meets the requirements for fluidized bed combustion in a layer of inert material, especially sand, with a calorific value above 10 MJ/kg.
